    Matt nice shop space and you did great utilizing the unusual but fantastic space you have.
    An idea for you to think about; what about moving the tablesaw to the rear shop with the rest of the milling space. You can also make a smaller miterstand in the rear and move all the wood storage to the front. Then you can move all of the finishing machines, like sanding and drilling to the front. Then you will have tons of room for horizontal space. You should be able to fit an ultimate assembly table, traditional table and maybe even a dedicated sanding station.
    Regardless your shop looks great.
    Appreciate the tour!

    Little weird that the dust collector got put way back there instead of centralized in closer reach to the table saw in the front. I’m sure it’s how you want it and works. Out of the way and least useable for a big tool. Cuts down on noise a bit putting it back there. Maybe even splitting the difference and moving it halfway up would add efficiency if it mattered. Betting you use a dolly or cart to wheel the drum out when it’s full. Either way that’s easy with the smooth floor. Pros and cons as always.
    Beautiful shop. Wondering too if you’ve considered covering the block walls, which I’m jealous of, with paint or sheets of something? Might brighten it up but it’s really nice having so much wall space.

    • @MWAWoodworks
      @MWAWoodworks  3 года назад +1

      I put it there on purpose. It's underneath my pantry where the noise of the motor won't annoy anyone. If I located it in the center of the shop it would be right under a bedroom 👍. This is one reason I bought this powerful machine, so it would have no issues with this distance.

    Congratulations on reaching 50K subscribers my friend, that's not an easy task but your worth that plus millions more mainly for your simplistic way of explaining without trying to sell us on everything. I'd like to see something for us new woodworkers to make using cheaper lumber say like fencing boards at 1x8's I think they are or 1x6's? I just don't remember off hand without looking but something of that nature so we can get into something we'd love to do say as yourself. That way we could work up such as you've done. Something to ponder on for videos if you ever get a chance that is?

    Hi I'm from Norfolk UK , I love all these woodworking videos , Have you thought about designing a kitchen for a disable/elderly person so all the shelves are pull out and the wall units have shelves what lower down for easy reach . I am disable and to buy fitments to do all these things is very costly more then what a new kitchen would cost . Its just an idea but there would be a market out there if you did . As soon as the "disable" word comes into play the price goes through the roof . Plus as people get older they need things to aid with back pain bad knees etc and It makes life so easy well like I said its just an idea

    Awesome video. Thank you for sharing. Question regarding your jointer set up. Noticed it’s first off the trunk line, but do you have any issue with chip clogging but to the dust port being kind of opposite direction of the suction?

    Every woodworker works in their own way; so,E times fashioned by necessity and sometimes by habit. So, an essential item for me may be a peripheral item for you. A few things that suit me.
    I have a large shop made solid ash workbench (2.2m x 0.8m with a 100mm top) that is one of the 2 centres of my shop. The other centre is the table saw. Age means that I can no longer lift and carry large slabs or sheets (don’t laugh - you will get to my state soon enough). I was able to buy a used mains-electric static lift table. Capacity way beyond my needs but it’s built like a warship. I made a torsion box with HD castors and so the table is now mobile. I will probably adapt my MFT to go on top of that; I don’t use the top as a sacrificial top and it’s lasted 10 years and still has life.
    I have a much larger wood rack. Mine is 6’ wide; 7’10” deep and goes to the ceiling. In that, there are racks for full sheets of MRMDF and ply; racks for part sheets; racks for big slabs upto 9’ x 30” wide. Why so big? Well, to get the best prices, I’ve always found it good to buy in bulk; so, I will order a pallet of MRDF in a combination of 6mm, 12mm, 18mm thicknesses. Same with rough sawn timber.
    My most useful shop made table saw jigs are a) cross cut sled b) multi angle taper/rip cut sled c) front extensions of the table saw T tracks which allow me greater depth of cut for sheet goods (previously I could cut 10” depth before the saw blade interfered; now it’s 24”)
    My OCD is dusty tools. I accept that some dust is inevitable in a wood shop but I’ve spent a lot of money on tools and I don’t like seeing them dusty and having to clean them before use. So, I was able to buy quite a few office storage cabinets from a form going bust. I’ve got 2 that are tall, wide with tambour doors; in one, I have fitted drawers upto about 5’, then shelves; in the other, I have fitted “vertical drawers”, rather like those pull out pantries but mine has only a vertical piece.on those I have put my boxes of chisels with French cleats so that I take a whole box to the workbench; plus lot of designed holders for rulers, hammers, squares, screwdrivers etc. Its very pleasing how much this system can take - and you just pull the doors shut to keep out dust. With the tall cabinets came lots of desk pedestals; these I have adapted to take all my Festool systainers, made 3 into a storage unit on which my lathe sits, made another 3 into a table for my sharpening tools with all the jigs etc in the drawers underneath.
    I’ve also made mobile storage that goes under the drill press (drill bits, forstner bits etc.) scroll saw (blades and tools) table saw (blades and tools). Each one of these has a lot of drawer storage still available.
    So, I’ve spent a lot of time making organisation, tidiness and cleanliness possible. So why does my workshop still look a mess compared to the pristine ones shown on YT?

    • @MWAWoodworks
      @MWAWoodworks  2 года назад

      Sawdust really doesn't show up well in camera. So shops always look cleaner than they really are

    • @theofarmmanager267
      @theofarmmanager267 2 года назад

      @@MWAWoodworks thank you for that reassuring video. I usually spend about 6 hours a day in the workshop. Not been too well and only managed an hour. One thing that long, hard, bitter experience has taught me is not to do anything in the shop if you are tired or not feeling the best.

    Hey Matt! Great shop! Question: Looking to purchase my first planer and jointer this year. Looked up the Grizzly models you have & really liked specs on both but they are both discontinued! Can you recommend a brand and model for each that are similar to yours or a newer Grizzly model? I'm a mid-level wood worker looking to up my skill level and tool precision. I currently do general carpentry and art. Hoping to make my own kitchen cabinets, some furniture and expand my art work to include inlay and marquetry. Thanks in advance and love your videos!

Can you recommend a similar Grizzly model or is there one from another manufacturer that you like. Would be using for making home cabinets, general woodwork, furniture and art projects.
