- Woodturning - Twigs and Resin - the Birds Nest Bowl!
So I decided to try something different. I Knew that the twigs would float toward the rim of the bowl and leave the rest as just resin which was the effect I was after.
You will see in the video I am careful to snap and pick out twigs that are curved to better suit the curve of the bowl.
Unfortunately I had a problem with the camera when I filmed removing the blank from the bowl mold. Sorry I couldn't show you that. Suffice to say - it didn't remove easily!
I wanted to try a different color to the usual and thought the green tint might be a bit more like a bird's nest.
The only real problem? I think I should have used more twigs around the rim.
What do you think?
Should I do another and see if I can improve on it?

Great idea 👍👍
Thank you very much Larry. As I commented - next time more twigs I think 😁
Lovely bowl Mark and some great idea for lowering in the large mould into the pressure pot

Cheers Aston 👍
Mate thats awesome.
Thanks David. I wasn't sure about the colour but it's grown on me.
@@makermark1 Thats the joys of having a go at it.
@@davidcrandell1172 that's true. If you don't try, you don't know 😁
Hey Mark, new subscriber here, great piece! Love the sticks, love the green! Thanks for sharing 😁
Thanks tf. I appreciate that. I have been doing a lot of blues and browns so thought I should try a different colour 😁👍
Very cool. At what speed are you turning?
Thank you. Depends on which stage I am at. Early on it's around 600-800 rpm. Finishing and polishing it's right up there.
