Our TARDIS project is getting closer and closer to completion. Working on the dimming light on top and it's been problematic. Everything is held together by wood screws and friction so it can be disassembled for repair. It's going to be a geocache as well. Fun and expensive!
A dimming light on top sounds like a nice touch. I hope your TARDIS project finishes soon. I know it was so much fun watching a TARDIS slowly begin to take shape. What really made it look like a TARDIS was when the signs were installed. Good luck with the rest of your project!
Thank you. This TARDIS was also a family project. We found a local sign making shop which we supply the images and measurement to. They made all the signs.
Thank you. I did make a 3D model as shown at the beginning. However, it was made before research into wood supplies began so it's actually inaccurate compared to the real life TARDIS. It was made in Google SketchUp which is really handy to plan things out in 3D.
Beautiful TARDIS! I am currently rebuilding my own and would love to put the sloped roof on it thia time, but I'm struggling with the angles of it all to miter the actual roof panels flush. Would love to see any plans you had made up for yours.
Thank you for your kind words. This TARDIS was a family project. I made the virtual plans that were shown at the beginning of the video. These plans were mainly used for rough sizes of the TARDIS components. These were then translated my grandad, who was practically the head builder of the project. It was him who was able to perfect the sloped roof. We knew the sloped roof would be tricky. We even made a 1/5 scale model of the whole box to gain an idea on how to build the big one. If you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out the TARDISbuilders forum. It contains many build diaries of so many great TARDIS, with sloped roofs. You may find better answers there than I could give you. Good luck with your rebuild!
Mine has 3 tiers on the top but they leak between the tiers because they haven't been sealed properly. Got to get that done. Also, the door must seal properly so as not to let rain and snow inside. When it snows the base sits in the snow. Not good. If I had it to do again, I would put it up higher on some cement blocks to keep it from sitting in the wet snow. All in good time. There also are sites on RUclips which tell you how to add sound and activate the lights.
Good luck with sealing your roof. I think we got lucky with our TARDIS as seems only rain gets in once the door opens because unfortunately even though the doors prevent water getting in, it pools in front of the door until the door is opened. Our base is suspended due to the posts actually being the component the holds everything up. The base is merely secured to the posts instead of the posts being secured to the base. This means the base is never in direct contact with dirt and snow...if we get any. Though condensation is still problem even when the TARDIS covered up so repairs are still done from time to time when the gaps open up but that's wood for you.

Very good!!!
Thank you!
Really great ! Now, make it bigger on the inside…
Thank you. This TARDIS is kind of bigger on the inside. 2:55. Though the interior is well disguised to look like the inside of a shed...I'll get round to fixing that haha.
I can't help but wonder if there is some police department somewhere that would try and lay claim to a structure marked Police Box. "Of course its ours... it says Police right on it..."
It would be great, if it wasn't so expensive to line the inside with an image (round the corners) of one of the TARDIS interiors (hide back door). ;-)
imagine one day, you open it up to put something inside and it ends up being unusually bigger on the inside
It would be surprising if a living TARDIS moves in and makes it bigger on the inside. Though if does happen, it might take me a while to find everything that was in the TARDIS before.
If I was The Doctor I would say, "You've had this place redecorated haven't you? I don't like it."
@@LMC97 hahahha, love the reference!
I always fail getting my Tardis bigger on the inside...
That is usually the tricky part haha
I dunno, the outside looks really good but the in think the insides a bit to small
In this case, it's what is on the outside that counts. The interior is just something extra that I might get around to decorating.
Nice!
Thanks!
K now build the pocket universe inside of it and trap an exploding star inside it to make it function ( no but really good job I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between used on set one and this one)
Know any stars that are going to explode soon? Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so happy knowing people like the big blue box in my garden.
@@LMC97 I do know one XD
Betelguese
@@stardustlight8630 I knew someone would recommend Betelgeuse. Though I still need to wait a while until that one explodes...and there's also the problem of capturing it. Does anyone have a giant net I can borrow? XD
@@LMC97 with your skills 100% you can build a net with a material that’s able to resist it’s temperature XD
thats cool
Thank you!
@@LMC97 youre welcome 😀
I'm jealous, can I buy it from you?
Sorry, this TARIDS is permanently planted into the ground. I guess you can say it has been grounded. I'm glad you like it though.
@@LMC97 well, I'm glad you made it!!
I wanna make one, any tips? Like if I were to make one, do you think a cheap idea would be make it a door? Like my Door is the TARDIS? Do you think that's a good idea?
@@MadmanWthABox If you haven't already, I recommend checking out TARDISbuilders.com. It's a forum that contains many plans, discussion topics of building a TARDIS, etc. There are also many TARDIS build dairies including bedroom/office doors being converted to TARDISes and there are even many build dairies of full boxes. Building a TARDIS was a fun project. I guess the main tip I would give is that if you plan to have a TARDIS that is constantly outside, building it is just the first step. You will need to look after it as it goes against the weather. So I would keep that in mind when deciding on whether to build a full size TARDIS that can only go outside or to build a scaled down version or even a TARDIS door. I hope one day you will have a TARDIS of your own!
@@LMC97 thanks!! I'll keep that in mind! Have a nice day!
i have the plans.
That's the coolest thing i want to build ont so bad allons y
I know that feeling so well. I just knew I had to have a TARDIS of my own.
🙂👍🏾📽
🙂👍🏽
i fuckin need this lmao
Are you planning on -stealing- borrowing a TARDIS?
Cool as fuck!
i bet that took no time at all
I'm trying my best to make a time machine joke but my train of thought has gone all wibbly wobbly.
The question is, is it bigger on the inside 😂🤔
....maybe. 😁
🔥 Promo>SM!!!
I mean.. you didn't. That's just a police box.
...You know too much. I don't know that much about the original police boxes designed by Gilbert MacKenzie Trench that the TARDIS resembles though I know they where mostly made of concrete rather than wood though wooden police box did exist before and some just looked like blue sheds with a light on top.
XD
*Tardis dematerialises
Drat. Looks like I'll have to build another.
The combination of odd music and slideshow pictures with no commentary makes me uncomfortable, i feel as though i have been cursed
What a weird comment to make! Someone's showing their passion, and showing an amazing build. This video is great to sit and watch to learn the journey of the creators tardis!
Bro just move on, the weird energy from this comment alone is making me uncomfortable.
