Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there. Keep up the good work my brothers!!!
Holy poop! Forgot it’s Father’s Day!
I shouldn’t, though! I have 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren! In my crew of 16 progeny, 7 of them are musicians! Yep, I’m a proud dad/grandpa!
Happy Father’s Day!
Peace
😂😂😂 if we get the 45-degree diagonal head nod we know the song is right.
@@yamyamyams2629 😂
I appreciate it fellas 😅
Do you guys have any children
Love the way Bonzo plays straight then picks his moment and stuns you😎
Both Robert Plant and Jimmy Page have stated in the past that they believe Kashmir to be their greatest creation. I would not disagree. It's a beautiful masterpiece.
Funny that they never made it to Kashmar as that place is in Pakistan and the northern border of India. They did however get to North Africa Morocco. Should have called it Fez lol
Or The Hy Atlas
My fav of their songs.
It’s their Magnum Opus
It sounds menacing and creeps slowly. Then rocks and doesn’t stop.😎❤️
It’s my desert island one song answer
I don't care what anyone says:
THIS is Led Zeppelin's best song. From their best album.
Never ever said "Oh jeez it's Kashmir again, turn that off"
Total band effort, exotic, and perfect.
I agree.
Hard to argue with you, but Babe I'm gonna leave you is right there with it. I gotcha though.
I'm approaching 69 & listened to LZ the best part of 56 years of those. I totally agree with your comment, awesome track. I also enjoy watching the video of this from the Celebration Day concert in 2007.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed
Peace
People say Zeppelin has a hypnotic quality and this song brings it out fully.
And yeah, I never switch away from it. For me it feels like it’s always been playing, and the recording is just a piece of the full thing.
This is NOT Led Zeppelin's best song.
This is Led Zeppelin's finest work. It is a masterpiece. Nothing more to be said.
Great song but they have a lot of great songs. I find it impossible to choose my favorite Zepplin song overall just my favorite of the moment.
Led Zeppelin are still the most important band in Rock n Roll history.
Bonham plays a steady 4:4 beat behind the opening melody/riff which is 6:8 time. The beats only match up every 12 bars. Solid.
What does this mean Barry
@@gandhialwaysleavesanonion679 Bonham is playing a rock 4 beats to the bar, and Page's guitar riff is playing a different tempo in 6:8 time signature. That's what gives it an unusual, uneasy feel... almost as if Bonham is getting the beat wrong. Which of course he's not.
@@barrydownard9798thanks for that explanation. I always felt like it was out of rhythm while still being totally in rhythm. I always end up bobbing my head like I'm riding a camel out in the desert lol. Epic tune.
Great name for a band... "Camel Rider and the Head Bobbers". 🙂@@brentbeardsley655
Exactly!! They loved playing with time signatures. You've got to be real tight to pull it off.
"Sat with elders of a gentle race, this world has seldom seen"
I consider this to possibly the best studio recording of all time for any rock n roll album. I hear: great vocals, great drum play, great guitar work, great bass, great organ, strings galore, possibly a synthesizer, and who know what else? They didn't waste any of this recording tape for this recording session. I can't do any justice to a music structure on this song, but the time signatures in it are brilliant!
Led Zeppelin is known for Stairway To Heaven by most, but Robert Plant said that Kashmir is their masterpiece & his favorite LZ song🎶🎤🎸 Y'all should watch the 2007 version of Kashmir when they reunited for Celebration Day at the 02 Arena!🎶 John Bonhams son, Jason ( great drummer himself) sat in for his dad and it was something to see!!🎶🎸🎵Also the 1979 Knebworth version is really great to watch...they were close to the end bc John died the next year😔🎶
Can confirm 👆 The Celebration Day version is massive, fantastic audio quality, and a great way to see the guys doing their thing. Plant's voice is much older, but he still rips out a great version that fits his voice at that time. Worth a watch for sure.
@@DrVentur3 yes!!😁🎶🎸
They were the number ONE band of our era, and they proved why everytime they performed.
We were stunned and sickened to hear John Bonham had died. It was devastating.
@@bjcee1108 I listen to them everyday🎶🎵🎸
Absolute must.
Fellas, seriously, take a look at them doing this from the 2007 Celebration Day concert with Bonzo's son on drums - they absolutely kill it
Ditto. Live performance is killer. Watch Jimi Page getting into the song.
@@ezez332 ditto #2
Not Zeppelin.
@@AleisterCrowley. But I wish we had at least that. Robert Plant says no. Which I get.
Nope, they should watch and listen to the 1979 Nebworth version of Kashmir. It is hands down the BEASTLY BEST//
Puff Daddy sampled this on the song Come with Me. In fact, Jimmy Page joined him when he did it on Saturday Night Live and played his classic riff. There are other live versions with Jimmy Page, too. Also, you have to see the 2007 Celebration concerts when Zepp performed for th3e last time and they rip this song up when they were around 60. A great exclamation point to an amazing band.
It was a travesty..beyond crap..
Celebration Day concert is 2 hours of eargasim...hard to think of a better way to spend 2 hours.
Rage in the machine, Eminem. A heavily sampled track.
@@DGW374Which Rage against the Machine and Eminem songs sampled this??
Been waiting for weeks to see you guys react to this one. You didn't disappoint. I don't know if you can fully appreciate how fantastic it is to see well informed people from a different generation experience this for the first time. The album was released on my birthday and I was in hospital. My mother bought it and brought it to me in my hospital bed. I had to sit there and look at the record jacket for a week before I could get out and put it on a turntable. I just sat there with my mouth open for an hour and a half. Remember this was 1975. It was both evolutionary and revolutionary. It still amazes me today and even more amazing to see it having the same impact on you guys nearly 50 years later. Bravo.
1975 ….seems like a dream, it was so long ago….a great year, I was discharged from the USAF and enrolled in university to become an electrical engineer! Only looked back fondly on those days…
I was 8 years old in 1975, and my Mother had this album; I distinctly remember holding the album and just staring at the cover; looking into every window; it felt familiar (we lived in the Bronx) and eerie at the same time. And of course I knew the amazing songs and sounds thar album contained. 55 now and it’s still the best music I’ve ever heard ❤
Wow! What a fantastic memory! What a fantastic mom! Most parents were yelling to turn that crap off.
@@retromom5421 Ha! Well they were only about 25 themselves at the time 😂
I remember my brother bringing it home from the record store. We wore all the Zeppelin albums out.
This song takes you on a journey like no other song ever written.
This song is like a powerful slow moving train💞✌️
You guys are not even half way through all that Zeppelin has to offer, but I'm sure you recognize their undisputed greatness.
The individuals involved are the greatest conflagration of musicianship ever assembled.
Led Zeppelin has no equal.
Thanks for keeping the greatest music alive for a new generation to enjoy guys!
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588
So why are you being picky?...
You forgot the 2017 release of the lost recordings...
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Yup, and what's left is the inevitable downwards trajectory.
I'm new to Led Zeppelin. So far, When the Levee Breaks is my favorite of theirs along with Kashmir. What songs would you recommend?
@@starwarsguy185 All of them.
There can never be another Led Zeppelin. The greatest band who ever lived and it’s not even close. Four people brought together by God. Four people who loved each other. John gone at only 32 years of age. Devastating.
It's my fav Zep song. You can hear the Moroccan/arab influence very clearly. I love how the drums sound very natural.
My all time favorite Led Zeppelin song ❤
Yes! You can lower my casket to this ❤❤🔥🔥 Thanks guys for proper react and recognition!
Such a vibe! So glad y’all liked it ☺️
All Zep songs were written out, but Plant improvised the extra emphasis and magical gift of a voice he was given... Enjoy what us older folks heard on a regular basis back in the day and just thought it was normal... Hearing this 40+ years later still gives goosebumps to say the least... Enjoy the Zep 'rabbit hole'!!!!!!
“Just thought it was normal”
It was normal, back then, but extraordinary in every way. Nothing like it before or since.
If I have any kind of privilege it’s having grown up listening to magic.
Amazing song. It's that 4 over 3 groove. And when you hear Bonham loosen up the hi-hat and toss in the snare and crash at the end, so good. I also notice all the places he could crash and he lays off. Glad you guys loved this one. Thanks. 😎👍
Yes……John understood restraint.
This is Robert Plant's favorite LZ song, as well as many fans' favorite. Thank you!
Puff Daddy, P-Diddy (or whatever he's calling himself this week) sampled it for his Godzilla song and Page even appears in the video. Henry Rollins (Black Flag, Rollins Band, spoken word artist, actor etc) has the funniest line..."Went to see Led Zeppelin when I was younger and they opened with Kashmir....it was like someone punched me in the chest w/a Buick.....
I've always maintained that the last 2 minutes of "Kashmir" is the greatest piece of music ever recorded!
Robert Plant has always used his voice like an instrument. While there's no harmonica playing in this - Plant is phenomenal on the harmonica as well. ❤
Check out the performance from 2007 of Kashmir from Celebration Day. They are older and still killing it.
The drums are in 4/4 time throughout, while the verses are principally in 6/8; so it seems straightforward, but decidedly not. This track is an epic masterpiece!
Yes, exactly, 2 different time signatures going on at the same time. Bonzo keeping a 4/4 rhythm throughout, while the rest of the instruments during each verse play in 6/8. The effect is otherworldly!
Syncopation bro'!
This is one of my top shelf rock standards. While each player here is exceptional, I'm glad you acknowledge JPJ. Even on his own he is a extraordinary instrumental force field.
Getting the Led out on a Sunday morning, you guys know how to kick off my day. This one is so damn good - Bonzo's drum part sounds simple at first, but like always he builds something incredible. Love seeing how much you enjoyed this one - peace and love from Canada☮️
Beautiful drumming.
The 1979 live version at knebworth is Totally worth the watch now guys . 🔥💥
Yes!!
And another yes here!
Bonzo is a freakin Monster on that Kit!
This track is epic from start to finish. Stairway may be Zeppelin's Everest, but Kashmir, by God, is their dark and mysterious K2. This track is Zeppelin's best.
That’s a great analogy!
My favorite Zeppelin song, wore this track out on the album.
I highly recommend checking out the live version from the Celebration Day show from 2006/7, whenever it was. 26 years after they called it quits when Bonzo died and 31 years after this song was released.
Yes John Paul killing the mellotron in this one.
Jason Bonham on his father's drum kit.
The riff has been sampled and this was in Godzilla, with Matthew Broderick.
Also 1979 at knebworth!!
Yeah definitely watch the Celebration Day performance of this track. I know a lot of people recommend Knebworth and it is great but I'm an old guy, been watching these guys for more than 50 years and there's just something about watching those old dudes do it live. It's epic!
P.S. I heard my Giants played your Dodgers this weekend. How'd that go?😂
I believe that it is a Yamaha CS-50. There is a great video of LZ playing KASH probably from the mid to late 1970's with JPJ playing one.
Guy's, my heart is uplifted when I witness the younger generation listen to and enjoy tracks that I heard back in the 70's (yes, I'm old 67) when we heard these tracks we had the same reactions, it was a time of musical innovation, Zepplin, Sabbath, Purple, Floyd and Yes, just some of my favourites and still listening to them.
This main riff evolved spontaneously from a studio jam session, which was captured on tape. After Jimmy played it, they stopped playing, replayed the tape, and Jimmy realized they were onto something special. One of rock's most epic tracks.
Masterpiece Arrangements don't get much more hypnotically superb than this. Bonz is the epitome of serving the song here. They are all on point here.
Hypnotically superb :)
Zepplin's Kashmir "riff" is one of the most ICONIC riffs ever recorded. It has been sampled or copied 1000's of times since this was released. Most of the time you will have the music track (no lyrics) playing over a scene in a show or movie as well, especially when you are looking for a "build up moment" (montage) before the main action kicks off.
Aaaaaah, finally getting to the ultimate song. That screeeeeeeeeaaaammmm in the middle as it goes back into the main riff is my favorite moment in any song possibly EVER.
That's because Plant is your way back in the song. He's a guide, but also your anchor. 😎
2007 Celebration Day. They are in their late 50's. Jason Bonham is on drums. An incredible performance.
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 no it's cool. My old ass couldn't remember.
What a present to us fathers out there. You nailed it again with this reaction to another classic by Led Zeppelin.
Wonderful one guys, just great. You know why we love your reactions so much? Because you bring fresh ears to classics that we have loved for decades. I've heard Kashmir a thousand times, but I love how you listen to each instrument and appreciate how they wove them all together to make these amazing compositions. It's almost like listening to it for the first time again. I'm a huge Zep fan but I've honestly learned a lot about their music from watching you guys. Keep up the great work gentlemen, we appreciate you!
If you decide to watch this live, I would suggest Knebworth 1979. Robert’s vocals and Bonzo’s drums are unbelievable. I love how Robert’s voice just floats along above the music in this song.
Stunning piece of music...what else can you say...its just stunningly good
Robert! My boyfriend! Saw him in a small venue in 2010. He looked right at me and said “You feel good?” Melted right there!
This song is mesmerizing, definitely one of my favorites. Check out the LIVE version though with Bonham's son on drums.
You guys need to listen to this song live from celebration day plant & page both are phenomenal
The difference with Led Zeppelin is they didn't just record albums...they created timeless artistic masterpieces ... this stuff just doesn't get old!! Revisit often my friends, the more you listen the more you appreciate... love the show guys keep it up!!
You can talk about Beatles, Stones, Who and Floyd, which were all great in their own right.....but there's never been a band as powerful and extraordinary as Zep. They're just on a different level.
Absolutely lives up to the hype. You can listen to this song a million times and still find things that you missed. For me the space for all the elements to be heard is incredible.
Fun fact for drumming and producing geeks, the drums for this song were recorded in the same stairwell in Headly Grange as When the Levee Breaks.
You said it. After 40-some years I just now consciously realized the chorus has no lyrics. 🤯
Hearing this live is amazing !
Yup, the live version from Celebration Day is definitely worth checking out. Insanely good 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks, guys, for all the amazingly righteous music and amazing analysis of the songs, instrumentation, and the soulful/unique voice of Robert Plant. The meaningful synchronicity of the keys, bass, drum, guitar, and those vocals are stunning. First Ballot Hall Of Fame music.
Your Led Zeppelin reactions have to be the most satisfying musical journey I've seen on youtube - fantastic - and there's still more to come!!
Agree completely. These gents are a satisfying Zep discovery to witness.
Now that you've hit this song you absolutely need to do the live version from celebration day with Jason Bonham ( Bonso's son) on drums. These dudes were in there late 60's and crushed this song, you get to see JPJ in all his glory making all these sounds live.
Happy Father's day guys. Some consider this LZ's best. Solid reaction, great insight 👍👍
Yes happy father's day!!👍👍
Should have a listen two "Kashmir " Celebration Day Live
i've listen to this for 40+ years and it still stops me in my tracks. Welcome to the family.
I'm 65 and remember when this album came out. I still get chills listening to this song. ❤
❤️ how you guys breakdown both the instruments & musicians, like commentators calling a NFL game! 😊 One of my favorites lines in music "I'm a traveler of both time and space to be where I have been " & named a cat Kashmir in early 80's.✌️☮️❤️🎶
did it great live on their Celebration Day video. Jason plays drums for his deceased dad. just brilliant!
Side 2 and 3 of this record is fantastic their best stuff imo.
Plant is very much an improvisational type of singer. Every time he sings a song it's different from the last time. I've seen him multiple times over the last 50 years and every time rhe songs are performed differently. You have been going through the studio albums, and by the way, you need to continue to the end or you are going to miss some absolute classics of rock history. You also need to start doing some live versions, particularly at Knebworth, MSG and O2 Arena. Studo versions are one thing but you are entering another level when you take in some of these live performances.
"A real gangster record..." - can't say I've ever heard it described that way, but you're spot on!! Zeppelin went all-in, hard, trippy, groovin' with this album - so many styles, but they all compliment each other so well. A true masterpiece!!
And as a long time listener, follower, lover of John Paul Jones - again, spot on - if you can't describe what it is, chances are, it's JPJ!! No truer words be spoken. The dynamic between JPJ & Bonham is immeasurable - definitely ranks in my top 5 rhythm sections of all time (along with Geddy Lee/Neil Peart, John Deacon/Roger Taylor...to name a couple)
Great reaction to a stellar track!
Plant's vocals and lyrics -- he has the lyrics written down, but ad libs all the time in the studio and goes all out live w the ad libbing and vocal scatting. ❤🎉
Now do the Celebration Day version
Will blow your mind
You really should watch the live Celebration Day Concert and performance of this masterpiece! It is truly amazing..they are much older and it is their last performance together. The drummer is Jason Bonham, the original drummer John Bonham's son and he gives a killer performance!! These guys definitely prove that age is just a number! It blows me away every time I watch it!
Now you know why we couldn’t wait for you guys to react to this gem. Easily one of their greatest songs. Bonzo was steady as a rock, JPJ playing everything, Page was grooving out and Plant was at his finest, improvising throughout the entire track. This is a greasy track.
Ooo Ooo yeah yeah baby let me take you there. Great reaction boys!!!
Bonhams "fills" are simply Legendary but also his tactical pauses have been analyzed and thought insanely talented as well! Bonham hits a pocket and stays until he feels a fill needs to be added. These slight personal touches of what and more of "how" he does these fills take carrying the beat to leading at times and Bonzo was able to do so only because of the incredible ability of JPJ and Page to adjust on the fly and fall in line. What you basically are experiencing is Rock on the highest musicianship level there possibly is. The layered engineering of this track is mind blowing. Watch this performance LIVE! It is a MUST listen/watch!! Enjoy~
When this came out almost all songs were about three minutes so they could be played on the radio. This is a masterpiece. A bit revolutionary. I was a young teenager when it came out. Never tire of it. Timeless.
This is just a pure and simple masterpiece that is totally timeless
Guys you killed it! Your reaction at 4:16 in, was hilarious! You both caught the Bonham single bass triplet. (which every other reactioner always misses) Like Levee, JB drives this track with the phased drum rolls and cymbal work at the end. It’s no wonder Zeppelin endures. Great stuff. 🤘😎
Caught it.
Every other reactor misses that part. He was hilarious. Almost smashing his face into the microphone.Every other reactor misses that part. He was hilarious. Almost smashing his face into the microphone.
Obviously there are things to say about Kashmir, its real string orchestra in addition to JPJ,Bonham's Drums , Robert 's voice!!! The trip to other countries with sounds brought back by Jimmy Page...But,! You :guys are perfect, for your reaction and for having seen your pleasure in hearing this piece of art : AHuge Thanks, Huge!!!!!!
70’s light a blunt and put this on headphones from the album! Takes me back 40+ years!
When this song first hit, it's all Anyone could talk about! It was so UN-usual for it's time. Much like "Four Sticks" I think it was based on their fascination with Morocco. JPJ's arrangement & orchestration on this is next level..I can't wait till you guys get to
"IN THE LIGHT"...JPJ's masterpiece..
The Moroccan desert sweeps in and takes us to a different time and space. Straight up 🔥
Feeling it the way we all felt it first time. Just jaw dropping. Everything you said. JPP = Orchestra. Bonzo is the groove. Plant singing every note. What isn't up front, but very much part of the song is the 12 string guitar playing with strings on the 2nd section. Page killin' it in the backround. Love you guys for what you do. Thank you.
I heard an interview with John Anderson the lead singer of the band Yes. He said when he first heard Kashmir he was ready to give up music saying I could never write something that epic.
It is a masterpiece, and whether you are, or not a fan of Led Zeppelin you can't deny just how much this song has crossed all forms of music it is a song for the ages.
If you like Kashmir, wait until you get to Achilles Last Stand!!! Another level of mastery, especially by Bonham!! That’s another one you have to listen to live from 1979!
agreed!
Hey Fellas. Another great Zeppelin song! They really covered a wide variety of musical styles. You never knew quite what you were going to get when you listened to a Led Zeppelin song. You should really check out the live version of this one from the Celebration Day concert at the 02 Arena in London, which I believe was 2006? It had Robert, Jimmy, and JPJ joined by Jason Bonham (John's son) on drums. It really was done beautifully in this performance, it's truly worth a listen. Enjoyed your reaction, as always. Peace.
"Signifying Rapper" by Schoolly D samples "Kashmir" and the song was also heard in the film "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" when Mark Ratner goes on his date with Stacy Hamilton.
Rat, you gotta have the attitude.
@@dickcnormous4202 "And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV."

Unfortunately this song got played on the radio alot. Got burnt out from all the radio play. Sounds good 40 years later. Do not radio anymore. Thanks for awakening my appreciation for it again. You fellas are the best. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Haha, nice! Been radio free for ten years and counting...
The simple truth about Robert Plant is that he can simply go anywhere the song needs to go, and he can do it with finesse and emotion. Side note, I can't wait till you get to Ten Years Gone. Low key one of their best.
Ten Years Gone and In The Light, hang the f on, and you may as well get that Cognac and j bar ready😁
An absolute musical masterpiece!! Nobody can do like the mighty Zeppelin!!! Those 4 were put on this earth to be the most powerful band to ever grace the planet!!! ….They answered the call….Robert has arguably the best voice in rock…as far as freestyling…he wrote the lyrics so he knows what he’s talking about!!! Loving yourZeppelin journey guys….keep up the great music☮️
Check out the Knebworth 1979 concert performance. The camera work lets you see Bonham in full flight. Magnificent.
Now that you've their 1975 studio version, you need to see them perform it live from Celebration Day 2007. Besides their age, the only thing different is Bonzo's son playing drums. Talent? You be the judge.
Been waiting for you guys to get to this epic! It’s probably my favorite Zep song, which says a LOT, considering how many legendary songs they have. Bonzo, JPJ and Page all put you in a mesmerized trance with the steady and heavy groove. It has a middle eastern feel with mythic lyrics. Plant has an INCREDIBLE delivery which completely jives with the instrumental and lyrical theme. This entire song is genius.
Better late than never to the Led Zeppelin party boys!!!! I have been listen to this song lighting up fat bars since it came out 45 plus years ago!
Always has been my fav song
One of my favorite Zep songs. Such a vibe!
Hey guys! Ya got me! I finally subbed! So enjoying your reactions. Probably because of the songs you guys select - many of my most fav pieces of music from 65 yrs of living - over 40 of them in the music biz.
I’m so happy you can recognize the quality of the songs and the radical superiority of the musicianship!
Peace
I've had this album for years on CD and LP, and until I saw this video, I've never noticed that there seems to be a giant heart on the album cover.
Three geniuses, and one follower. Led Zeppelin
The song is in 6/8 time and Bonzo is playing in 4/4 time! Jpj got to the studio late when Jimmy Page and the others were finishing up the song! The song is mainly backed up buy strings and horn sections from a orchestra! The only time Jimmy put back up musicians on their songs! Jpj added the mellotron late in the recording what you hear mostly is Jimmy's hypnotic riff in dadgag tuning and a full orchestra! That's what carries the song! The orchestra was a lot of Arab musicians from Morocco that's why this song has a Arabian feel to it! Jimmy is a wizard!
Happy Father's Day to you gentlemen! This is my absolute favorite Zeppelin song!! Yes, Bonham was off the chain, and so was Plant. The musicianship on this one single is so superior, there is no rival.
Rewatching you react to this made my day. I saw my friends band Sat night. They're a phenominal cover band and slay Zeppelin ❤
Classic Zeppelin…Great breakdown ✊
I already know I’m going to like this review. Let’s get into it.
If you guys could react to Kashmir live at the Celebration Day concert you’ll see them do it amazingly well live when they are quite a bit older - and Page is still brilliant! Plus Jason Bonham is great on the drums.
Looks like they tried to but it was pulled because of some copyright salad.
brother we understand Bonz doing doubles and triples always a treat!!!
Now watch the live version from 2012 reunion. Best rock performance of all time.
I saw Zep the tour before this album was released. 6th row center. Probably under 15 bucks. Tried to get tix for this tour. Spent the night sleeping on cold concrete- 20 degrees with 20 mph winds. Woke up to a crowd that threw away our stuff we put at the front of the line to hold our spot. That’s what security told us to do. Only sold tickets at one place, and it was so jam packed that once you had your ticket. You had to be lifted over the crowd and body surf to get out.
The good ole days before computer bots bought them all and sold them for 10x the price. Blackberry brandy, dime bag and piece of cardboard and wait until Ticketmaster opened, lol
