  • The Chicago Bears made huge strides in the offseason, especially in the 2024 NFL Draft by selecting QB Caleb Williams at No. 1 and WR Rome Odunze at No. 9. Colin Cowherd explains why the Bears won the offseason. The New England Patriots also made some strides, selecting seven offensive players (with QB Drake Maye as the highlight) and one defensive guy, South Carolina CB Marcellas Dial. Colin praises the Pats for pivoting from their Bill Belichick draft method of defense and other non-important roster needs. Ezekiel Elliott is returning to America's Team after signing a one-year, $3 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Watch as Colin discusses the Cowboys questionable offseason.

I would have liked to see the Bears trade down for J.J. McCarthy and a lot of draft picks. The draft was strong for WR's with a few elite EDGE rushers and that was the Bears biggest need after QB.
I hope it works out for the Bears but Caleb Williams guaranteeing results before playing a snap in the NFL is a concern and the Bears having to use a 2025 draft pick to get an EDGE that runs a 4.77 forty seems counterproductive and a reach. They needed an elite EDGE like Dallas Turner, Latu or Jared Verse. Chop Robinson was a consolation prize later in the first round because of his great athlrticism but his lack of production is a concern.
I don't share the same sentiment that the Bears won the draft.
If they kept Justin Fields, they could have had an even larger haul at every position.

I would say hiring Shane Waldron was just as important.
Upgrading Lucas Patrick, Cody Whitehair and Eddie Jackson also are pretty key moves.
My concern is that Caleb Williams will not be as good or better than Justin Fields and the Bears will not be strong enough at RDE.
The Bears #1 need after QB was an elite DE to pair with Montez Sweat. A wasted oppportunity.
The draft was deep at WR. There was no need to draft Rome Odunze when the Bears already have D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen. If the Bears had a 2nd round pick, I can maybe understand drafting Odunze who was a luxury pick and not a need.

But that D line is their biggest weakness. And who knows what the defense will look like under Zimmer.
