Kind of sad how this is framed as a cringe horror story. I guess "no fun or comedy allowed" are part of the rules of this table.
Also imagine roleplayers calling other people cringe. Maybe we should be a bit careful with the stone throwing in our glass house.

Honestly I just DM’d my group through a session where their first major villain was literally Dio Brando, and somehow managed to get in some nail-biting tension and fun roleplay out of that. I have plans to include Xander Bloodclaw as a brief inside joke later, too.
Is it cringe? Eh, probably. I am cringe, but I am free.

This is my favorite way to play a D&D character; I did a very similar thing with a female centaur. Funny story:
So in a campaign where I was somehow not the DM, I played an Aarakocra Blood Hunter/Fighter with 4 INT and WIS called "Birdfriend" ("Birdacquaintence" to new people, and "Birdfoe" to their enemies). Birdfriend was a silly dumb character, introduced jokingly with the name gimmick, very stupid with the low INT which led to a lot of misinterpretation-type jokes, a cinnamon roll sweet non-binary bird buddy, but over the course of several sessions I slowly revealed Birdfriend to be a very tragic and abused character, abandoned by their parents due to their mental difficulties from hatching, not able to keep up with their siblings or parents, and in general just being a bad egg. This led to a lot of sad tragic backstory stuff, blah blah blah, I tried to make a very comedic character eventually very tragic and serious. Birdfriend met their end via suicide over their best friend being killed. It was obviously very dark, sad, serious, and a bit edgey, and successfully I made most of the table cry as a result of the scene.
After Birdfriend met their tragic demise, I had to make a new character. My DM told me that they'd be a gladiator in this coliseum the other players were going to; a fighting slave functionally, very crappy situation, and the coliseum kept the gladiators fit to keep fighting over and over with a magic fountain of blood that when drank have you the benefits of a long rest. Pretty edgey situation my new character would be introduced in.
So I created a weird one: a centaur multiclassed one level into every class (at level 5, so Fighter/Sorcerer/Bard/Mystic/Rogue at the start). They had a very edgey design, with a kabuki mask, massive swords, gladiatorial armor, caked in blood from their enemies and this blood fountain.
When the party arrived in the fighting pits, before we'd all be thrust into the ring, the DM asked me to describe my character when they first met eyes. I gave my best most edgey description ever: this tall intimidating figure of a centaur, dripping in blood, all these weapons, spiky armor, lot of black and red, muscles, etc. The centaur filled the inside of her kabuki mask with blood from the fountain, drank from the mask like a bowl, before affixing it back to their face, just as they turned to the party...
(the edgey description worked a little too well, as I could see some of my fellow players get bored and literally roll their eyes as I went on)
Then I belted out my best bubbly _feminine_ Irish accent and said in a high-pitch: "Heloo! Ha-ware-ya? Soo luvlee tuh mate ya ull!"
This made my entire table burst out laughing (mission successful) 😁
I revealed the big super edgey-looking buff centaur to be a woman named Talya, with an incredibly happy, bubbly, friendly, and optimistic personality, who never shut up, speaking in her (very silly sounding) thick Irish accent. She was pretty unbothered by the gladiator stuff, and generally was just happy to be there no matter the situation.
I spent hours studying Irish accents for that two-minute reveal scene, and it was completely worth it. Talya remains one of my favorite characters ever, and my best moment in D&D, turning the table's mood from bored with edge to laughing at the absurdity on a dime.

My first character was pretty edgy too, and we played him up for laughs a lot- but in a very different way than this guy.
A half-drow, his human mother didn't follow his family back into the Underdark. He (sneakily) worked magic to help his father at the morgue, until one day he came home and found that his father had been killed for boning a human- and my character was being hunted! Escaping from the underdark as a homebrew necromancer (bodies are easier to move if they move themselves!), he was found as a goblin's prisoner by the party. He had zero social abilities and absolutely no experience with the "real world" OR the above-ground, so every new experience for him was either mind-blowing, terrifying, or immensely confusing. Taverns where the owner doesn't have slaves beaten within inches of their lives? Dragonborn? Prostitutes? Dragonborn prostitutes? All insane concepts that took some seroous adjustment time.
His interactions with NPCs were the best, though. The DM was fairly new but very good, and when Necrodude came up to a citizen asking where the nearest corpse could be found (preferably with little to no decay), the party had to intervene to not only save face but also avoid prison time.

Honestly thought this was hilarious. I imagine this character telling everyone he wants to avenge his parents and not getting taken seriously because he perpetually talks in owo speak

@@tristanband4003 I minmax, but my characters are outright insane. I have scared a succubus into celibacy with a mad scientist type wizard
