I live in Newport News. I plan to go up to Ny. Is it better to depart from norfolk, Newport News or Williamsburg Amtrak station? What if I want better seat selections??
My mom lives in Portsmouth VA i wish i could connect with the Norfolk train from Charlotte NC i get off at Richmond-Staple Mills rd to connect to the Newport News train then bus to Norfolk going there but can take the Norfolk train to Richmond then Charlotte coming back
If you're doing this trip both ways then I'd personally sit on the left side both ways, as you'll not only see all the scenery on both sides of the route but also any passing trains as well.

Taking that same route, currently in Alexandra stop right now. Amtrak is always a relaxing ride.
Question trying to go for dc to Virginia beach there is one transfer you get off and than take a bus the rest of the way?

Whenever I ride Amtrak from Richmond to DC, I always get the 94 to DC and the 80 Carolinian back to Richmond
I have taken this trip many times also from Newport News to Washington ,though going through Richmond is very slow!!!!
