Dan Slott had the single best idea for Doctor Who I ever heard.
"The Doctor stops the Master from his latest doomsday scheme... but both are caught in the resulting blast.

this reminds me of my own idea i made up for a doctor regeneration scene where the doc and mas regenerate at the same place at the same time, but the master finishes just before the doctor, so the mas starts purposefully claiming to be the doctor and pitting their companions against the real doctor. over the course of the season* we follow the real doctor trying have their companions realise theyre the real doctor and that the master is tricking them

You missed a big one. Peter Jackson. Director of Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and King Kong almost directed one or two episodes of Doctor Who. Between making the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit trilogies. Peter Jackson himself pitched the idea of not only him directing one or two episodes. But he would do it at his studios in New Zealand. He was even prepared to do it for no pay. All he wanted was a full size original Dalek. Jackson has admitted he is a huge Doctor Who fan and it would be a dream come true for him to direct an episode. The BBC rejected the idea.

I just saw Freema Agyeman today at a fan convention, at the panel the first thing asked was about any possible return, She responded that she was out of the Whoniverse for now - but did admit she might come back when she was 60 and her other work dried up. So the 75th Anniversary special might feature her.
    Also said:
If she could be cast with any other Doctor than David Tennant then it would be Sylvester McCoy (and she also included Paul McGann as her alternate alternative.)

I will say, after seeing a few early episodes of the First Doctor, I can see where they were coming from with the idea of an evil Doctor. Hartnell's Doctor, in the early episodes, was not always exactly heroic, he did pretty much kidnap Ian and Barbara, and - particularly in the Dalek serial - he was very manipulative of his friends when trying to get his own way. He was never a villain, but he did have more morally dubious traits.

9:41 Doing so was unintentionally foreshadowed in 2006's "School Reunion," in which when Sarah Jane says, "You've regenerated," the Doctor replies, "Yeah. Half a dozen times since we last met." One could assume that he's referring to the Fourth Doctor dropping her off at the end of "The Hand of Fear," but Sarah Jane actually met the Fifth Doctor in the 20th Anniversary special "The Five Doctors." 5+6=11, not 10. However, in "School Reunion," the "current" Doctor was the Tenth, not the Eleventh, therefore, there must be an unnumbered incarnation between the 1996 TV movie and Rose, and hence the War Doctor.

Delgado asked to be written out as he was losing out on roles so Terrance Dicks and Barry Letts decided to have him sacrifice his life to save the Doctor, it never got past the initial stages as Delgado was sadly killed in a car crash. As far as I am concerned, Martha was special because for once, the companion was not the most important being in all of creation. She was special because she was Martha. She was enough. I was fine with it. Underrated, for certain.

When silly is the subject, the Absorbaloff will never not be mentioned. And to the point, I agree that only Tom Baker could have made a talking cabbage believable, if not iconic.

I remember that cliffhanger before the S4 finale. I was only seven at the time and I remember spending all that week wondering who the next Doctor would be, I didn't think for a minute that it would be Tennant again, and neither did anyone else, as I recall.
I didn't know who to expect, and my speculation varied wildly from one of the old Doctor returned (I had a lot of Classic Who episodes on VHS as a kid), which is no longer as crazy as it sounded at the time, to someone from my other favourite show at the time 'Young Dracula', probably Keith-Lee Castle who had played the Count. Odd as the jump from Count Dracula to Doctor Who would have been, it could have worked, Castle is a decent, but heavily underrated, actor, and Young Dracula was wrapping up at around the same time as this so he would have been free.

The evil Doctor was revisited during the Trial of a Timelord season where it was revealed that the Valeyard was an amalgamation of the Doctor at the end of his 12 and final incarnation of him where the high council created him in order to hide his involvement in finding the true intentions of how earth was thrown off its natural course and renamed Ravelox.
It is pushing a bit, but with Tom Baker's idea of a talking cabbage sitting on his shoulder could have been redesigned when Matt Smith had the Cyberman head plugged into the Tardis and was taking it around with him in the one adventure.

  • @medafan53

I did read on TV tropes at one point that never mind 9, at one point in the making of the 50th special, Moffatt didn't have *any* Doctors signed up, even Matt Smith's contract expired with Name of the Doctor, and while desperately negotiation contracts for Matt, David Tennant and John Hurt he was working on a backup story that... I don't remember entirely but I recall reading that it was something like Clara (the only actor still on contract at the time) having to remember the Doctor and something to do with movies starring fictional Doctors played by famous actors, presumably something to do with how they got out of the Doctor's timeline after Name of the Doctor.
Wouldn't necessarily say it's brilliant, Day of the Doctor is definitely better, and given how polarizing Clara was with fans the idea that she was the star of the 50th... may not have gone down well with her detractors, but it's certainly an interesting could have been.
Another interesting thing is that Twice Upon a Time almost didn't happen, Moffatt intended to wrap up his run with The Doctor Falls, ending with the regeneration into Jodie, if we assume that the plot was still meant to lead into The Woman who Fell to Earth in the same way then it would've added a double meaning to the Title, but then he learnt that Chibnall didn't plan to make a Christmas episode, and failing to deliver on that would cost Who the Christmas slot in the future, so he threw together a romp with David Bradley's take on the 1st doctor, his CD of Murray Gold's greatest hits, and Peter Capaldi's expertise on the Christmas Armistice... then Chibnall ditched Christmas in favour of New years anyway.

Great video. That Angel book could work, if it was first angel (that arrived with ship) did it. He was in normal state, it would make sense, if he eat normally. It could take place of stupid moving angels. Idea of Toflacains (did I wrote it right?) appearing trough series as mysterious villain is definitely interesting. It would be mystery, who they are and why they do this. There could be even scene, where they save doctor/Marta, because he needs to release their Master! Their existence could be explained as side effects of Master experimenting and rebuilding TARDIS before paradox machine was working or side effects of destruction of paradox machine. They probably couldn't take place of Daleks, but having additional mystery like them would make whole finale much greater! M. J. spinoff or her bigger role in universe would be definitely plus, even if she isn't my favorite. That is Donna. But she is good and I would want to see more.

Really good stuff, just what I have always said, Who is only great because of it's creative regen ideas. Sprinkled thru, giving Whovian fans so much yumminess, as the Seasons progressed.
We felt loss, as the Characters gave us
& Poor Matt I adored how screwed up he was, how flawed, added to Capaldi's really confused, & tired more serious, To loyal Doctor Whovian's
Young Gens & older, we always appreciated story, & the Characters to have besides fun, & very silly, substance, 4 all our hearts the next Doctor is a true Whovian, & his Companion Married to the 10th Doctor, Who's favorite 5th Doctor is his father In-law Peter Davidson. 💔💔
So keep it in the Whovian Fam. Because yeah Russell is back in the Seat of power, & hopefully he has given serious thoughts to his Who Villain Jynx🤡💯 is there a Reason why she looks like I love Lucy in Spaghetti lounge act, & fired from said Lounge act, why is she out for the Doctor?
Because I think talking Cabage seems more a hit then us not having a amazing miss y.

At one point Tom Baker's doctor was going to be revealed to actually be the 13th incarnation, which is where the morbius doctors came from.
And if the show wasn't cancelled in the 80s you would have had a storyline similar to the timeless child, with the doctor being the reincarnation of the past timelord and 3rd founding member of timelord society the other. I've always like this one (which is why I'm not so disliking of the timeless child, it could definitely have been executed better though).

Funny story: I always thought about my own version of The Doctor. I don't know, if this version would be accepted from the audience, since my stories are more fantasy than science-fiction and mostly play on earth. But, much like Tom Baker, i also had the idea of a vegtable as companion.
My idea is build along the lines of Mimir from God of War. Like him, the living pumpkin called "Cucurbita" who served the roman god of war, would join The Doctor to aid him in one of his dark times and furthermore help companions to understand The Doctor.
