The 10th MNT Div. is so elite that it left me with back and knee problems.
😂😂😂
I’m confused if you are in 10th are you only infantry or do they have medics in it or do they just use regular 68w
😂 😂 😂
that sounds very elite

I spent 11 years at FDNY in the 10th Mountain Division as a 12B (Combat Engineer). Loved it. The video is very accurate concerning the high number of deployments and schools. The training is tough and often. I loved it when soldiers from the mechanized army would rotate into Fort Drum. The mech soldiers would wig out when they were told we were walking 20 miles to go to the woods to start the exercise. I also know that when I attended schools away from FDNY with soldiers from other divisions (including 101st and 82nd), I was always in much better physical shape than the other soldiers.
Lmfao 🤣 that’s some jive

I spent 5 years at ft. Drum and 2 deployments with them. It's all what you make it. I loved the outdoor activities you can do there in New York. I also did a year in Honduras and that is the best place to be stationed in the army.

When I was in the USMC the crayon thing was not around... however a young PFC did ask me if he snorted a whole chalk crayon if I would give him a $1. I gave him the $1. It was the single grossest thing I've see IRL and I've seen some stuff. I swear to G-d this story is true and I've been telling it for decades. Not my best story but it is one of them.

Don't know how I stumbled across this video, but I am glad I did. I was in 4th Brigade in 05-09. I hated it then, but I'm proud of it now.
Also, some of that video is of them in Djibouti a few years back now. I've seen a few 10th Mountain Units pop up in Africa over the years that I've been contracting out here.
lol General Discharge is not going to be happy 🤣
Right?!!! I don't even think they gave them a shoutout! Lol
Lol it was no disrespect lol
Lol what I find funny was that at the final of the video the guy said "hm I think that unlearn things from this video" LOL
I was Fco 51st INF LRSC....
And we deployed all the damn time! That being said, my first team leader was 10th Mountain division and he taught me a lot. Also we were attached to the 10th mountain in the initial Invasion into Iraq in 2003.

Fort Polk 10th MTN 2019-2021. We wore the mtn patch my whole time there, the Texas T was just disbanded right before I got there. First week there jumped right into a rotation. 1 deployment, 3 JRTCs, 4 MTN peaks, 5 SFAB rotations, many more ftx’s in little over 2 years. Swamp life🤙🏼
So 3rd brigade actually goes on combat deployments?
@@Bootyeatter6969yeah I deployed to Iraq in 2017 with 3rd brigade.
I was in 3/14th INF BN HHC Scout PLT. Later, A Company as a TM LDR & SQD LDR. I remember winters and doing PT is snow storms. Training was pretty much non-stop and challenging. We were issued WW2 skis and snow shoes. Got a three hour class and then hit the local training area. Prior to being in the 10th MTN DIV I was in 1/504 INF BN 82nd ABN DIV. Went to Recondo School and wound up in the Recon PLT. Learned a lot in both units, however, being in the 10th MTN DIV was truly a kick in the nuts!
Thx for your service. Love the content for the most part. Take care!

I was with 2-22 Inf. at Fort Drum. 2001-06. Went to OEF 03-04, and OIF 05-06. When I wasn’t deployed, I did funeral detail in the New England area. Didn’t do guard duty or EIB training or even West Point. Fort Drum sent soldiers there to train the cadets at times.
A triple deucer
I’m there right now lol
oh man, i was with 10th mtn at Drum from 2012-2015, and i loved it, by far the best place i was stationed. they have a huge hard on for ranger, even in the cav they sent anyone who was qualified and willing to go. and working with the canadians was awesome

Was apart of the Dirty 30 in 2012 -15 now apart of DA Deuce in FDNY. Love the videos 🤙
Yooooo
We still 10th MNT at Ft. Polk. I haven’t seen the TX NG here anymore so idk .
Yep, when I first got there in 2018, we wore the Texas T. Then a bit after my unit came back from deployment. (I didn't get deployed as I had JUST got to Polk.) We changed to the 10th Mountain patch
I was in 3BCT 3/71 Cav from 2006 to 2011 before they moved down to Polk.
Correction, everyone TRIES to go to Pre-Ranger school. I went in 2009. A lot can't even make it past the Ranger Physical Fitness Test. Then a lot end up getting sent home for not having everything on the packing list. Me and my roomie went through at the same time, we both made it through all the training, but he ended up getting peered out. lol I miss that shit.
My uncle was in the 10th mountain and is actually the reason I wanna join the army bc my entire life he has been my idol

The 3-172MTN VTARNG wears the mountain tab ,the 86th IBCT MTN runs mountain school in VT,they are the true MTN unit in the sense that they actually do military mountaineering.

For a while weren’t they the stand in when the Polk brigade was under the 36th infantry so they in a way actually brought the mountain warfare title to the 10th
Ft. Drum was my first duty station back in 1987. We stayed on the old post while the new post was being built. It's a shit hole, but it holds a special place in my heart.
Hey Nikko just wanted to say love your content! Also I do want to say I am in the Guard and with the 86th ID and my unit patch does have the mountain tab. It’s a buck with a mountain tab. I think we are the only ones that can wear it besides 10th mountain.
If I remember correctly I think the General Discharge guys are Recon Marines. If you go back far enough on their channel they talk about it a little.
Lived in Carthage New York for a couple years while my Dad was stationed at Drum with the 1/7 Artillery. Only reason I liked it there was because I had family that lived there… otherwise I would have hated it there because of all the damn snow.

Cool video I am currently part of the 10th MTN Div. (FDNY) However I am in a National Guard unit called The Main Command Post Operational Detachment(MCPOD) Anyway it's an interesting unit. Ft. Drum was my last active duty post before joining the National Guard in 2010
That's me Lankford in your video that's when we did squad sticks while we were deployed in africa
I was a firefighter at Polk for a few years civilian employee. Loved it my wife was a JAG Barksdale AFB
Just a fun story you probably remember from Mountina Peak in 2018 I think? When some Private Smith from an infantry battalion just stood up and said F-it and then went awol. I remember they entire Brigade telling us to go 50 feet into the woods and yell out for Private Smith.
Bro I think I was at this mtn peak. I don’t remember what exactly happened but I do remember like a two day long pause ex😂😂
My grandpa was a member of e company, 86th regiment, 10th Mountain division during WW2.
I can talk on the Canadian forces training alot with us. I was at Drum and while my unit personally never worked with Canadian forces, I would every now and then see them in the DFAC which was pretty cool
I remember when I was there hearing about a bunch of Canadians getting lost out in the field so some 10th MTN guys had to go out and find them. Coulda been lies but a whole heck of a lot of ppl were talking about it.
Hell yeah I was with 5-25 as a 2.2 battalion fister . Awesome to see your vids brother
My great grandfather was in the first iteration of the 10th mountain division.

Even if you become a pog and get shit for it, keep in mind your apart of the reason why grunts can get to a firefight no matter what you do
Spent a few years up at drum. Was a scout in 1/89 cav 2nd brigade.
When I was 10th mountain division 3bct 2-87 it was still at fort drum. Was deployed to Afghanistan 2011 to 2012.
I was in 2-12cav 1abct 1st cav as my first unit 2-101cav nyng then my last unit was 3-71cav 1bct 10th mnt div and by far did much more with 10th than the other two and loved it up there. Definitely more high speed than 2-12 but the national guard was definitely more close knit, probably because we were up each other's assets all the time and came together once a month
There's a 371 cav in 1bct ? I was 3bct 371 cav
@joehatten9171 yes sir 1-71 & 3-71 combined into one squadron in 2015 to be re-flagged as 3-71 CAV for 1 brigade combat team

My great grandpa served in the 10th mtn division during ww2 gotta say he was a total badass
Facts
@@nikkoortiz I’ll tell a short story about him that has been told in my family for while:
So he was the sergeant of his squad as was also assigned himself the designated scout and one snowy night in the Italian mountains he decides after he and his squad are their all set up on the base of this hill he goes up it to check the perimeter and spots an actual nazi officer (not an Italian, actual German), before my great grandfather could react the nazi spots him also and pulls out his Luger and fires at my great grandfather so the first thing my grandpa does is roll down the hill like a maniac and (keep in mind his jacket is unbuttoned) once he heard the distinctive sound of the firing pin going off when the Luger ran out of ammo my grandfather stands up pops the officer, when that was done he looks down to check for any holes and none of them hit him but his jacket was riddled with holes. To this day my great grandma still has that jacket and the Luger (which had the officer’s name engraved on it) as a war trophy.
