Can wait for the 500 underwater hydrocouli and an aranara sized quest that is needed to get your diving certificate. In truth I actually really enjoyed the aranara quest and i really want a quest like that in Fontaine.

Fontaine literally divided their nations as a symbolism of justice, and the ones who are guilty are suffer from nation's mishap. And when the secret is unfolded here, it can lead to the war between heaven (Celestia) and hell (Abyss) at Teyvat.

considering that genshin get obviously inspiration in magi: the kingdom of magic sometimes, i imagine that maybe someone will try to solve the energy crisis of fontaine using the guilty people's life as power supply, like happens in magnostadt with the goi people
We've met people of fontaine and snezhnaya even before we went to their nation but we never met anyone from natlan in other nations. So far i'm more curious about natlan than any other region
In Inazuma there's 2 NPCs mentioning Natlan having natural hotsprings, one of them has been there. Though maybe they were just visiting and haven't lived there
as a French I like to search for some references from my country that could inspired Mihoyo to create Fontaine, like the whole political and judiciar system makes me think to the post revolution era known as the Terror and Robespierre for Focalor as she may be hysterical and instaured it, the underground water circuits could be a reference to Versailles gardens one of if not the most sophisticated in the world, the advanced technology could also be for the scientific knowledge as France was one of the pioneer in that domain with for example Lavoisier and Marie Curie could be linked with the lot of nuclear energy we use and the ecology problematic in Fontaine.

As a japanese I can confirm that I was excited to see Inazuma back then, and I must say they really nailed the impression, especially small things, and the historical references.

As a person from the middle east, kinda yeah, i mean i LOVED the desert since it was inspired by my culture, and the LORE! I loved the lore. but the rainforest didn’t have that much lore, it felt more deserted than the desert. although i could be biased.
It's also interesting that Ningguang mentioned that Charlotte being sent out to cover the TCG tournament was some kind of "punishment", or at least having her out of the way for a time; because apperently, her reporting stepped on the toes of some important personality.
You forget a really important Npc: in Inazuma near the Smith and watermill is a little Girl and she said in Fontaine are "flying ships" and also something like a train system 😊
It really sounds awesome and makes sense for a technical land
she heard those that from another npc. The other guy (I can't remember his name) mentions that the things he said to Midori (the little girl) aren't true. Midori also claims that the people of Sumeru eat grass so she clearly doesn't know what she is talking about.
It would be cool the have flying ships, but don't get your hopes up.
Im so exited for Fontaine. I hope the story is just as emotional as the Sumeru archon quest. Super exited to hear some new wonderful music from it too! I wonder how the traveler will wield hydro too.
i hope they made a seperate mini map if there is an underwater cave or smthing.. i dont wanna get lost like i explore in sumeru's cave lmao

There's really no excuse for not having a map of such a complex cave system in game. It could very well be a map that draws itself as you explore, so as to not spoil what the cave is like.
And they could simply put a toggle on the game settings for the underground map. For those that want better navigation, they can turn it on, for those that want remain blind in the caves for the sensation of getting lost and the adventure, they can turn it off.
A lot of people struggled in Sumeru's caves. There's no reason to cripple the experience of a considerable chunk of the playerbase (which is possibly the majority, actually) just to please a few, when you can give players a choice of how to experience it.
The fact alone that Fontaine is divided into specifically two factions is already a big tribute to real-life courts where no court has a unified and absolute group because oppositions are always deemed crucial in a courtroom.
I bet all my money that either Sandrone or Dottore will be the main antagonist, since Fountaine is nation with high mechanical constructions, and as well the perfect nation for crimes without breaking the law.
Finally getting rid of Dottore would be so satisfying

And be forced to face my fear of being underwater where any aquatic monsters could come at me from any direction. A recent phobia I discovered while canoeing on a deep lake. I'm gonna convince myself it's some type of exposure therapy and remind myself that I'm actually in a chair in my home. Perfectly safe and not about to become eel-food. Oh boy.

@@LilianaKali Hope you can conquer that fear! LiliaTV has (had?) phobia of underwater and large abandoned human-made structures underwater (yes, super specific, but it exists). Guess what? She reached the end of Subnautica! It was a tough ride for her, but shows you may just succeed just as well!
This feels like an excellent prep video to go into 4.0 with! So much of this information is from past events, so it's nice to condense the need-to-know information here. Definitely a video I'll revist at 3.8's end. Also, your prediction for where Fontaine is has been the most believeable I've seen so far. So many people are thinking it's going to be the entire land mass from the newest desert/marsh area to Stormterror's Lair and then twice the width away from that, and it's simply just not adding up. I do think, though, that the newer Liyue areas will be slightly smaller than you theorize, mainly because "villages" wouldn't take up an area as big as one of Sumeru's deserts I don't think.
As far as I know the rumored new Liyue area is called Chenyu Vale, and the village you mentioned should be a part of said region. So I think that could be a bigger portion of the map
Another thing that probably people know. That we're already pretty famous in Fontaine. The vibrocrystal and other battle related events has our name on their thesis, we're already been given editors weeks worth of content for their newspapers, add the movie that the engineer of mikage furnace. Boom, you're now a celebrity in Fontaine.

We've already known how abyssal energy could potentially be stronger than celestial energy from Caribert storyline (it can ended the curse). Was this why Celestial felt threatened and had to stop them beforehand? Now we get to fontaine, where they 1. have an energy crisis 2. trying to combine abyssal and celestial energy to create sth that hopefully will solve their huge problem. and might I remind you that 3. Celestial is ABOVE THEM RIGHT NOW. THEY ARE KEEPING AN EYE ON THEM. If we're looking at the description from Varunada Lazurite Gemstone: "My ideals have no stains. I must correct you. People here bear no sins in the eyes of the gods... Only laws and the Tribunal can judge someone. They can judge even me. So praise my magnificence and purity." From Dain, he said "Seeking to judge other gods. But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine". This incredibly sounds like she's scared of Celestial, will nuke her nation if her nation continues to get more advanced. So the only way she can do right now, is to "masquerade" it. Trying to make her nation to be "pure". No one there is guilty. If anyone's guilty, they will be taken away. What if (plot twist), she's the one weakening her nation by secretly creating those energy crisis? Remember: the chapter is called "Masquerade of the guilty". It's very ironic that the god of justice is guilty. After all, Focalors = "Faux" + "Alors" meaning "Fake then".
The six cardinal sins also aren't cardinal for nothing. And Khaenri'ah seems to have commited all of them.
Also more information about the Schwanenritter and Amfortas and the heroes of Dahri/Khaenri'ah. Hoping the Hydro nation uncover the lies of Celestia and bring justice to the truth.
based on the storyline trailer, it seems like from fontaine & forward the story going to focus more about celestia & the secrets of tevyat. If this is an anime, then we're already at the middle episode close to ending
I think due to nahida said that focalors would have a unique personality. I think she would be like a playfull person as seen that she enjoys herself in the court. And from the look of her design, i think the seiyuu (japanese voice) that would perfectly fits her is Inori Minase
I can see her possibly being a control freak since she upholds her kind of justice, won't be surprised if every trial is a form of entertainment for her. But I'm sure she's doing her best for the people, but probably be corrupted by the fatui and also she's scardd of going against Celestia
Besides Nahihi's interpretation of unique personality can be good or bad, but the only way is when we see her face to face.
Playful doesn’t quite fit it, it would feel like a recycled Venti, which when you think about it, Nahida knows Venti, and he is very playful, so if Focalors was playful too, then Nahida wouldn’t describe it as a unique personality trait. Besides, she’s a judge, wouldn’t put it past her to be a wild card, or a total drama queen.

1.On the quest we meet again (second Quest where Dainsleif apppears) Ganyu and Lan say that the treasure horder brings a master thief from Fontaine who is famous this could mean there are masters betweeen the seven nations and also the Fontaine master thief is dead.
2. Fontaine is a nation where all the fatui must go before their assigment missions because the Hydro nation must provide equipment to them also it has an agreement with the Cryo nation Snezchnaya
Seeing this video after Fontaine was released and delving into the story definitely helps confirm and debunk most of these theories like catapillar is a speaking hilichurl and the location of fontaine isn't so flat on the top of the map etc

Julien was blessed to be able to draw what he sees perfectly but failed as an artist due to being colorblind and so he turned to utilizing it for illegal purposes, eventually getting caught and punished
I've seen "colour blind" works of art before and they're STUNNING. A shame this guy wasn't appreciated.

No, no, there are no drawbacks. Rather, there are "drawbacks" in the world itself. For example, Diona tries to make disgusting drinks ONLY because she hates how alcoholic her father is and alcohol itself while also being an amazing mixologist when making said alcoholic drinks.
In the case of Julien he's seen that way because there are strict (and also stupid) laws and regulations in Fontaine; he could've lived happily and be rich, but "the law" decided that recreating certain works and scenes perfectly is a "useless and harmful ability" because it "violates copyright laws" and etc. I hope I explained everything well.

Thank you for creating this amazing Fontaine recap video. We're soon about to get there and the hype can be felt around the horizon.
Arapas (the aranara obsessed with pure water in the culinary Aranyaka world quest) said that north of Vanarana there would be water of even higher purity than the water in Vanarana and they'd like to have a taste of that water someday. I always thought they're referencing the purity of Fontaine waters since the speculation is that Fontaine is somewhere north of Sumeru. Would be interesting though that the area north of forest sumeru would still be Liyue's area but that actually makes a lot of sense.
Random thought but what if Fontaine gets destroyed by celestia at the end. Basically punishing all parties fatui, Fontaine for basically pushing technology to far and the traveler and co for being an outsider

That Celestial power looks just like what we see the Traveller use to strike Asmoday with at the start of the game. Aether and Lumine weild this arcing golden yellow electricity looking power that explodes on impact. Khvarena has that purifying effect on dark abyssal power/corruption and their powers probably aren't as completely sealed up as Traveller thinks because they were able to purify Dvalin's tear with just a touch. Way cool!
Sumeru also share a border with Fontaine, as mentioned at the end of Cyno's story quest.

I think the metal boxes Julien referred are basically the Slums of Fontaine, where both the guilty and poor people live.
I'm very interested to see just how Fontaine's water is the purest even with the pollution situation. How are they possibly preserving these areas? And, how long would they be able to keep that up? ♡
im just guessing but maybe the swim system is like sorush flying. cause usually if you see carefully they tested them first in version before. like enkanomiya to test the underground map etc then they release chasm.

The more I hear about Fontaine the more it seems like Belobog from Honkai Star Rail. The underground systems, unjust court, steampunk environment etc.
i think the ending story of fontaine is to back off from being too advance nation in order to thrive and not to piss off celestia too.

@@sussynanibaka69 Not every story has to have a good ending, though. This could be one of the hero got defeated kinda points in the story. That said, it feels a bit too early (maybe) for the bad ending deal that prompts the protagonist to get better to not mess up next time.
man, just realized all NPC's from Fontaine we seen so far wears red clothes, same with Charlotte, and the trailer shows water (blue) themed areas and npcs. I guess we will only be seeing true Fontaine in 4.1
I'm really excited for the sewers being like underground settlements or even a city, similar to Amegakure or the undergorund in AOT lol gives it the extra spice to the "perfect" city on the top with classical buildings and the elite
It would be cool to see more Treasure Hoarder variants considering there headquarters are in Fontaine, imagine Treasure Hoarders with guns, mech suits.
I think that likely factories don't care about pollution precisely because the water in Fontaine is so pure. It likely can absorb a lot of pollution which makes the people think that dumping their waste into it has no consequence. They probably have been doing it for a long time, but then only now the water is failing and the pollution is building up, like with the Ganges River
Great refresher on easily-missed lore. I'm not sure if Chenyu Vale would stretch all the way to the coast as the hypothetical image shows, though. If it did, Sumeru would not border Fontaine at all, which wouldn't be consistent with the NPC Nabil's comments in Cyno's story quest: "I even heard that someone was about to escape to Fontaine but was still apprehended just at the border."
Just a theory but please be free to let me know what you think as well! -
After seeing this video and the Fontaine teaser we can make out that the guilty population live in the underground/sewer area. In the trailer we see the Melusine hiding this could indicate that she might be part of the justice system of Fontaine as she is keeping a close eye on the guilty ones/or does not want the people to see her as she is part of the justice system. We might also say that the Melusine are part of the justice/security system as we can see on the boat which the traveler is headed on this could show that they are maintaining a close watch on the outlander and making sure they follow the rules and regulations of the city of justice.

Considering the possible location of Fontaine, shouldn't they reveal Qiaoying and Chenyu before revealing Fontaine? Quite a hassle if can enter Fontaine only through Monstadt
I'm hoping they introduce Qiaoying village first because it's been mentioned a couple of times by characters
I doubt this theorized map. I think we may be entering on foot through a less used route from Sumeru (similar to Chasm exiting path), even though the typical entries for Teyvat natives is through Liyue on foot, or past Mondstadt (Dornman Port) by boat. There may also be a path through Stormterror's Lair, but that'd be a defunct route for many, many centuries and may have its own pre-Archons story to explain it (God of 'Storms' adjacent to 'Hydro' region, after all).
I'd be surprised that the full Liyue goes as far west as Cat suggests. They can still fit the Chenyu Vale, nearby mountains, and Qiaoying Village in a smaller area than that, and it'd still be quite sizable. It may cut into being above Sumeru, but not so much of it. I tend to believe we'll see Mondstadt (in place of of early Sumeru Desert or Enka) and Liyue (in place of late Sumeru Desert or Chasm) expansions before Natlan next year, and we can get the Liyue one tie together Fontaine and Liyue stories (especially with its area village reputation for tea - the liquid herbs).
There may (or may not) still be room for at least one or two more Liyue expansions after 2024. We still haven't seen the extent of Blackcliff Forge, the developers may have avoided shorelines for a reason, and there could be other twists in store. There is a Yilong Port, but we don't know where it is (close to Quioying in the north, or elsewhere?).
As you mentioned them, I couldn't help wondering if abyssal and celestial energies could become usable by upcoming characters as if they were elements... That could add some new spice as we get closer to the end.

I think you exagerated in the the new liyue regions i think fontaine connects to sumeru but there is maybe a main road that connects fontaine and sumeru and pass through liyue territory maybe the village that some NPCS mentions can be a "supply station" for adventures and merchants to rest and prepare their things

Regarding Liyue's Chenyu Vale expansion which I'm almost certain should be coming next update in 3.8. I find it hard to believe that an expansion that large will come out next update in 3.8 right before another massive expansion in 4.0 being Fontaine. My guess is that it's much smaller than what you showed or only a small part is going to be released. But hey maybe this will age like milk and we get a massive expansion two updates in a row. I wouldn't complain about that.

Well that nap there kinda matches with what we know of celestia's location. Celestia is said to be above Fontain as of now and Celestia is somewhere near where the Fountain logo appeared in that last map pic...

Inazuma feels like yesterday. When it was almost 3.0 I quit genshin because my iPad couldn’t handle it anymore. I miss playing it though, I’m looking forward for Fontaine and other regions as well. Can’t believe in 2 years this game will finally end.

this was a good video, but i disagree about the location of chenyu vale. i had always assumed that it and the blackcliff forge would be near each other in the south of liyue - which would "connect" liyue harbor and the southern parts of the chasm together. the area there looks sort of mountainous, and would smoothly connect to the nearby mountain range

Anyway I wonder if there will be any environmental changes after the Archon quest, it'd be pretty neat if there is. Like when we first get to the city there will be a lot of smog and barely any sunlight but after the quest the smog will clear up a bit.

So the HP draining environment in Fontaine is polluted water. (Ex. the Cold on DragonSpine, the Static on Yashiori/Kannazuka/Seirai, darkness in the Chasm) Mihoyo gets to thinking! We need clean waters.
