- There are a ton of trails around but many of them are long and steep and sometimes not that accessible. Lava Lake Trail in the Gallatin Valley between Bozeman and Big Sky, Montana is very doable. It's about 6 miles round trip and pretty steep but you start out next to the Gallatin River and end up at a gorgeous alpine lake encircled by mountains. In our case, we actually start at the lake and work our way down. It was an invigorating walk up but I wanted to spare you the huffing and puffing that went with it. This is a LONG one for me. about an hour and twenty three minutes, BUT, it's also a very pretty walk. I hope you enjoy it and thanks to all of you and especially our Patreon Supporters. -H

I needed to "get away," and this was a nice long walk. My legs are sore! Lol. Only 10 ads throughout it, which helped remind me I'm no longer in Montana but back East.😣 lol. 😉
Thanks so much, Henry!
Glad the ads were better. It's such a great hike for sure. -H

Hi Octavian. Thanks so much. -H
Thanks for the videos.
Just curious -
Out of all the cities you've been to, what are the top seven vibrant energetic, active and walking cities?
Excluding the big ones NY, Chicago, LA, Vegas etc.
More midsize, similar to savannah, Charleston, Eugene, Portland etc?
Thanks.
Wishing you much success with the channel.
Great question Vikram. I"m not sure I can come up with seven because we usually try to visit small towns but here's my best pass.
Zagreb, Croatia
Edinburgh, Scotland
Wilmington, NC
Omaha, NE
Kansas City
Bozeman, MT
Colorado Springs, CO
Love this! I hope to try this trail soon! Thanks for all you do. I just got back from Colter Bay and did some trails around there.
Hi. So glad you enjoyed it. Hope you had some good hikes. -H
Cool video and channel, new friends here, let's stay connected
Thanks and sure -H
I really enjoyed your video. The scenery and your photography were excellent. I did especially enjoy it when you stopped to “smell the roses“ along the way-different than the typical treadmill video!
I was, however, surprised when one of your fellow hikers revealed that you were hiking in sandals! As an old Boy Scout, I was very concerned about your safety after that. With all those sharp loose rocks, rotten logs, tree roots, and poison ivy, as well as critters who would love a bite out of you, protective and supportive footwear is always recommended. After all, it's not very nice to have to ask your fellow hikers to practice their "fireman's carry" to get you to the nearest first aid station or ambulance road!
But, enough of that, beautiful work otherwise!
HI Curt, thanks for your concern. If I were going far into the back country I would certainly take your advice, however, on an easy, busy, known trail like this, I feel perfectly comfortable hiking in these sandals. I don't feel the risk is particularly greater than with boots. Certainly a bit more due to the issues you mention but the risks are known and small, IMO. I'm glad you enjoyed the views and video and I do appreciate you taking the time to comment. All the best to you, keep on steppin' -H
