    Beautiful piece of gear! Thank you. During shooting, did the fore-end undo itself, or did you maybe forget to tighten the screw?

      An exert from the written review I wrote about this gun...
      "Cleaning sound moderators is a polarising topic, some like them left alone until they virtually rot, whereas others want to remove them every time and clean them back to bare metal where possible. Personally, unless there is a specific corrosion issue likely, I tend to leave them alone for the simple `if it’ ain’t broke, I don’t fix it`, and have never had a modern one rot from gunshot residue within. I ALWAYS remove my moderators after use to avoid condensation issues with moisture and of course that gunshot residue can retain moisture but one fact I will say is that mods that can be dismantled, can have loose components and if they `rattle` on firing, you can forget your consistent harmonics for reliable precision. I would also add that on a couple of mods that `did` rattle, they stopped once the gas and soot inside locked them up nice and solid and never gave another day’s hassle. Like everything, there are many pros and cons to alternate choices, but these are mine. DO, make sure the barrel’s muzzle threads are clean though, a seized moderator is a major hassle and old steel mods like the Br Tuote T8’s for example would rot whatever you did! Huge gaseous clouds belching out of mods are a sure sign of `cold bore` zero that is unlikely to hit the spot, even if you can see it afterwards."

    @jmkhenka Год назад +5

    You ALWAYS need to remove the moderator when storing the rifle. There has been several cases of Blaser R9 silence owners that has had rust develop on the barrel.
    Not removing it risks condensation to get stuck and that causes problems.

      Good advice for all rifles with moderators no matter what brand.I was taught to store them barrel downwards due to any gun oil residue ruining timber stocks including shotguns. 🙂

    • @MKChase-uj9vx
      @MKChase-uj9vx Год назад +1

      That's a very good point. I always remove my mods and give them a quick spray with Napier Silensave.
      Removing that setup looks like a pain in the royal.
      Lol... irrelevant anyway as I wouldn't hand over 8k for carbon fibre rifle any more than I hand over 8k for a latest huge new screen TV. My wife would kill me 🤣
      It'll be a cracking bit of engineering I'm sure, but 15 years from now it'll likely look dated rather than classic.

      @@chrisparkin431 Yes my comment was a general one. Seen cases where r8 silence owners, a similar system, has gotten rust on the barrel due to never removing the moderator. The ignorance people have is quite impressive considering the investment - how much is a r8? 75k euro?

    From 2.50- 3.10 it appears the rifle has become detached from the fore end. You can see under recoil the movement and separation between the two. Is this a common occurrence?

    Hi Chris. Looking at the scenes where you were actually shooting this firearm, did you experience ANY form of recoil from this rifle? It looks like you were shooting 22lr or like 50gr bullets😂😂. How would you compare this 308's recoil against other 308's you've shot? Regards.

    • @chrisparkin431
      @chrisparkin431  11 месяцев назад +2

      Moderators reduces recoil, it's not particularly featherweight and has good stick ergonomics which all contribute to the rifle's character. The shorter barrel also generates correspondingly less muzzle energy/momentum to start with.

      @@chrisparkin431 Awesome, thanks for the response. Lastly, Sauer makes a 101 GTI Silence, which is basically the wooden stock in this shape, together with the more budget friendly 101 rifle instead of 404. PLEASE try to get your hands on one them for a good, in-depth review, like this one. Regards👍🏻🤝🏻

      Enough that Sauer can justify directing products to a predicted marketplace. It's partly so expensive because it is unusual and desirable without economy of scale to make it cheaper.

      Sauer 404 is a good example. You are paying at least 1000 E for the brand name. It is 4 to 5 000 E aluminum receiver rifle that is not better than Danish Schultz & Larsen Victory that is steel receiver and button rifling barrel. So something easier to make is way more expensive than something harder to make.
