- This Dell LATITUDE D830 will Power on But will Have Black Screen, no system boots up only what you see is some symbols for 1 second and beep bios restart. Wen I took it apart I find some water damage but it was not a problem in this case. It was GPU FAIL and to fix it I Reflow the GPU with Heater gun, Now it boots up all good and running well. i test this D830 for all day and have no problems with it

I recently tried this on a Dell D820 that refused to display. After a few attempts of heating the video chip area it came to life but temporarily. Once it's on it stays on and works perfectly but once it's switched off it can take sometimes up to 25 to 30 attempts to turn it on before it comes back on. Any ideas ? More cooking maybe ?

I have Dell Latitude 810 similar to this, its screen is very dark! but i can see text on screen with touch, probably back light! but. but some time screen works normal for 5min, but some time starts dim. what is it? the inverter problem of backlight or lcd panel? what should i do?

My Goodness I need your help! How do we contact You? I have the same dell d830 it boots up but the screen is grey with vertical lines and then turns black and super foggy . Do you know what this is? Also with an elderly laptop like this how do we try to save our files if we can't see the screen?????

Sadly, reflow is always temporary. It may be the next week or the next year, but it will eventually fail again, and quite probably, for good.
I don't know why but after some time I have always the same issue
I have 2 Dell D830; one of them would not come on, a year or so ago; i did what you describe,saw it on a youtube video,(i heated it up A LOT,the thing turned brownish in color!!! used aluminum foil to protect the surroundings)) and to my surprise...it still works ;
B U T ...i think it's the heat up and cool down cycles is what does the solders in;
S O.... i now have one of those laptop cooler pads,USB connected, with the fans U N D E R it;
It stays C O O L , C O O L, A L L the time;
No More Cycling Cold»»»Hot»»»Cold;

привет, мне попался такой же, нужно установить 10, то есть с усб стика, но в биосе отключена функция, как включить, метод научного тыка не помогает и как мне кажется биос просит пароль какой то, в первые такое встречаю
Попробуй f10 f11 f12.при включение. А пароль если просит попробуй 0000
@@gav696 англоязычный Ютуб помог. Играет роль регистр букв. Есть сайты которые показывают этот пароль внося серийный номер ноута, но нужно соблюдать регистр и вносить на сайте серийное большими буквами и он показывает верный админ пароль. После внесения биос различился и я смог добавить загрузку с усб накопителя
