    Finally, someone who makes a TARDIS that actually looks like they used the right dimensions (no pun intended) and didn't just make up their own. So many I see online just look overly wide or tall where as this one actually looks right.

    • @LMC97
      @LMC97  2 года назад +49

      Thank you. We did had to improvise some dimensions (still no pun intended) though we did try to stay close the general shape of the Series 5 to 10 exteriors. I'm happy you like the final result.
      Tardisbuilders.com is a great forum that contains many great TARDIS builds that are practically identical to the TARDIS props built for the show and there are many discussion threads that include TARDIS measurements.

      Love the build but it is slightly different in dimensions.

    • @LMC97
      @LMC97  2 года назад +6

      @@Kmangod Thanks. There are some off proportions such as the windows being a bit small with thicker frames, the support posts being a bit thicker and more. Some alterations were made during the build due to what wood resources were available as well as the way it was built to stay standing. That and I didn't notice in plans until roughly after though I still like how it turned out. The slightly smaller windows remind of the small windows the original police boxes had.

    Best wishes from a movie armour-maker in a French forest.
    This is the best reproduction Tardis I have ever seen.
    It looks even more solid/transportable than the real thing.
    I was thinking what would I do with one? I think to stand above a Colin Furze style secret tunnel.
    So I could say to visitors "Hang on...just let me get something from the house"
    I then walk into the Tardis nestling under the Oak trees then 20 seconds later....
    BOOM... I burst our the front door of the house at the other end of the drive! 💪🤖🇬🇧
    Bravo to you 🏆

      Thank you. At the moment, the TARDIS is great for display. Though once I finish my course in Time Lord Science, I can finally make her bigger on the inside and start travelling in time. Though the big question is, if you could travel anywhere in time and space, where and when would you go first.

      @@LMC97 Good question, my immediate thought was, if staying on earth I would opt for Naseby, 14th June 1645, to share a tea from my tartan Thermos with Oliver Cromwell, and maybe introduce him to the delights of Pickled Onion Monster Munch!
      After that, I zoom to Burton Latimer, 2007 to experience the most electrically charged first date again.
      Then maybe try and prevent the internet from happening so that I can save Blockbusters!
      But then if I did that... I wouldn't be sitting here in a sleeping bag on the International Space Station typing this would I?
      Best wishes to you, stay creative. 🏆⚒️

    • @LMC97
      @LMC97  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your kind words. This TARDIS was a family project. I made the virtual plans that were shown at the beginning of the video. These plans were mainly used for rough sizes of the TARDIS components. These were then translated my grandad, who was practically the head builder of the project. It was him who was able to perfect the sloped roof. We knew the sloped roof would be tricky. We even made a 1/5 scale model of the whole box to gain an idea on how to build the big one. If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out the TARDISbuilders forum. It contains many build diaries of so many great TARDIS, with sloped roofs. You may find better answers there than I could give you. Good luck with your rebuild!

    Mine has 3 tiers on the top but they leak between the tiers because they haven't been sealed properly. Got to get that done. Also, the door must seal properly so as not to let rain and snow inside. When it snows the base sits in the snow. Not good. If I had it to do again, I would put it up higher on some cement blocks to keep it from sitting in the wet snow. All in good time. There also are sites on RUclips which tell you how to add sound and activate the lights.

    • @LMC97
      @LMC97  11 месяцев назад

      Good luck with sealing your roof. I think we got lucky with our TARDIS as seems only rain gets in once the door opens because unfortunately even though the doors prevent water getting in, it pools in front of the door until the door is opened. Our base is suspended due to the posts actually being the component the holds everything up. The base is merely secured to the posts instead of the posts being secured to the base. This means the base is never in direct contact with dirt and snow...if we get any. Though condensation is still problem even when the TARDIS covered up so repairs are still done from time to time when the gaps open up but that's wood for you.

      I myself can't confirm how accurate they are but I can tell a lot of work has gone into making them as accurate as possible.
      As for guides, I don't know if there is an official guide on how to build a TARDIS though most people go through other builders build diaries to gain a better understanding on how they made theirs and then take notes on how to build there own.
      Build Diaries: tardisbuilders.com/index.php?board=9.0
      There's even a timelapse of a TARDIS prop, that was used for Series 9, being put together showing its main components.
      The base, the 4 support posts, the walls and doors that connected to the posts, the police box signs that connect to the posts at the top and then the roof that sits on the signs with the lamp on top.

    You can actually build one that you walk around and is still bigger on the inside. Two catches: You can't walk in, just look. And it won't disappear - that needs a lot more space than this yard, though it can be done, e.g. in a stadium.

    imagine one day, you open it up to put something inside and it ends up being unusually bigger on the inside

    • @LMC97

      It would be surprising if a living TARDIS moves in and makes it bigger on the inside. Though if does happen, it might take me a while to find everything that was in the TARDIS before.
      If I was The Doctor I would say, "You've had this place redecorated haven't you? I don't like it."

    • @LMC97
      @LMC97  Год назад

      @@MadmanWthABox If you haven't already, I recommend checking out TARDISbuilders.com. It's a forum that contains many plans, discussion topics of building a TARDIS, etc. There are also many TARDIS build dairies including bedroom/office doors being converted to TARDISes and there are even many build dairies of full boxes. Building a TARDIS was a fun project. I guess the main tip I would give is that if you plan to have a TARDIS that is constantly outside, building it is just the first step. You will need to look after it as it goes against the weather. So I would keep that in mind when deciding on whether to build a full size TARDIS that can only go outside or to build a scaled down version or even a TARDIS door. I hope one day you will have a TARDIS of your own!
