The torch has been passed. All hail queen Demi. The undisputed champion. What a year she has had. Dominant is an understatement. Destroying. This season has put Demi Vollering on GOAT mountain already. Can she add world champion to her palmares ?
Kasia is a legend who's consistency over the years has been astonishing. Always in the leading group, her pure heart is inspiring. She's one of the big dogs. And she is progressing.
Lotte Kopecky is a straight machine. I first saw her as an unknown young sprinter at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She did a 2hr solo breakaway along the beautiful Rio coastline. She showed that day that she was more than just a sprinter. She was a GC rider. She finished down the order after that mammoth effort. But the terrain was hilly and you knew she would be good in the classics. But what she has shown this year and at this Tour de France, is almost as impressive as what Demi did. Her climb up the mighty Toumalet and time trial prowess, signals to me, that she will shift teams in the very near future. Where should she go ?
Lotte Kopecky came 2nd in the World Championships and 4th at the Olympics. Demi Vollering vs Lotte Kopecky maybe the next Anna Van der breggen vs Annemiek Van Vleuten. Especially if Lotte keeps improving her already impressive climbing skills. The big one day races are all definitely up for grabs. If theirs no big mountains. She's in with a shout.
Annemiek Van Vleuten is a rider who reinvented herself into a climber. At the Rio Olympics the commentators didn't even mention her as a contender. Why ? Because she had previously never shown herself to be a pure climber. She smoked everyone but superclimber Mara Abott of the USA up that final brutal jungle mountain climb, including Anna Van der breggen, her teammate who was supposed to be the one. Her and fellow legends Elisa Longo Borghini and Emma Johansson of Sweden were a minute back with Lizzy Armistead (Deignan) and Kasia Newiadoma a further 10 seconds back. Legends chasing legends. What an amazing race that was.

Really enjoyed following the tour femmes. Wish it could have been easier to find all the extended highlights episodes, though. Maybe it's me not knowing how to use RUclips properly, but I found it easier to get to the extended highlights for the men's tour.

Outstanding racing and commentary in all regards. Perhaps more and extended coverage of the races in future events. Chapeau to everyone who had a positive effect on making this happen.

SDWorkx reminds me of Warriors 2017, created a superteam just to beat the great Lebron, and i believe SDWorx doing the same thing here just to beat the great Van Vleuten 😂

Breaks my heart to see the great Annemiek Van Vleuten lose like this. But she fought for this with everything she had. As she always has.
2 x World Time Trial Championships
2 x World Road Race Championships
1 x Olympics Time Trial gold
1 x Olympics Road Race silver.
    4 x Giro Donne
    2 x Vuelta
    2 x Ronde Van Vlaanderen
Should of had gold at the Rio Olympics Road Race if not for that unfortunate crash whilst descending a brutal jungle mountain climb, while in a commanding lead with 10 km to go. And she probably would have gone on to win gold in the time trial as well. By rights Annemiek Van Vleuten should be sitting on 4 Olympic gold medals.
And in 2020 she crashed out of the Giro while leading only to return the following week with a freshly operated on wrist, to take silver at the World championships. She probably would have won another World Championships if not for that injury. She's as tough as they come.
What an illustrious career Annemiek Van Vleuten has had. Legendary. 103 victories. And all epic. The greatest of all time....
