I don't think I've ever heard any drummer (especially metal) play a song PERFECTLY without mistake, and Dave played Postmortem flawlessly (with drum fills and everything). Fuck Paul Bostaph, DAVE FOR LIFE
A while back I heard a Slayer song that was recorded live (and without Dave), I think Angel of Death, and it sounded terrible - very muddy. I mentioned it to a former band mate of mine. All he said was "No Lombardo."
Just look at how tough that riff is to play! And Jeff and Kerry are standing side by side in total unison playing those changes and note for note matching each other. That's perfect! And they only got better as time went on! But Jeff wrote this song and you can tell which ones he wrote; most of the time. Both are excellent guitarists!!!
Jeff is and always will be a fucking legend for writing pretty much all the hits and much more. But not gonna lie Kerry has had some bangers, I believe he wrote Praise of Death (one of my favorites) plus he basically taught Hanneman. So even tho Jeff surpassed him no doubt in creativity and skill Kerry is still a legend in my book
So glad I got to see Slayer live 7 times in my life. All 7 times with Hanneman, and 4 with Lombardo too (fully loaded Slayer). Slayer never disappointed. I don't mind having missed shows with 50% Slayer. I'm sure they were still good shows, but I soured on Kerry after what he did to Lombardo.
I was there, agnostic front opened. This was right before Dave left the band. They played a few months later in NJ with scaglione from Whiplash on drums. I was there too !!🤘
slayer in their prime, i remember i bought reign in blood changed my life i have had south of heaven, decade of agression, divine intervention, undisputed attitude, and god hates us all, and christ illusion so yea i am a huge slayer fan and i heard this show was infamous
I had "Slayer" tattooed on my shoulder in 1986. It's still there and Slayer is still my favorite band...I've stayed with them all these years...I can't believe I love them the same today as I did over 35 years ago.
Tom: I take it you guys have already achieved death yeah? Crowd: Woo! Tom: I bet you didn't know there are many ways to achieve POSTMORTEM! Crowd: ??? *waits 5 seconds* OH! The song XD
That is the fucking shit man what a fucken back to back my favourite songs FUCKING SLAYYER FUCKEN RULES slayer FUCK YEH!!! THat guitar tone the fucken riffs the. Boys fucken SLAYER!!!
Na man, back then bouncers had pretty much free reign to pound your ass. No cameras or phones to record shit and save your ass or to sue. I'm pretty sure he was just fine.
What if the bouncer happened to like Slayer? People of color can enjoy metal too, you know. Especially considering two of the guys in Slayer are Latino.
Still the best! I remember that tour..86 The Channel Boston! Man, can I re-live those times again with the exception of losing my virginity to **** ***** from Chelsea. lol
Ha, ha that security guard in front of Tom at 3:22 is like: oooooo, what is this? OOOOooo its a free shirt goodie, finally sumone cares enough to give a security guard a shirt, waaaiiit just a minute. This shirt has sumones name on it. I dont want people calling me a sperm dumpster, guess ill just throw it away and sumbody more deserving will get it.
At this time,.. Slayer was the most powerful band in history of metal,..Period!!

You know I kind of went on a weird "I've not listened to slayer for a while" and ended up here. I actually forgot just how awesome slayer were.
same man
Well we can all agree we shouldn't stop now slayer until we are slayed
I just go back to dave lombardo slayer vids lol
Happened to me with Sabbath - sometimes you gotta forget to to appreciate what you love
Postmortem was the song that made me a Slayer fan. Just so freaking perfect...
Lombardo has to be the most tasteful drummer in metal. Amazing stuff.
I dont think this is even Lombardo playing lol
Not Dave. That's Tony Scaglione from Whiplash
Tasteful? He's a monster! None better.
I was fortunate enough to be at this show. I've been to tons of metal and hardcore shows and this is still the #1 show I have ever witnessed! 👍
How was the sound?
The recorded live shows of Slayer always have a very flat and dry sound - I highly doubt that the actual show sounded like that...
Who is the drummer? Is it Lombardo?
@@QuickLern818 Yes it's Dave
You're lucky. We don't get crowds like this anymore. Too many people recording on their phones.
Wish I was old enough to have been there! SLATANIC WERMACHT
sometimes i wish i could work out the complexities of bending time and space to attend shows like this one... a great moment in thrash history...
God I wish there was a way I could visit the 80's and/or 90's.
Puppy Monkey Baby Me too man...So hardcore !
3:28 Was that Dave Lombardo or a shotgun?!
Rim shot😂
Ronan A. Madden What do you think? 🤘
@@nathanielhelwig9220 he doesn't do rim shot but I get what you mean.

I was there
They were awesome til Jeff died .
That bassline in the second part of Postmortem has been hidden for years!
I love that you can hear the bass loud. It's like hearing these Reign In Blood songs with Hell Awaits production. Fucking awesome
thank you. around the 2:40 mark watching jeff and kerry king play that riff in unison. like a mirror image on the fret board.
sound is so cool
Lombardo here, is better than ever.

This is frickin amazing, they're so tight! Thrash till death!!!
@stylecat77 I was 18 back then, and yeah.. it was fucking awesome seeing them in the dead center of the thrash metal movement in the 80's :)
Just look at how tough that riff is to play! And Jeff and Kerry are standing side by side in total unison playing those changes and note for note matching each other. That's perfect! SLAYER IS BRUTAL.
LOve Slayer, but they hired like 6 bouncers to their shows, fags. See Crumbsuckers, Leeway, Excel, etc,

This show demonstrates the difference between San Francisco Bay Area thrash and anywhere else, especially LA.
