    Regarding your dust collector, not sure if you have fixed this so far, but my smaller Laguna dust collector has a metal cage that sits with the plastic bag. This metal cage helps keep the bag "open" so its not sucked in by the collector.

    Your shop is the prefect example of how you don't need to have a "big" shop in order to fit some decent machines in it. I'm impressed with how you've been able to fit them in. 👍 You have some impressive tools. 🔥

      Felt like a good session of Tetris 😂 I do feel the limitation of that many machines in a smaller room. But I wouldn't want to give up any of these machines... Thanks man!

    Hey, you could build some Kind of Skeleton for the dust bag so it stays in place. Maybe some metal Stripes with a circle on the bottom or some Kind of basket that keeps the bag in place.

      Hey Robert,
      sound like a pretty good idea to me. Thank you!
      Right now I continue to carry that bin upstairs and empty it out into a huge bag, which I can put into a trailer easily.
      But I will try to change that soon. Thanks again.

      @@BauWoodworks maybe you could also put in a cylindric piece of plastic with rounded corners that dont rip the bag. Then you could take it all out and just pull out the piece and attach it right to the New bag. Thanks a lot for the Video! I am Also building a Workshop in my garage at the moment that has almost the same measurements as your workshop. My k3 is coming in february. I might come up with some questions as I have very similar machines and space requirements. Greetings from Berlin

    Hi i have the same dust collector. I also had problems with the plastic bag. When dust collected on top of the bad......further dust would go to the hepa filter. With mine it was a design fault. The short suction tube was not connected to the bin. I removed the tube and do not use the plastic bags. It is more efficient now. I would suggest you empty the bin into the plastic bag with a small shovel and take the bag upstairs. Then check your hepa filter...it may have more dust in there than you thought. Good video. Cheers peter from Melbourne Australia

    • @BauWoodworks
      @BauWoodworks  3 года назад

      Hi Peter,
      thanks for your feedback.
      That sounds exactly like the problems I had.
      Emptying the bin inside, even with a shovel, makes such a dust cloud that I prefer to carry the bin upstairs and empty it outside.
      I also got the tip to seal the bin with silicone as this would help to create the vacuum... I will try that and hope it resolves my problem.
      Cheers to Australia from Germany

    I have my great-grandfathers workbench and it has the rectangular stops made of steel with it. I am lucky that I still have the original bench dogs, but if you want some for your bench, you can still find them on.

    • @BauWoodworks
      @BauWoodworks  3 года назад

      Oh that is a fantastic heirloom piece! Warms my heart to hear that!
      And also pretty nice that the original dogs are still with it.
      I've tried to get the square dogs for my bench online and had no luck yet. The manufacturer of the bench has used a different size for them for just a few years/months. And hence it is difficult to get the dogs for this particular bench. There are no new ones available in that size and I had no luck finding used ones.
      But it should be pretty easy to make some out of wood. I really should do that, I keep telling myself for almost 3 years now 😅

      @@BauWoodworks we have a few of these benches in the workshop, most of the stops are made of wood. they work well. The thing you're missing is a hold-fast, they work with round holes. But if you like those, it's called a WORKbench, so make it WORK for you.

    Vielleicht eine Idee mit Potential für die Säcke der Spanabsaugung. Ggfs könntest du eine Leiste oder ein paar einzelne "Clipper" an die Spänesäcke befestigen. Daran Magneten anbringen welche den Sack am Boden der Tonne halten.

    I enjoyed your tour. I'm not sure if by now you got your dust collector bag issue sorted out yet, but there should be a negative pressure tube that connects to the drum which should prevent a bag from being sucked up into the cyclone. Laguna Tools has a video on setup which shows its installation.

    Love your shop. I also have a K3 winner. Did you ever measure the flatness of your cast iron. i am having 12 thousands of an inch (0.3048mm) of a dip near the blade. I imagine this is because of the weight of the motor, but I wanted to see what others have.

  • @binettea
    @binettea Год назад

    Very good use of the space, good video, thanks! Regarding your Laguna dust collector, I have the C-Flux, and mine has a metal perforated barrel to install over the plastic bag in the drum, which keeps the bag down. It doesn't have a tube. I'm in Canada, so it might something different from the models sold in Europe?

    Thanks for the interesting tour and the inspirations. I’m building my shop also in my basement and the big machines are not there yet 😅. I’d like to know your thoughts about the floor. I see that you work directly on the screed floor. Would you lay a floor from today’s perspective and if yes, which type of floor would it be?

    • @BauWoodworks
      @BauWoodworks  2 года назад +1

      Sounds great! Yeah I am working on the naked concrete floor and in hindsight I would change it. It's cold and not exactly easy on the feet and back. Oh and it is ugly 😅
      I would probably go for OSB or some other kind of wooden flooring. I don't like the idea of the rubber mats in front of the bench and other areas because all my machines are on wheels and rolling over the mats would be a pain.
      I also think wooden flooring in a woodworking shops looks nice, gives warmth and is easier on the feet and back!
      Hope this helps

    Q: your Bosch sanders have a dust port, which one do you use to connect to the 2 1/2" or to the Festool?

    Thank you for the excellent tour of your shop. Send me the information of your products you sell in your store. You have made great use of the space you have available. I noticed that this post was over one year ago and maybe you have added new stands and other items.
    I am from Decatur, Alabama and have enjoyed woodworking for over sixty years and have purchased a lot of Festool items. Several years ago, I had my own millwork business for 12 years. Have built a lot of furniture for my family over the years. Always looking for interesting items to build. Lately have been turning wooden bowls, pens, and decoy calls. I give away a lot of the items to family and church members. Reply if you are able. Thank you.

    I'm curious how they got the table saw and jointer down your stairs. how wide is your door?

    • @BauWoodworks
      @BauWoodworks  2 года назад

      Well, that was scary. The door is 2 cm wider than the table saw cabinet (I took the complete sliding table off and the extension table). For the table saw they had a motored hand truck and they carried down the jointer (i took off the cast iron tables) simply with some straps. Sure a crazy day...
