Absolutely ADORE this cartoon/animated movie. The songs sung made it so....REAL. Although I like both versions (and the both combined), I'd have to go with "Faithful". Oh, I had quite the crush on the prince when I was a little girl, but I felt for the princess and although envious, was happy that at least she had known that with whom her heart & mind dwelled had been given back to her in equal measure.

And I always thought there was a lot more going on between the two kings than just two monarchs whose kids loved each other... I didn't even know what being gay was at that age. I just thought they had more chemistry than their kids did!

Knowing his work for Fleischer Studios, it is highly unlikely that he directed this sequence since the staging and animation is inferior to the work he is recognized for. Bowsky was considered Fleischer Studios' Number One Animator, followed by Seymour Kneitel, and then Dave Tendlar. Bowsky was not the Director of this song sequence.
I absolutely love this song but I wish the visuals were more focused on the prince and the princess. Maybe showing a brief flashback of how and when they first met and how they got to know each other would’ve been way more suitable and effective than showing the king crying over his stupid decision😕.
