Thank you. A lot of videos show you how to change out an old fixture with a new one but they always pick one with problems with the wiring and the next thing you know he's rewiring the room. While that would be helpful if that were the case but just a simple switch out to 20 year old addition shouldn't take a 45 minute video. Thanks for painting the old, exposed paint. I would have been so focused on the light and the electricity that I would have got it all done and then cursed a blue streak for not painting the ceiling exposed by the new fixture.

They didn’t show the part where you have to have arms like a gorilla to hold that puppy with one hand while you attach it with the other while the blood drains out of the arms. Lots of fun.
Or try to find a helper with another ladder to hold it while you hang it.
Don’t forget the dust in your eyes because you can’t find your safety glasses or the dust magically finds its way around your glasses or the sweat rolls into your eyes. Finally, you will also drop your tools and/or hardware multiple times, meaning multiple trips up and down your ladder.
Meanwhile your always helpful wife is lovingly telling you everything you should be doing while standing there reminding you that the ceiling and walls need painting.
