  • Today I decided to sell the nearly new ARB bumper, the Badlands Apex 12k winch with synthetic line, and the WARN lights. They looked great on the 1997 Land Cruiser build, but I don't plan on keeping a winch on there, and wanted something not as bulky on for the bumper.
What do you think I should do for a front bumper once it is time to get a new one on there? OEM Toyota? MetalTech? DVS Delta Bumper? Dissent bumper? 4x4Labs? Slee? Or maybe custom? Curious to hear your suggestions and thoughts.

Smart to drop all that weight up front. Less is more!

I totally agree. Hate to see all the land cruisers with useless roof racks, bumpers, and accessories. If it’s used for a purpose I get it. But if it’s just for show I personally find it to take away from the 80 series’ design and intended simplicity.

Like the new addition, you just set foot on the solar path, do not have a Tesla just the stock at this point. Glad to see you are keeping the Austin economy going with your additions to the garage. You are going to need to build a carport next. This used car market is amazing with how the prices have been maintained on some of the mature LC/LX models. Looking forward to your next episodes, now that the house has been updated. Stay safe Mark in DFW

Saw your ARB bumper for sale on Facebook. Wish I could’ve bought it, dang it.

It was a great deal and in great condition. Had 15+ people in line. The new owner already got it on his 80 the same day he took it home. Always good getting to meet other cruiser enthusiasts

Part of me likes using a brand new Haltec harness vs re-using a 20+ year old OEM harness that's crispy in places. I'm planning on swapping a new OEM harness into my turbo'ed 80 this summer. Since you're going with a Haltec 2500, I'm curious what kind of work is needed to mate their harness to the 1FZ-FE. Do they make custom harnesses or is it up to the buyer to customize their generic harness to connect to your sensors? If it's latter, then it's a craptastic amount of work.

I haven't looked too much into it yet. But even with a universal harness its not all that bad. These 1FZFE's are very simple to wire up, there is not a whole lot to them. My main concern going one way or the other would be functionality of the OEM front/rear lockers, and transmission control. Need to do some more research on the topic before I get to that point. Would love to hear any feedback, opinions, or thoughts from you and others on the topic too.

Why not a brand new oem Harness? Unless you mentioned that as an option while my A.D.D. was active.

That's a great option too! Do they still sell the new OEM harness?

That's not bad at all. I just found it on McGeorge toyota as well. Listed for $544. That may be a better option than going custom or haltech.
