Excellent tutorial. Just curious....do you ever break the guide rod/spring assembly down in order to clean those parts?

Be patient with this design. When field stripping a Kimber Raptopr 2 for the first time do not get frustrated if the slide stabilizer, spring plug, and lower barrel bushing fail to release spring tension allowing for removal of the stabilizer then barrel. There is not a traditional barrel bushing to remove with a paddle tool. Complete the stripping process several times, using the supplied breakdown tool, until the barrel bushing, slide stabilizer and plug easily remove. After the first successful removal high tolerance parts have slightly loosened. This is no different than breaking in the gun by firing a suggested 500 shells. It seems infuriating the lower slide stabilizer and variant barrel bushing do not immediately release when following all steps properly. Do not get in a rush out of frustration. I was cursing the design until all disassembled properly after some dozed attempts, especially after 40 years maintaining and firing the classic 1911. Breakdown tool is nothing special; it is an allen wrench of high quality. Do not use a paperclip or other improvised breakdown tool.

Just shave down the Guide 1/4 inch and now NO PIN COOL LOOK and it doesn't effect the shooting process and no kinks of the spring

You failed to oil the gun after cleaning!

Hi Ron, sorry just seeing this…i use CLP. No need for additional lubricant. Clean - LUBRICATE - Protect!

Jesus H Christ...They all take down the same within reason. If you need a video you probably shouldn't have a gun.
