- Don't worry - he's alive and well! We call him "Hardiman" because of his longevity on the twirl-a-squirrel. This was his second lengthy ride that brought tears to our eyes. He survived in good health and ran down the driveway in a straight line. Enjoy!

I laugh until I cry when I watch this. We built our house on an acre of land and planted 13 oak trees around our home. We were young and didn’t know we would have a squirrel colony living with us. I tried every squirrel proof bird feeder on the market. The last straw was when I found a squirrel sitting quietly in my bird feeder hiding like a statue when he heard me walk onto the porch. I took a picture of him and still laugh about. I did love seeing the nests and babies. We lived in that house for 45 years and then sold it to move to the beach. Now I just watch other peoples squirrel videos. Yours is the best.

There are no batteries on that. It's entirely his body generating the turning acceleration. That's why you can see it slow down when it's body is farther outward from the inmost center, then when he brings it back in and or when he starts closer to the center, he's going much faster.

How has this not gone viral?! I was crying at the end from laughing so hard.
At the end when it fell into the bush and just the whole bush shaking killed me. Based on my own experiences with play ground spinning devices I can only imagine what was going on in that bush. tbh I was a little let down we didn't get to see the squirrel vomit because that was legit in the cards.
The fact they have superb hearing and know humans are laughing at him makes it even better.

All I can tell you folks (animal lovers included) is that after he jiggled in the bushes for a few seconds, he ran down the sidewalk in a straight line and took a right at the driveway. He still hangs out in our yard with his buddy, so I don't think he sustained any permanent damage.

It runs on a rechargable battery. It's a Yankee Droll feeder. I put one up and the twirling empties the seed on the ground which the squirrels eat.... They've got it figured out.
