    I was thinking about Albedo's perception of the world, and from the way his paintings actually look like the things they portray/how he can interact with regular humans without terrifying them I don't think he's the same as Durin or Elynas.
    Maybe that was Gold's "success" with Albedo, creating a form of life without using a consciousness from the Abyss. From what Elynas describes, it's clear that he existed before Gold embodied him on Teyvat, as such, his perception of the world was limited by what he truly was. For Albedo, perhaps it was her first success in creating truly new life- instead of just creating a body for something that already existed.

Also I'm curious about how the Melusines perceive the world, if they see everything "inverted" like Elynas and Durin, they see Traveler as a monster that can destroy the world, which means he's the opposite and that makes sense, but they also see Paimon as a ball of rainbows...

    Fontaine is an evolution to previous versions, Fontaine world quests are directly connected to the Archon quest and not just showing hints of world quest' deep lore.
    Since the Archon quest is incomplete means that there is a chance that world quest characters could finally show up in the Archon quest, Genshin has never done this before where world quest characters remained as side characters never mentioned in the Archon Quest. cmiiw

      Though the good thing is that all connected lore is confined within the game, though time consuming and lots of reading. Unlike their parent story Honkai, in which their stories are scattered within several media; game, manga, visual novel etc. It's likely developers learned from the mistake of scattered lore into several media, thus compiling all available lore within Genshin, which can work due to its open world nature.

    Little bit of a Crack theory with evidence(?) ig, Arlecchino is actually Mary-Ann. Now Mary-Ann died during the conflict between her Jakob and several other members when she was tasked with capturing them,. But what if like Jakob she came into contact with the dark blood of Elynas, which would explain Arlecchino’s black hands, deep red nails and strange eyes. It could’ve had a major side affects on her causing her a major shift in personality(Like Childe) and appearance her (ghastly white hair with blacks and reds). Arlecchino takes advantage of people and does what benefits her(Mary-Ann came into conflict with her former “family” members bc they were deemed a threat, this portion of herself could’ve been amplified and turned into something twisted by the power of the abyss in Elynas’ blood. Technically “Mary-Ann” is dead while “Arlecchino” is her new facade, “Very fun. But it's not enough. Let me make something clear. You think of yourselves as "magicians", But when you're on the stage, you're first and foremost actors. Good actors hone their craft to mesmerize the whole crowd”
    She would be a Neohuman like Jakob and Possibly Childe too considering he’s capable of Foul Legacy.

    i've been waiting a long time for someone to make this! Thank you for laying it out! Especially since it's heavily implied that the world-formula is something they saw AFTER the Khaenri'ah cataclysm happened. The Prayers of Illumination set also explicitly mentions the "cycles" that Rene likely saw in the world-formula.
    Also, another interesting note during the Elynas section: there seems to be a progression of Rhine's creations in their interactions with humanity. From Rifthounds, who are actively hostile and seem to want to conquer (or be playful puppies?), the dragons Durin and Elynas who want to make friends and show off their wonder (but in actuality are toxic to the creatures and environment of Teyvat), to the Susbedo who was jealous of his brother's integration into human society and tried to replace him...
    To Albedo. The greatest of Rhine's creations who had successfully become "human" and accepted by humanity. With the same power his master has (the Art of Khemia).
    And now he's an uncle to a race of mermaids too.
    Overall, great video! The only thing I'm unsure though is the timeline about the Hydro Archon knowing the prophecy after Jakob and Rene's experiments, since the previous Hydro Archon would have died to become the Amrita Pool during the Cataclysm, whereas it's implied they discovered the world-formula after said Cataclysm happened. So perhaps the Hydro Archon still has her consciousness afterwards in another form aside from the Amrita Pool that caught wind of their plot, she foresaw their actions in the future, or the prophecy is much, much older than either of them. (Or maybe there is another option, I dunno.)

      thank you! and good point about rhine's creations! I'm still thinking about the friendly rifthound. There's so much that got left on the cutting floor for this vid unfortunately.
      and you're also right about the timeline - I was debating going over that and how it may/may not work, but tbh it just got way too convoluted with all the unknowns. Like the timeline issue DOES bother me, but i think the whole "how many apocalyptic prophecies can we juggle!?" drives me even more insane haha.

    • @corinnetheanime
      @corinnetheanime Год назад +7

      @@roozeveltfox yep, it drives me insane too. XDD That's why i think what they saw was the apocalypse that would happen after the fontaine prophecy that we are going through, meaning it could be something we will face in endgame. Meaning the prophecy itself is just the prelude for whatever is to come that will create the world where flowers won't grow (and apparently the end of all civilizations where no new ones will form). That's my theory for the timeline.

    • @TheCheeseman1983
      @TheCheeseman1983 Год назад

      Crack theory: we don’t actually manage to prevent the coming apocalypse, but it turns out the cause of the end is whatever the Fatui are doing. I see them launching an assault on the Heavenly Principles, but after defeating them, it turns out Celestia was the only thing preventing an all-out incursion by the Abyss. Then we end up having to do some time-loop shenanigans, courtesy of Istaroth, which sends us back in time to Khaenri’ah, right before the cataclysm, to take over the role of our sibling in the original timeline.
      In fact, it would be cool if this loop had already played out several times, which is why our sibling seems to assume we’ll side with them once we have “reached the end of our journey”.

    So when you enter the book.... and look behind you there's a screen stopping you jumping into a deep hollow. That hollow is on inspection the upside down fountain from the Dainself Chasm quest. Now does this suggest that the fountain's water is real something special like primordial sea water? That might account for it's weird magical power to somewhat combat the Curse. And if that is true then can primordial water undo the Curse in large enough amounts and is it in some sense opposed to the Curse?

What if other part of her also got separated during that violent episode, the Marry part so to speak. This part would also suffer from memory losses (like Ann), but maybe the drive to protect Fontaine would still be there. She would go on to become a Fatui Harbinger out of necessity to find a way to protect her homeland. Arlecchino is stated to have very little loyalty to the Tsaritsa and she empathize with Rosalynd because both of their homeland face devastation by abyssal monster with a lack of involvement (intentional or otherwise) from their own archons.

    Since I understood precisely none of those questlines, I must thank you for the summary and theories. But I wonder if the Ingold siblings really have ties to the Archon Quest... After all, it would be the first time a world quest provides useful information for the main storyline, and it's hard to imagine how Hoyo would handle that

  • @megamcee
    @megamcee Год назад +3

    Imagine if Arlecchino is Mary-Ann... She didn't die in the fight within Elynas and instead got sent to the Abyss. She went insane there and when she came back she got picked up by the Harbingers. She still remembered her orphanage as a nice way to lead children to better futures, so she started her own (she was also "the big sister" to other boys in her childhood, so she obviously has motherly instincts).
    This would also tie back to her strong belief in the prophecy, because she would've experienced all the research Rene/Jakob/Alain did, so she would know the world-formula stuff as well.
    I also think there's a chance that she was half-khaenriahn and has the hands of a hilichurl. Both Childe and Scara also say that she's completely crazy, and that's what hilichurls become if they see their own face. Her eyes might hint at a different/limited vision, which is why she's not completely insane.
    Does seem like a completely crazy theory, but who knows.

    The reveals about Abyss from the Fontaine world quests made me thinking: Since Abyss creatures seem to have a different world veiw where they see themselves as being good amd wanting peace, couldn't the same be saod about creatures and powers related to Celestial(Light) origin? The Abyss will see itself as good and fight Celestia, Celestia will see themselves as good and fight the Abyss, both claiming to be true power but in actuality being splits of a greater, original primodrial power. What if just like all creatures previously being united in the Primordial Sea before splitting into different creatures, Abyss and Celestial/Light power comes from something like the Omni element.
    That would potentially explain why Abyss is currently seen as evil and destroying the world, because Celestia enforces it's view upon the world itself via it's rules, but perhaps if those were to disappear, we could see the world from neither the Abyss' or Celestial point of view, but the original state of the world.
    This could also explain why the Traveller's power is so feared, because of he has the Omni element, he might be able to act against both Abyss and Celestia alike, while on top of that possibly being the "outside factor" that is required to change the outcome of the destruction of the world as predicted by the world formula and Rene.
    One thing I also find interesting is the new book about the fall of Remuria, the golden kingdom that existed on the land of Fontaine long ago, was founded by the God King Remus who arrived there on his golden ship which just so happens to be called Fortuna

    12:53 we do know of this, as he mentioned that their was already disappearing cases before he came to Fontaine, so from what I gathered it was while he and his lover where looking into it they came across the remains of the primordial sea (it's not stated if that's all their is or just the bit that's in that one location) she disolved and he started to look for ways of undoing it and somewhere he might have gotten mixed up with Jakob or potentially he was used as a pawn to look into the primordial sea while Jakob tried to reawaken elyas to gain more strength? I'm just spitballing however.

    Yay, another Rooze video! :D
    I'm always so relieved when I iron out a breakdown and timeline of the new lore for myself and it aligns with your thoughts LOL. This stuff can be so confusing and vague to sort through, so it's nice to know I'm on the right path of understanding!
    I've been thinking a lot about the Mesuline being abyssal in nature, and particularly about how they view the world and what it means. The one describing the sun as black, Mamere's paintings, and Canotila seeing a beautiful garden where we saw a desolate ruin all strikes me as very similar to how Durin and Elynas thought they were being nice when in reality they were terrorizing people. When Canotila describes Traveler as a monster that could swallow the whole world, I believe this truly means Traveler will _save_ the world from humanity's perspective, but will dash to pieces the world/future abyssal entities view as beautiful. As such, I also assume Traveler is gonna end up being the outside variable that will prevent the world-formula's cataclysmic predictions.

    • @roozeveltfox

      aw ty! It's also a relief to have people come in and agree, and I'm also relieved I didn't mess it up hahaha.
      Traveller being the hero to humanity and a monster to the abyss also echoes the sentiments in Nymph's Dream and also the NK Adventure team quest - "so in Narcissus's story, I'm the villain?" - so I think the way you put it about the melusine/abyssal view is spot on!

    • @ajplayer221
      @ajplayer221 Год назад +3

      Also, I think it is interesting to point out that the Traveller IS, ad far a we know, the only one that can actually understand Mamere's paintings, this could maybe point out that the traveller has more conections to the abyss than previously thoght, or, if we go full crazy, that the abyss sibling somehow ended up making the abyss conected to their own power, and in turn, to us?

    9:40, so i had a pleasure of deciphering the text on the beastly rift with some other people on lore reddit like 2 month ago when it got leaked, and after checking in game after 4.0, it seems to have stayed the same. So, in case somebody interested in trying to interpret it in the lore, here are the things from the post:
    Outer layer top clockwise
    Mentorum Luxseeff Undatinm Entesdei ExcuLmin ELucisin Magnoele
    Translating via google each word seprately in the same order gives
    Mentors, Luxseeff?, Unwavering, I was angry, Exalted, Elucidate, Magnoele?
    Inner layer top-right clockwise
    Messor Phaos Pater Corax Lympha MiLes Leaena (thanks u/Spieds)
    Reaper, Chaos, Father, Courage, Lymph, Miles, Lioness
    Other definintions for each word include:
    Messor)Harvester
    Pater)head/ chief
    Corax)raven/ battering-ram
    Lympha)Water/Aqua/water-nymph
    Miles)Soldier/Knight/Soldiery/combatant
    Leaena)Leo
    The inner circle is connected to Mitharaism, this seems to be the Degrees of Initiation, considering they are even in the correct order:
    1st - Corax;
    2nd - Nymphus (Lympha in this case, which is it's doublet);
    3rd - Miles;
    4th - Leo (Leaena in this case);
    5th - Perses (The rank's symbols are Hooked sword, Phrygian cap, sickle, crescent moon, stars, sling, pouch, which could be connected to translation of Messor: reaper, mower, harvester);
    6th -Heliodormus (Here Phaos, which is probably the Greek φάος, which has simialar symbolism, like torch, daylight etc.);
    7th - Pater.
    Inner most top-right clockwise
    Opera Rotas Sator Arepo Tenet
    Work, The Wheels, The tailor, Arepo, Holds
    This seems to be a refrence to Sator Square and the wiki includes ROTAS OPERA TENET AREPO SATOR which includes a box which includes sator arepo tenet opera rotas from top to bottom which then translates to 'The father holds the wheels of the AREP' via google. A more likely translation is 'The sower, with his plough, holds the wheels with care' or 'The sower Arepo leads the plough with his hand'
    In case somebody wants to check out all the comments/discussion on the post, even though we had no context of quests back then:

      Also, i wonder how much Remuria/golden troupe plays a role in the events of Narzissenkreuz and Fontaine, bc the gang was investigating (presumed by Rene) Golden Troupe's ruins, which is probably Remuria, bc both have references to God King, who in the book "The history of the decline and fall of Remuria" said to be Remus, who can be a reference to IRL Remus, brother of Romulus, both of whom established Rome, which i think fits for the inspiration of Fontaine region (That part of europe i think, might be wrong, my geography knowledge is shit). The institute also said to have been build over the ruins of old civilization from which it got it's name (written in rather aged records in close to the end of ann quest i think.
      The same books also mentions Fortuna and other interesting things, which suggest that Remuria was established after the fall of Gurabad, after Remus descended upon Meropis in his golden fortuna. Bc of that Fortress of Meropide could also be an interesting place, since Meropide is just French translation of Meropis.
      But yeah, i like how almost everything is actually connected to one story in fontaine, instead of having different stories for themselves.

    I meant to add this at the end of my other comment, Paimon being seen with a string connecting her to something “above the sky itself”(If she were from celestia they would’ve said “to the heavens itself”) SCREAMS imaginary construct to me and to add she was unaffected by the power of the abyss and was unaffected by the celestial nail too.
    Speaking of the Wanderer’s Troupe has connections to music which makes sense for they hail from Fontaine, and Remuria, the ancient city that existed before Fontaine, had music as its prime focus and used the power of song, the same way the Wanderers Troupe used it as theirs. Which reminded me of the Shell trio from HI3 Shell-Dolente, Shell-Furioso, Shell-Placido. And The Imaginary Weaver from HSR.

It would fit in the sense that she still runs an orphanage, seemingly wants to save Fontaine (through her own means) and joined up with Harbingers. I am thinking abt this while doing the world quest, I totally agree what Rene and Jakob do will create catastrophe.
    But what if the Fontaine people disolved into water is kind of a curse or bad side effect from it. Like eleazar suddenly infected the king deshret civilization due to forbidden knowledge and khaenriah people turn to hillicurl due to whatever khaenriah wanted to do 500 years ago. Both cases only affected people from the respected region and both event already happen before the Traveler arrived. Only Fontainian people that can be disolved to water as we seen in archon quest
    I am suspecting in Fontaine the traveler finally have the chance to directly face the catastrophe in the first place, I think whatever the outcome from this will drive the traveler story in teyvat. If it can turn bad as the prophecy said they maybe will understand what the twin do or if it has happy ending the traveler will built different opinion and probably in opposing side of the twin

    The idea that Arlecchino might be related to them makes me so excited! I know this is not very likely seeing as we know how the female characters of the orphan group ended, but I would really want her to somehow end up one of the original ones. The idea that Jakob and Rene have been carrying this dissolving mission for YEARS and she has become this dark and twisted version of her former self as she was looking for a way to stop them.... Maybe she could have been the one that died fighting Elynas. Absorbing the abysal blood somehow could have affected her and bring her back to life :D That would be a very cool twist! Especially considering that we have some info about these kids in their younger age so if we had the chance to look at her uncorrupted version... 🤯

    René appears to confirm a theory based on Enkanomiyan books that says Teyvat used to have cyclic time and now has progressive "historic" time. You can find the theory if you Google,
    ""Are not dragons and snakes kin?" -- revisited. Aberaku the heretic."
    That's about a year old. About 6 months ago I wrote a follow up:
    "Setekh Wenut description lends evidence to cyclic nature of Teyvat pre-history"
    Of course both observations provide a solution to the dichotomy of the cyclic nature of the Prayer Artifact Sets vs the clearly non-repeating nature of all the history we actually get told since the game began. This places the ancient civilization René references to just prior to the arrival of the second throne which is hypothesized (in the articles above) to be the cause of the shift from cyclic to non-cyclic time. aka as GoF would put it, breaking the shackles to the land.
    If this is correct then we can say that each descender appears to act as an "external" to René's World Formula. Each arrival kicks the Formula into another predicted future. Starting with the Primordial One, who creates the cyclic time, next the 2nd throne, who breaks that loop, and finally the Traveler who is supposed to fix stuff I guess. That leaves the third descender with nothing to do. But if René is correct and each descender ("external") changes the results like a butterfly effect, then they must have done something to make the Fatui think of them as a descender. Of course the Fatui might be wrong and in fact the Sibling is in fact the 3rd descender, but at least there's someone else the Fatui think are the 3rd descender, who presumably triggered the Cataclysm, which is the 4th outstanding weird event in Teyvat (and is tied in with the prophecies of both the GoF and Sal Vindagnyr's princess who both live after the 2nd throne event and get flash forwards of the Cataclysm). Who might the Fatui blame for the Cataclysm if not the Sibling? Rhinedottir? King Irmin? but they'd need to be an alien being.

    Literally spent all night shoving my face into lore trying to plot out the timeline out the Fontaine civilisations because I was getting very confused about when Remuria and the Navy took place. I fell DEEP down the rabbit hole of these four.
    Something interesting I found is that I *believe* Karl, Basil, Emanuel and someone called Dwight (possibly Carter? He repeatedly says how hes older than Rene/Jakob/Alain/Mary-Ann and in his notes he says "After the disaster I lost contact with pretty much all my friends. I'm so happy that they were able to find each other again.". Dwight is mentioned in one of the Marechaussee Hunter pieces) were the previous 'generation' from the Narzissenkreuz Institute.
    Also an important thing to note is that Coppelius was also likely a graduate of the Institute since the 'Ancient Notes' in the locked office in the I.N.P. says "Ever since he was a child, he's always been incredibly talented...". I can only imagine that this scrap of paper was written by the Director, since Basil was the Vice and her death is recorded in this note.
    I'm still scratching my head over why there's is NO mention of the first Hydro Archon in these notes, since the older generation would have lived through her death at Tunigi Hollow and there ought to have been a pretty big upheaval with all the grieving and Focalors' new management style, especially since it was big enough to drive all the Oceanids away. Unless we have an Ei/Makoto situation and they looked the same, so people just assumed she had changed a bit upon return? They're all so vague just calling it 'the disaster'.

    My personal speculation, based on things from Esoteric Revelation and the things we have seen in the Archon quests…
    (1) I suspect Fontanians are not actually humans…given that only Fontanians are affected by Priomordial waters, and what with Rene/Jakob somehow saying they are different from other humans, it is feasible that modern Fontanians are actually Eidolons/Oceanids who abandoned aquatic form to take on a permanent human form. Recall how, the first time the Traveler talks to the “revenge” Oceanid, she says it feels like returning home…
    (1.5) Incidentally, this puts the Oratriz in a new light. Water in Fontaine is implied to be able to carry consciousness, and then you factor in the above speculation. It is possible every time a judgement is passed, there is some sort of gestalt psychic connection between Fontainians and the water flowing through the Oratriz. This psychic like connection is what allows the Oratriz to function. So…what would happen…if the Oratriz is sabotaged, by introducing Primordial Waters into the Oratriz instead…
    (2) Notice how in the ??? Abyss/void location, aside from linking to the Chasm, also has a “library” room similar to the one you encounter in Enkanomiya (that you go through via a mirror, no less!). Granted, it could just be a reused asset, but the layout feels a bit too similar to be a coincidence. Maybe Rene and co have actually been to Enkanomiya…somehow, if you interpret the “???” Location As Rene’s memories.
    (2.5) Whilst there doesn’t seem to be anything new added for now, both the Chasm chamber and Enkanomiya are possibly worth revisiting in the future if (somehow) new clues are planted there.
    (3) It is strongly suggested that in spite of Gold’s connection to the Rift Hounds, the Kh’aenriahns actually do not know about the Rift Hounds in depth, in their own writings…
    (4) The jam “joke” gets slightly darker when, in “Rene’s notes” you pick up at Sumeru keeps mentioning jam…
    (5) I need to find more notes in Sumeru…presumably, there should be one piece of work somewhere that includes the study of the specimen Rene sent off to Sumeru for studying…

    Neohumans - Vision Holders? Jakob was probably Ousia alligned and that's why the blood worked for him. And since Pneuma and Ousia are ever present, maybe that will be the new mechanic instead of presumed Light/Abyss element. Since the Traveler is Pneuma alligned, our sibiling is Ousia, Dain too.

    If Emmanuel Guillotin didn't slaughter Poisson because he was out to make a name for himself, none of this would have happened. If Alain and Mary-ann weren't given to Guillotin, the 4 foster siblings wouldn't have become enemies. Therefore, the biggest villain in Fontaine history should be Emmanuel Guililotin.
    .. He did get what he deserved in the end though, being dissolved and absorbed by Rene. I guess that's a way to avenge your family's murderer lol.

    the idea of fontaine dissolving into one body of water is reminding me of the golden slumber and alhaithams story quest. it seems like it’s an abyss order thing, although i think i remeber jakob specifically saying he wasn’t with the abyss order, so the prophecy of fontaine is probably a lot larger scale than it seemed at first. i really hope the abyss order makes a bigger return in the archon quests, given their presence has only been in mondstat as of now

    How/why was Childe implicated by the Oratrice in the dissolving plot? Did it sense his abyssal powers, now that he didn't have a Vision with him and even tried using them to provoke Chlorinde into a duel with him. Did it see the whole of Rene's ascension/dissolving plot being led by Abyss itself (which has a will, in comparison to Khvarena, ley lines and pure elemental energy of the light world), and identified Childe as one of its agents?

      @roozeveltfox  Год назад +8

      a running list of wildly different ideas with varying degrees of believability:
      1) his bad mood/vision not working seems connected to the "it" within him so the oratrice's decision could also be abyss related - maybe the will of the oratrice sensed the will of the abyss?
      2) neuvi said that he clearly had no direct connection to the case, but i wonder if there's some weird indirect connection via the harbingers also investigating/using primo waters, or even an arlecchino connection to NK. this one is like way too speculative and also id imagine that lyney would have also been found guilty
      3) some sort of sabotage, e.g. lyney did look for the core of the oratrice, or maybe he could have been unknowingly drugged with sinthe
      4) the oratrice uses the star rail wish animation therefore the oratrice's judgement is a 50/50 and neuvi has just had incredible streamer luck until now guessing the same as the oratrice lmaaao

      I'm gonna throw out a pet theory of mine as to why he was judged guilty: Northland Bank loaned the Confrerie of Cabriere money (that's what all the hubbub was outside the blacksmith) which in turn funded Vacher and his evil deeds. I suspect any Fatui who got put on trial would have been found guilty in this case by association. I also suspect Arlecchino planned for it to be pinned on Childe to get him out of her way, since they're especially hostile towards each other.

    • @drachenhexer
      @drachenhexer 11 месяцев назад

      When we met Childe in the first Archon Quest, it was because the Confrerie of Cabriere was owing money to the Fatui so they don't have no connections .
