While we're on the subject of curses: Revenge Of The Cybermen.
Filmed in Wookey Hole, which is believed to be the site of a longstanding witches curse. The production was littered with equipment faliures and accidents, even if one accounts for a difficult filming environment. At one point, a boat crash nearly killed Elizabeth Sladen. The director's wife found had some arrowheads in an early scouting trip and took them for a souveneer. He later replaced them, after which production ran smoothly.

Black Orchid is a bit of an oddity. It's not really a "pure historical" Doctor Who story (like The Romans, Crusaders or Highlanders), because none of the places, characters or events ever existed or happened. It's just a generic murder mystery featuring the TARDIS team, which happened to be set in 1920s upper-class England, when it could have been set at just about any point in history from the 19th Century onwards.

To be fair there's been lots of moments in doctor who that have terrified me! 😂 The Empty Child and The Doctor Dances absolutely terrified me and The Waters of Mars, they're the only episodes I've never been able to rewatch! 😂 I remember being really freaked out watching the moment in The Impossible Planet when toby's skin gets covered in the alien writing and his eyes turn red, but rewatching this two parter as an adult I don't find it as bad and actually quite enjoy them! Midnight was creepy but such a cleverly written episode and Wild Blue Yonder is a similar episode story wise! The parts in The Doctor's Wife where the alien entity house messes with amy and rory in the tardis by showing amy an older version of rory who hates her was quite horrific! After watching the weeping angels and the vashda nerada I've never been able to look at statues or shadows in the same way! 😂 Dark Water and Death in Heaven were quite dark and difficult to watch, especially during the mentions of the deceased being conscious and able to feel their own cremations! 😮 But I think overall the scares on doctor who make it even more fun to watch! Thanks Who Culture! 😊😊

I spent many an hour wandering around there as a kid. Lived near Porthcawl (you'll probably guess the village on the way). Spent Xmas Eve at a midnight mass, much to the annoyance of the vicar of my church where I was a chorister. My church is next to the Angel. Great place for us older singers to wet our whistles between weddings - there were often 2 in the summer and we got paid £1 for each one! This was in the early '80s, so the first wedding got us a pint and we sang more lustily in the second 😂😂😂!
We're lucky to have such a beautiful place in our lives. Since my parents passed, I have no reason to return, and it'd be a bit too painful anyway, but I have wonderful memories. Mam absolutely loved the Castle.
