I did not know Back Bay had Amtrak trains. I do all my commuting to and from Boston via South Station as I live in Massachusetts and I'm roughly 40 miles south of Boston. I have actually never been to the Back Bay Station.
Crowned Lily yeah Acela Express, northeast regional and lake shore limited go through there ,but south station is better because the air quality in back bay is terrible .this is because most of the commuter rail/Amtrak platforms are mostly underground and there is no proper ventilation system ,so diesel fumes cannot easily escape so it gets really smoggy in there . There are outdoor parts of the platforms but most trains aren't long enough to stop out there so people are pretty much forced to wait in the smoggy underground parts of the platforms. The air quality is so bad people with lung conditions are advised to avoid the station,Amtrak also removed their ticket agents from the lobby because the air quality was so bad.also tracks 5 and 7 area is really disgusting with trash everywhere especially near the tunnel. So yeah if you ever have to go there may as well bring a gas mask or a respirator
I'm not opposed in general to modern architecture when it comes to stations, but Back Bay is such a dirty, unpleasant dump in just about every respect.
NER trains make more stops between DC and Boston then most western long distance trains that travel 6 times further. How did your arm not get tired from holding the camera for that long?

I'm a newbie on this run.. I've driven it a few times so this time i wanted to take the train. I wanted the Acela but they all left too late- wanted to get there around lunch time the Acela's all left at that time. I just looked at my ticket and it's the Boston "sou" which i think is the South station.. I think i needed the North station.. * The phone Agent advised me that a subway is available to get me where i need to go.
Infrastructure is the key. Sunny yard interlocking, a choke point with Long Island Commuter Railroad Trains, Pelham Bay Bridge where speeds are restricted; Metro North Commuter Railroad New Haven Line from the New York State-Connecticut Border to New Haven Union Station, again speeds are generally restricted to less than 70 M.P.H. due to many drawbridges in need of repairs; and Finally eastern Connecticut and Southwestern Rhode Island due to tight curves and 11 grade crossings in Southeastern Connecticut. Exception, between New Haven and New London track speeds are at 110 M.P.H. maximum in many places.
Don't forget that train 190 is an early morning train that goes against the rush hour fliw. Metro North uses three tracks in the direction of peak traffic, in this case three tracks towards new York and all east bound traffic on one track. So this train is behind all of the east bound trains making local stops. It is the busiest single train line in the country after all
