The only thing wrong with the sonic sunglasses is that there's no way to get a fun toy out of it, unless your idea of fun is a perfectly ordinary set of sunglasses with a hidden button that makes noises. It's much more fun to point a whirring screwdriver toy at things and put it away in your jacket pocket, as opposed to just holding a finger against the side of your sunglasses while staring. Also, do you buy a sonic sunglasses toy in child size (so the child will grow out of them) or adult size (so children can't get them to sit right on their faces)?
@@SingularityOrbitapparently the shades were Capaldi's idea, and it doesn't have a toy on purpose. He wanted people (kids) who don't have much money to feel they could (cos)play doctor who without having to buy expensive toys. I hated the sonic sunglasses until I read that. Now I really respect Capaldi's choice for wanting them to be so dull and plain 🤣
Whenever the doctor is looking at his screwdriver as if he's looking at some sort of display, I always thought he was looking at the emitter, which was beaming any information collected right into his brain. The thing is supposed to be psychic, isn't it?
"We do what the Doctor's friends always do. As we're told." "When one is in love with an ageless god who insists on the face of a twelve year old, one does ones best to hide the damage." River may have been closer to the Doctor's level than most companions, but saying their relationship "didn't involve a power imbalance" is a stretch.
At least River was aware of the imbalance from the very start, unlike Martha or Clara. Her attitude of loving the Doctor despite knowing how much disappointment and frustration comes with it made her that much more relatable to the fans.
River's rant to the fishman concierge of the cruise for killers in "The Husbands of River Song" - where she openly acknowledges the issues of loving a god-like figure whose mission is to protect space, time and the Universe and who she believes can't love her back in the same way - shows that River's study of the Doctor has allowed her to see a far bigger picture of who he/she is than even his most long-lasting companions have ever gotten. Probably even more than Susan's grandmother or whichever parent was The Doctor's child, too. It's probably why they love River so deeply... and despises the reasons for why she knows them so well and believes that romantic love should be beneath them.
I am very glad for the Sonic Shades. They helped Fallout Who Regenerated give Fallout 4 players the ability to lock/relock containers and doors! (Of course, some of us then pointed out the absurdity all all the "dead cows" in the game being identical, static containers the game placed by locking the cows. No, you did not just hallucinate. Locking... cows.
Personal head canon is the holographic display you see on fourteens screwdriver is what eleven and twelve see on their respective screwdrivers, in the eleventh doctor’s case it was a psychic interface, only he or the user could see it. It just so happened to active when he flicked it. The sonic shades are the same thing just this time inside a pair of specs. All fourteen did was make it an actual display he could interact with whereas eleven seemed to only view it and twelve had to have the shades on in some capacity to use it.
I bloody Loved Ace! Finally a female companion who kicked arse and wasn't all screaming and pathetic or moany. But that's what the characters were written as then. I wanted to be like Ace, she was fantastic. Women were pathetically presented so it's really good to see how incredibly better the characters are written for them now. Lucie Miller would have been fabulous to see onscreen too 😊
I personally think the doctor is greysexual. There’s only two characters in the entire show that imply he’s ever done anything more than kissing, so it could be that he’s not for that type of thing unless it’s very specific people like river or Susan’s grandmother.
@@just_jakey Right, and they also think less of males. when the time lord regenerated into a balck woman, the first ting she said was how do you deal with all that ego?
Exactly! This! They're absolutely still somewhere on the ace spectrum. I was leaning more towards demisexual for the same reasoning, but greysexual makes sense too 😊
The best thing about the change in how regenerations look is that 9's regeneration actually just was this yellow and explosive because he had absorbed the time vortex, and then the show runners just decided to keep it that way. 😂
7:33 that was my main concern with the Blue-Rays, as Star Trek decided to pull a Star Wars with its current run of Blue-Ray in which the CGI remastering is the default and you can't watch the original air versions.
Good video. Well written, very amusing and quirky, the right scenes at the right moment, and best of all the right voice to bring it to life. Well done, gang. P.S. There's at least two people on Twitter who post a photo of Alex Kingston "every day until River (the best character) returns to Doctor Who", to which I say: What can I do to help?
No he didn't, he admired her as a person, her intelligence, knowledge etc. He also used her as she was his only access to the Tardis. The First Doctor could be ruthless and not afraid to use people for his aims.
Sonic shades were great, it would allow the sonic to be able to actually give the doctor more info. The downside though is that the writers got lazy with it and had it be the McGuffin to make the episode finish the way it did. As for Ncuti in adventure in space and time, the could have done a little bit more color grading him to match the grading on the background he's on, his outfit and skin tone all seem brighter, like they didn't dial in the chroma key settings right.
"River, the best character". Interesting, I hadn't considered who "the best character" in Doctor Who was… Let me think. Well first off I'm going to exclude Doctor's (sorry Jon), and companions, (sorry Elisabeth) as they'd deserve their own category, I think. So that narrows it down to… (in addition to River,) The Brigadier, his daughter, Benton, the Master (or Mistress,) Petronella, K9, Captain Jack, Davros, (*best character doesn't have to be a good-person,) Wilfred (aka Tom Campbell), Sally, Harriet… (honorable mention, Astrid). Wow. And those are just the ones I could remember. Hmm, well first let me say it's an opinion so any of these, or ones I forgot (sorry) aren't wrong. That said, for me I'd have to say Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart (Nicholas Courtney). As always thank you so very much all, for the videos. Also honorable mention Bannakaffalatta.
The sonic is probably psychic. That said, I do like the display as an option. Can be used to show the info to the audience or other people and not just the Doctor but also here it basically let him sit back and examine the data in front of him for a time, which is probably easier with a screen.
I'm just wondering at the moment when we are gonna get a child Doctor? I mean. there has to at least be a spin off idea there for kids TV... An 'xxx' years old mind inside a kids body and all the problems that presents! Difficult to write but intriguing all the same.
So I not long finished Capaldi's run and I'm now on Jodie and genuinely i love the sonic specs, they're so funny and not nearly as bad as some people say. I WILL DEFEND THEM FOREVER!
I absolutely loved the sonic shades. At first I didn't because I was afraid that the Doctor wouldn't have a sonic screwdriver for a while, but the glasses lasted only one season plus the Monks arc in the 10th season which I think was a brilliant way to utilise the shades when the Doctor got blind. I still don't like the sonic remote of the 15th Doctor though, and no it's in no way a screwdriver. But I really hope that over time it might make more sense, maybe they will address all those 4th wall breakings and they might go all in on the ''the Doctor is in a TV show'' sort of plot/theory with Mrs. Flood being some sort of narrator god or something. After so many of these 4th wall breaks and the sonic being so fucking weird and so much like a TV remote I really wish it all tied in to this plot somehow.
I get that romance sells - but I really appreciated the more Ace-seeming Doctor. It put curiosity and kindness first and made any affection for others feel more wholesome and genuine - no ulterior romantic motivations. It prevented skeevy age-gaps and awkward power imbalances. I'd much rather watch a lonely Doctor who brings someone along in his Time machine for friendship, to share the wonders of the cosmos and be inspired to grow. Not an old, lonely time traveler scoping out cute girls to potentially romance, using his position of experience and intellect and power to shape them into love-struck tag-alongs
Let's agree to disagree about the 11th Doctor's title sequences. I thought they were fine. 10. Agree I'm glad they've kept it consistent since 2005 but it does seem to be getting more explosive each time which I would like an explanation for, the best one I have seen is that somehow the Time-Lords managed to weaponise regeneration during the Last Great Time War, so when a Time-Lord soldier is killed and regenerate they take out as many Daleks as they can as well. 9. I'm unsure of what you are trying to say with this point, but, I must say Sonic Shades hell no! The Sonic Spoon 15 has while not as bad still NO! 8. Agree. 7. Agree in part. I still think they can make good looking TV and have more episodes per season. 9 is too short and while it's not the shortest (looking at you Flux) it's still not enough. 14 while I still feel is a little short was good for 2005 and it's what we really should be trying to go back to IMO. 6. Agree. 5. Agree. 4. I agree but I would also add, that think this is good but you think CGI/AI for dead actors is bad? What's the difference? Aren't you disrespecting the people who worked on the old show who did the best they could with a budget that would buy you roughly a parking space and 2 whoppers? I just feel if you condone for Classic Doctor Who then you have to concede that it is fine for NuWho. 3. I have the Matt Smith version on DVD so that's the one I always will watch. It is actually a good idea to do it every milestone celebration, to re-air it with who ever is taking over as the Doctor. I think the scene is extra powerful because it is Billy Hartnell looking over at not only the first LGBTQ+ person to play the Doctor but the first black man to play the Doctor also. 2. I agree, the problem with 13 is that bar the odd episode here and there it was extremely poorly written. But I was excited to see what they would do with a female Doctor when they announced Jodie initially and looking back at her run, I can still watch they episodes but they are really the worst IMO, even more poorly written than some of the worst classic serials. 1. The Time War was definitely the best idea.
For the next doctor I would really like it if it was Tom Ellis. I have been watching lucifer Season 6 episode 1 and he is very doctor in that episode and it was great. He also sings so they might be able to do something with that. I think he would be good as a slightly darker doctor similar but not a carbon copy of 12. He played the doctor Martha travelled with in the Season 2 finally and believe the characters were engaged to each other afterwards before her and Mickey got together. It would be cool if they brought Martha back and the doctor has her previous fiancé face
Sorry, WhoCulture lady, but Delgado will always be the best Master, hands down. His only downside is he was so well paired with Pertwee, that I doubt he would've worked well for any other Doctor had he not had that unfortunate car accident and had decided to continue on being the Master after Pertwee would've eventually left.
Regeneration was Wayyyy better in classic who as it was different each time and you didn't know what to expect, now regeneration is boring as it's the same over and over, regeneration should be different based on what the doctor is dying from, makes it more original each time and we can get a creative spin on it when a actor departs.
@@bloodarcher7841 hey now. Having 90 minute episodes would allow more of a cinematic approach to Dr. Who. Gives enough time for the standard 3-act play with enough time to actually build the story to a good climax and denoument. Often times we get to the climax and that's it, show's over... everybody off!
After being Hogwarts caretaker 🧙🏼♂️and then being murdered by Maisie Williams' Arya in Game of thrones 🗡️.I think David Bradley should return as The Doctor...⏳
On the point of "the Doctor is no longer asexual", I humbly disagree as an asexual myself. Asexuality is a spectrum at the end of the day. Just because they're not aromantic or romantically repulsed, does not mean they're not asexual. First off, sexual attraction and romantic attraction are two separate things. There are people like me that love the idea of a relationship, but find the idea of sex to be undesirable. Then there's some asexuals that do enjoy sex under specific circumstances. It's like, yeah you may not necessarily be craving pizza, but you won't necessarily say no to it either. Sometimes it's like that. I still think the Doctor could fall anywhere within that spectrum seeing as asexual just means "a disinterest in sex that ranges from repulsion to indifference to only under specific circumstances (such as needing to be close to someone before having that desire)"
I'm firmly in the JNT camp when it comes to the sonic-get-out-of-jail-free-card-screwdriver, and that was before it got to the ridiculous levels it reached in the last decade or so. Much prefer the longer story form of the classic era, the stories just had more time to breathe and the "one-off" characters had a greater impact. I find most new episodes and their characters so forgettable now.
The romance with The Dr in the modern series is a bit weird in my mind-a 900+ yr old time lord with a chick in their 20s/30s, bit strange to try and give them a romantic relation ship, isn't it?
I'm actually sad we never got a follow up to An Adventure in Space and Time. I feel like it would be really interesting to dramatize the run of every doctor in a tv movie
I'm typing while watching. If I see anybody justify chibnals era I'm closing the video moving onto the next. Nothing will ever justify what happened to this show.
I don't think those two were really the first pairing, just the first explicit ones. Think back to the first companions of the first two Doctors for a second. Many would agree they were a thing. The whole Kinda plotline thing just wasn't good, though. No mention of parody with multiple Doctor regenerations in rapid succession? That would also be a reference to the idea.
Well, you've showed us some changes, how about a second part to this video with _justifications_ to those? This video gives me the impression of brainstorming some bullet points without further considerations. For example, #5: Romance is introduced into the show, but do we need it and how is it justified? Even in #8, the deeper development of companions, I agree, but you didn't show any justification for it. Also, it isn't really true for the "fam" - they're such underdeveloped companions they drop bottom for most of the classic companions. I'd rather have you concentrate on _one_ point of this list and bring forward some arguments instead of just rushing through talking points.
I actually enjoyed the multi-show arcs. Reminded me of the old Movie Serials, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers movie serials. Cliff Hangers are cool! makes you want to keep tuning in to see what's going to happen next.
Funny how so many of your "changes for the better" are the things I (and I suspect many other of the much older fans who watched the original DW when it was broadcast) dislike the most about modern Doctor Who. A couple are definitely worthwhile but most I'd happily do without. (For example both the Sonic Screwdriver and the Psychic paper are lazy get-out-of-jail-free macguffins.) I do like the consistent regeneration style which of course has now been shot down in flames by the last two regenerations. I can sort of get on board with the bigeneration thing though I think it was largely unnecessary nonsense but I'd love to hear an explanation of how Jodie's clothes managed to regenerate.
I did say "many" not "all" - I am sure that there are as many different opinions as there are fans. I enjoy the modern version as much as I enjoyed it right from the Hartnell days but things like the sonic screwdriver and the psychic paper are used - in my opinion only, yours may differ - far too often. It's true that the original series often had too much padding because of its serialised format but its also true that the modern series is often rushed to the point that things like the clothes regenerating are just done with no explanation at all and not even hand-waved away in the dialogue.
Hailey Atwell and Olivia Coleman would be good women doctors. Jodie Whittaker has absolutely nothing about her that I see as the doctor tbh. I don’t know why she was cast, u can blame Chibnall and it’s kinda fair however was Capaldi ever bad in a bad episode?
Still don't agree with the concept of giving the Doctor a love life. The Doctor really needs to be above all earthly concerns. He is NOT human, and we should not ascribe our human emotions onto them. Yes, the Doctor can have relationships with humans - that was established as far back as the First Doctor and Cameca in The Aztecs. But I still say it shouldn't go beyond that. Even if the Doctor's relationship with River Song was one of the series more touching love stories. And the sonic screwdriver. That so became a deus ex machina way too quickly. Can't do something? Pull out the old sonic! It couldn't do before what we want it to do now? Whatever - it does it now, don't ask questions. Even the writers during the Fifth Doctor's era realized it was being used too much to get out of a jam so they had the villain of the week destroy it. But like Superman's kryptonite, it was way too easy to bring it back the next time they needed it. Well, it's still better than pulling a gun for whatever reason. Did anyone ever realize that the Doctor used the screwdriver for its real-life function of turning a screw only ONCE? Yeah, it somehow had the ability to telekinetically do so, but we'll take it.
The trouble with those is how very badly they date. Poor Leela the Savage is dreadfully dated from the costume, attitude and what was known about the era she came from. Future is even harder, only a few decades ago we couldn't have predicted everyone would be walking around with miniature computers and mobile phones. That instead of talking to each other and hanging out chatting say as background characters in a street, people would be sitting in groups ignoring each other using hand held devices 😮 Aliens, look at the old costumes how cringeworthy they look in classic who. New Who Slitheen are fun but already dated. CGI rather than costumes date worse, you can see the CGI in the 60th and Ruby Road and it's a bit jarring and that's with super money to do it. After all that, I do agree with you, it'd be great but that ages so badly it can wreck things quickly.
About visually inspecting the sonic screwdriwer. Do we know that the Doctor has the same visual spectrum as humans? Maybe it is in a light that humans can not see? I never liked the glasses, and never will. This is the hill I die on.
"Well, that's okay then." No seriously, as someone starting with New Who, I might not have been a fan of the older seasons. Nice to see the improvements. Hoping for a awesome new season.
female doctor or black doctor would of been awesome if their entire story wasnt about their sex/skin they did her so dirty ruining the perfect girl to play the doctor
good thing it wasn't, like seriously there's no mention of skin colour in ncuti's first episode and even in the giggle when donna said "do you come in a range of colours" that was a one off gag and is far off from being all It's about.
gonna be honest, i dont care about the gender or color or age of the actor for the doctor. its all fine, the doctor changes and maybe one day he will be a redhead as he wishes. But what i absolutely hate, ist the screwdriver from jodie und now the new one (Dont know how to pronounce, so i will call him cutie for now.) those dont feel right to me
Those ridiculous goblins are probably not the best example of better production values. I know Ellie is obsessed with them (though I can't understand why) but they actually make the Slitheen look like a serious villain. An Adventure in Space and Time is definitely Gatiss' best work, considering that almost every one of his DW episodes are horrible. His Sherlock scripts are much better, but Gatiss really had no idea how to write companions for the Doctor.
Yeah, those goblins....yikes. They keep telling us that they're spending more money than ever on special effects so I don't understand why episodes from the last ten years look so much better than that.
they're not supposed to be a super serious villain, I think you missed the point. The goblins look fantastic though and they were ALL done practically.
Thankfully, I'm not as fussy concerning a minor change such as the title sequence and didn't notice anything wrong with Matt Smith's appearance in An Adventure in Space and Time. I also only heard about the change in it's rerun and even that made me depressed; Smith's cameo not only showed that the show had come a long way since first airing, but also broadcast how successful it had become. Using another doctor starting with Jodie Whittaker (or maybe even Peter Capaldi whom people might agree his tenure started the show's downfall) just went against what William Hartnell (played by David Bradley in the special) said about his future being in safe hands.
I do love me some froth... Surely in a list about the most important changes... The season 7 reboot and season 8 soft reboot is king 👑? Most of the 60s styling is utterly jettisoned in order to keep the series on air and it's utterly fantastic. Keeping the charm of the series but with a 70s splash that the series has never abandoned.
Each to their own, but I was just amazed at how many of these didn't "get" original Who. The old idea that Ace - a "teenager" who swears, which means she calls people "bog brain" - was the first "real" companion is kind of amazing, really. Lots of the 70s companions WERE ciphers, but they had to be because the STORIES took precedence. In New Who you've got Daleks murdering people in London while the Doctor and Rose make gooey eyes, because the "emotional" (read: syruppy, overwritten nonsense with OTT "emotional" music) has to take priority. Having an obsessive identikit regeneration effect takes away any originality from the process. It's "difficult to argue" with stories that have a beginning, middle and end in 45 minutes as being an improvement?
Sarah Jane Smith was a real companion and many others. The problem is most (not all) NuWho fans have not even watched any of the Classic Who's yet act as if they are the authority of the whole series via a NuWho lens.
@@Mark-nh2hs I thought Sarah became a bit infantised with Tom, but as for the rest of your points I agree 100%. l can't get my head around someone thinking that a story wrapped up in 45m is an improvement that's "difficult to argue with".
This video appears to me rather as a brainstorming of bullet-points without diving into them. None of those changes are argued upon and therefore I can't accept it as a "justification" by any means. Yes, there's been some bad or padded writing in classic Doctor Who and some female companions feel like crybabies. But they only take the negatives in this regard. Sarah Jane and Liz would eat some of the modern companions for breakfast, especially Yaz and the rest rest of 13th's "fam". _Lots of the 70s companions WERE ciphers, but they had to be because the STORIES took precedence._ Well, we knew Liz was a scientist and she supported 3rd in his investigations. Sarah Jane was an investigative Journalist and we've seen her spirit in many stories, both with the third and fourth doctor. They weren't cyphers, their characters were introduced right ahead and harmonically weaved into the stories. Whilst in Martha, we meet her as a Student of medicine, a scientist in some regard, but when does this background of hers ever appear in a story? I only can think of _The Shakespeare Code,_ wherein she shortly checks this one guy about the cause of death. Even much, much worth, with Ryan - Do I need to elaborate? With Rose and the 9th Doctor it's another cup of tea, I liked how her background, friend and family, was integrated into the stories. That's never done before in Classics and was a new aspect of story telling.
I mean, the sonic Screwdriver has a psychic interface, so it probably uses that connection to just beam the data into the Doctor's head.
YES!! THATS MY EXACT THOUGHT
11's screwdriver was controlled with a psychic link. It was a major point when Rory was learning how to use it
Ncuti Gatwa’s appearance as well as the correction of the Tardis console positioning was a very good touch.

River may have been closer to the Doctor's level than most companions, but saying their relationship "didn't involve a power imbalance" is a stretch.
She's literally the daughter of two of his companions
There's also a bit of moral implications from the fact River's entire life from her birth to her death was about the doctor.
"first romantic couple in the tardis, excluding 2 and jamie" laughing my arse off
4:33 add to that river song was conceived on board the tardis whilst it was in the time vortex.
I like the sonic shades because it makes sense he doesn't have his screwdriver anymore since river had it.

(Of course, some of us then pointed out the absurdity all all the "dead cows" in the game being identical, static containers the game placed by locking the cows.
No, you did not just hallucinate. Locking... cows.
Joanna Lumley played a version of the Doctor in a comic relief spoof that came out in 1999 called The Curse of Fatal Death written by Stephen Moffat.
Hearing your hello come out of 9 at the beginning of this confused me to high heaven
Great video, really enjoyed this one! Thanks Ellie and Who Culture! 😊😊
Lucie Miller would have been fabulous to see onscreen too 😊
Ace is not the only classic companion with way more personality than 13th's "fam". Sarah Jane and Liz beat Yaz by far!
never realised how much I wanted a Haley Atwell Doctor until now.
Saaaammmmeeee
Been saying it for years. Years!
I personally think the doctor is greysexual. There’s only two characters in the entire show that imply he’s ever done anything more than kissing, so it could be that he’s not for that type of thing unless it’s very specific people like river or Susan’s grandmother.
Why are you saying the doctor is anything since the doctor isn't even human?
I want a torchwood cross over where captain is aversed to the female doctor😂
@@candycoverbecause other humanoids (even time lords) would also have sexualities
@@just_jakey Right, and they also think less of males. when the time lord regenerated into a balck woman, the first ting she said was how do you deal with all that ego?
Exactly! This! They're absolutely still somewhere on the ace spectrum. I was leaning more towards demisexual for the same reasoning, but greysexual makes sense too 😊
"The trend was bucked by characters like Ace"
And Leela! Don't forget Leela. Paved the road for Ace around a decade earlier.
When you said “and two and jamie” I laughed
15's screwdriver reminds me of a computer mouse. Which at least makes more sense than a screwdriver.
Dan is Yaz’s companion 😌☝️
One of those people is probably an Ellie alt account
The 1st Doctor expressed romantic affection in Cameca in the serial “The Aztecs”.
No he didn't, he admired her as a person, her intelligence, knowledge etc. He also used her as she was his only access to the Tardis. The First Doctor could be ruthless and not afraid to use people for his aims.
It's those aliens, freakin' aliens! - Ensign Fletcher, 2380
I always assumed the sonic was telepethic sending the info into the mind directly
Missy was deliciously evil and had character development which was also the plan for Delgados Master had the actor had lived to finish his arch.
Don’t forget Osgood.
@@judithstrachan9399 Thank you, I'd never forget PETRONELLA Osgood (Ingrid Oliver).
Oops. Sorry. Forgot her first name.I’m so ashamed.
4:54 I love that they used Clara when she was in Waterloo road I feel like this role is over looked a lot
Completely justified, this channel is hilarious😂
For the next doctor I would really like it if it was Tom Ellis. I have been watching lucifer Season 6 episode 1 and he is very doctor in that episode and it was great. He also sings so they might be able to do something with that. I think he would be good as a slightly darker doctor similar but not a carbon copy of 12. He played the doctor Martha travelled with in the Season 2 finally and believe the characters were engaged to each other afterwards before her and Mickey got together. It would be cool if they brought Martha back and the doctor has her previous fiancé face
What clip is that at 9:50 with the Sontarans? I don't recognize it.
Maybe The Invasion of Time from the Tom Baker era.
Yay new vid 🎉
Great video ❤
Sorry, WhoCulture lady, but Delgado will always be the best Master, hands down. His only downside is he was so well paired with Pertwee, that I doubt he would've worked well for any other Doctor had he not had that unfortunate car accident and had decided to continue on being the Master after Pertwee would've eventually left.
The regeneration is like that due to the time war if I remember.
Regeneration was Wayyyy better in classic who as it was different each time and you didn't know what to expect, now regeneration is boring as it's the same over and over, regeneration should be different based on what the doctor is dying from, makes it more original each time and we can get a creative spin on it when a actor departs.
'Didn't include a power imbalance'
Not sure about that!
No power inbalance with River? You mad? xD
I much prefer the classic format and pacing. New Who often feels rushed, sometimes to a conclusion that's unsatisfying.
Completely agree. Many good stories rushed in the last five minutes.
🤣 bad opinion is bad
@@bloodarcher7841 hey now. Having 90 minute episodes would allow more of a cinematic approach to Dr. Who. Gives enough time for the standard 3-act play with enough time to actually build the story to a good climax and denoument. Often times we get to the climax and that's it, show's over... everybody off!
This felt like bullying the classic series
After being Hogwarts caretaker 🧙🏼♂️and then being murdered by Maisie Williams' Arya in Game of thrones 🗡️.I think David Bradley should return as The Doctor...⏳
YES! A WHOCULTURE VIDEO!!!!!
Just wanted to say thank you for the 2 and Jamie comment. Yes. All the yes.
The romance with The Dr in the modern series is a bit weird in my mind-a 900+ yr old time lord with a chick in their 20s/30s, bit strange to try and give them a romantic relation ship, isn't it?
Seeing how many people kick off over a 10 year age gap now-a-day's.
@@Mark-nh2hs exactly
Missy might be one of the greatest villains in any franchise ever. So amazing absolutely love her
I'm actually sad we never got a follow up to An Adventure in Space and Time. I feel like it would be really interesting to dramatize the run of every doctor in a tv movie
Wonder if Sean Pertwee would reverse his stance on playing The Doctor if it was him dramatizing his own father's tenure as the character?
What is a "flat team structure"?
2:27 but he needed the shades cos I he was blind!!! So they are not too far at all; they make sense!
😊h❤h
I'm older and watched the original series and I'm afraid I really don't agree with you.
Honestly it really bothers me that the clothes changing was just... not explained.
4:57 that woman getting extra chips from Bill was my drama teacher, it was so weird seeing her in doctor who
Given that the Doctor has had a granddaughter since 1963, that kind of implies that they were sexually active at some point.
Love the Sonic shades, so iconic and bad A**
Hailey Atwell and Olivia Coleman would be good women doctors.
Jodie Whittaker has absolutely nothing about her that I see as the doctor tbh.
I don’t know why she was cast, u can blame Chibnall and it’s kinda fair however was Capaldi ever bad in a bad episode?
Disagree with 11 mk2 vortex being bad personally, I live it
It brought back the Face
15's prostate stimulator you mean?
The doctor could be asexual but from the show it seems to have been comfirmed he's not aromantic, basically asexual for romantic things, not sexual.
I just wish they had more aliens companions or humans for past or far future, not just modern humans, as companions
Jamie was Awesome and he was from the past!!!!
About visually inspecting the sonic screwdriwer. Do we know that the Doctor has the same visual spectrum as humans? Maybe it is in a light that humans can not see?
I never liked the glasses, and never will. This is the hill I die on.
*fewer episodes, not "less." #english
"Well, that's okay then."
No seriously, as someone starting with New Who, I might not have been a fan of the older seasons. Nice to see the improvements.
Hoping for a awesome new season.
I think they've over done the screwdriver. I think it would have done better to explore more options like the glasses or like McCoy's watch.
“Less and less episodes” (around 4:15). Please get an editor who knows the difference between ‘less’ and ‘fewer’.
OHHH yes..the explaination on the screw driver. Ive ALWAYS wondered how they get infos from the sonic screwdrivers.
female doctor or black doctor would of been awesome if their entire story wasnt about their sex/skin they did her so dirty ruining the perfect girl to play the doctor
It's not all about their gender or skin colour
good thing it wasn't, like seriously there's no mention of skin colour in ncuti's first episode and even in the giggle when donna said "do you come in a range of colours" that was a one off gag and is far off from being all It's about.
gonna be honest, i dont care about the gender or color or age of the actor for the doctor. its all fine, the doctor changes and maybe one day he will be a redhead as he wishes. But what i absolutely hate, ist the screwdriver from jodie und now the new one (Dont know how to pronounce, so i will call him cutie for now.) those dont feel right to me
Never diss the shades
Would have been happy with no episodes in 2024.
Ive noticed that you never seem to include Captain Jack in any of these clips. Is that deliberate?
I suspect it has a lot to do with the controversies surrounding Barrowman
Untrue they've used him a few times recently. They've even used Mickey and the actor did far worse than Barrowman
No… if a Captain Jack clip is relevant, it’ll be used.
Ncuti is the 14th.
no david tennant is the 14th doctor and ncuti is the 15th, you can call ncuti 14 but he's not.
I disagree with almost every single point but I still respect your opinions
How can you disagree when no argument was made?
@@Spielkalb-von-Sparta well most of the things they mentioned in the list I disagreed with
Each to their own, but I was just amazed at how many of these didn't "get" original Who.
_Lots of the 70s companions WERE ciphers, but they had to be because the STORIES took precedence._
Well, we knew Liz was a scientist and she supported 3rd in his investigations.
Rose Noble (vomits)
Who is fifteen?
