Her path takes an unexpected turn when they stumble upon a mysterious broadcast that holds the key to their escape. To get the message, she must survive a planet-ending storm.

Amazing. My only gripe is June deciding to not go, like her reason is unbelievable to me, I don't think any mother would give up even a remote chance of being with their kid again.

@@somerandomguy9891 Also, Iris's last line in this episode 'That's good enough for me' is very similar to the inspirational words uttered by John Goodspeed (and subsequently Quinn) when Gary asked him, 'And what if my best isn't good enough?' Not to mention Iris stepping on that cookie when she entered the ship, the reference suddenly hit me as the credits started rolling.
I love that Bowie is pretty well timed comic relief fun and light hearted but knows when for the most part. I love him

Yeah, specially in stories like this, timing a good comic moment, without destroying the drama is specially hard to do! Kudos to the creators!
Man, the couple that lived their lives the best they could trying to find some sort of solace in their dying world really got me. You can see their life story just by looking at the house with how they lived. The world buried them in darkness and they put up walls of light and streamers to celebrate. And then they went out on their own terms after expressing their wish to never be forgotten. I just can't sing enough praises for this.
I think the fact that this pilot made me cry multiple times shows the potential this potential show has to absolutely wreck me. I don't have enough money to join a kickstarter right now but I really hope this show gets more. Even if it doesn't, I absolutely loved this pilot for the story it gave.

I won't pretend to know anything about budgets but this has some of the most phenomenal lighting of any animated sequence I've seen recently. The heart that went into this is very visible. Thank you Olan and crew.

the amount of people in the credits is insane, props to you, i'd support your project if i could, hope it gets the support it needs, you deserve it
yes I was wondering if producers and co producers is just a title to those who supported the project with money through kickstarter or patreon or something. I just cant figure out what else so many people would do in a production. This pilot is well done but it isnt like the highest of the high in production quality and it isnt a movie lenght either. So it has to be something else. I am very aware of how many people can be in a production but with this limited style of animation and voice actors/characters, it is hard to imagine that so many people worked on it unless i am unaware of a huge production pipeline that started out to pop up. No disrespect to this pilot. i like it a lot and hope to see more and wish everyone here a great succes. very well done

Right when I heard Avocato's and HUE's voice I bursted out crying. The animation, the story, voice acting EVERYTING held me in my seat and the emotion of I was witnessing did not let go. Olan, I need you to make some kind of monthly payment so I can sponsor these series every month with what I can. This needs to be a series

King Slayer at the end of this pilot episode is propably Avocato, the dad who speaks is Gary (btw the family name is Godspeed, hence look at the title)
however we don't know how Final Space Ended, only will know from the Novel that not came out yet, and neither if this is the same universum or somekind of paralel universum

i stumbled upon this at 3am and was mesmerized!!! This was incredible…. story telling, animation, audio, directing..everything about this was incredible
The entire intro had my heart shaking. The visual of the people going crazy and trying to leave the planet along with the audio of the screaming. It really put me through a shock.
The 2 found dead in their home not wanting to live in a world where death was guaranteed but also didn't want to be forgotten. Felt so relatable.
Final Space is amazing but was done dirty, I have a feeling this show will actually get to be completed the way Olan wants it to be.
In a weird way it makes you see Final Space in a new way too, like sure this isn't"actually" Final Space sequel, but by god seeing what happens to a world Invictus comes for really makes you despise him even more and just want the heroes to be able to fight back and finally put that monster down for good.

This is so creative. I love the scene with the mother and child outside the gate. Within the span of a minute you know everything that is going on. It seems that either the sun blew up or there was an attack that led to evacuation. And it makes sense for why everyone on the outside of the town would try to get in and its sad that its so bad that security is forced to have them step back throughe extermination. So while evrryone is frantically fighting or running, there are those who all they can do is hope. And sometimes, if you encounter the right people, hope is all you need.
How did I miss this when it was first released?!?! I’m so glad RUclips finally recommended it to me though. I love your work so much, keep pushing for the great things you have created and making more of them

After the unfortunate ending of Final Space, this Pilot has everything I've been missing. The characters, the drama, the music, it's all present and accounted for!
I am ecstatic to see this become a full show, see where it can go. Final Space surprised me a lot with the maturity you held towards the characters and themes, I'm excited to see what will become of Godspeed as the story unravels

It’s amazing how much you can care about a character in a span of 20 minutes.
I couldn't bring myself to watch it straight through. We've had the ethnically diverse female protagonist so shoved down our throats as of late, that I just kinda cringe now when I see it. Never saw Free Space, but I gotta wonder if the white male lead isn't what got it canceled.

I understand your hesitation, but she's a character, not a propaganda piece. I too am weary of all the agenda lately, and this wasn't that. The dialogue could be polished up just a tad, but it was a heckuva good watch from beginning to end.

Newly came across this channel, but man am i captivated... when she said to tell her son "Hello little sprout" i immediately teared up, bravo for making this wonderful and engaging story
"i don't want to be fogotten" honestly got me by the heart i had to pause it for 5 min and think. it's so cool to see this side be handled in a show when it comes down to appocalypse or doomed stories. When it's not only about survival and sudden death but survival and death with meaning, like the life was worth something and your story doesnt end here.
also the animation is superb, character designs are very cool and fun, voice acting!!! so much emotion

That is pretty much cliché at this point, story old as humanity. Idea created by early humans who had average life expectancy of 35years to live unless simple scratch would kill them early. What can you do in that 35 years specially if you are just simple peasant nobody, so you are remembered. In truth there is very little. Can you for instance even name your great grandparents or generations before that, with out them being some note worthy general or soldier, inventor or related to some famous person in general? Still if you are good parent couple generation down the line might remember you with love, that is pretty much best you can ask for, specially these days. You could go with infamy route but that probably wont be good idea since it will curse your family down the line. Only option aside that is become mad lad, but that takes character you most likely wont have, but what you can do is forge your own live to be what you desire, make things with your own hands and build for instance homestead for your children to live middle of nature, away from corruption of the cities and global world, being self sufficient as possible and make with your own sweat, blood and tears place for them to grow safe and learn the skills they will need.. specially if shit hits the fan. That might be the maddest of lads who can achieve it, since it aint easy, so i raise hat to you if you can manage that.

It resonates so much with Bisan who is surviving for 105 days now, she said "I don't want to be forgotten" while knowing the world had abandoned them to face the genocide in gaza, "They left us" in this Pilot tells it all, and it burns my heart...

HAS ANYONE SAID ANYTHING ABT THE BEGINNING WHERE IRIS AND JUNE STARE AT EACHOTHER IN THAT MOMENT?? Animation is potrating story through show not tell, AND THE EMOTION IN THAT SCENE, OMG I CAN'T EVEN EMPHASISE THAT ENOUGH WOW. I loved loved loved this whole pilot and can't wait to see more of it!
I couldn't help but cry at the "bunches and bunches" part. Damn I'm going to miss Final Space. So much. This is beautiful Olan, I hope we get to see more of Godspeed.
The only big criticisms I have is that some dramatic moments (i.e. giving the child the ticket) need to be a little snappier to match the mounting pressure of the situation and, completely my own opinion, limit dialogue a little more. Silence or ambience speaks very loudly on its own and further emphasizes dialogue when it DOES happen.
Edit: 14:08-15:32 is a MASSIVE collection of what i'm talking about, masterfully done, not dawdling by holding the viewer's hand, creatively using speech as a background element, and no repeating "sad eyes" that instruct the viewer on how to feel. Everything is just enough to add to the wow-factor instead of taking from it.

The artsyle and atnosphere is gorgeous. I hope nothing but to reach your skill level in writing and art direction. This is an enigma.
So many references to all the loss that Olan has gone through recently, yet also tied to his ongoing hope and perseverance. The ending gave me goosebumps -- I'm so excited for this project!

Holy I am gripped. I am in awe this is just so beautifully animated and well written. This should be in streaming services and deserves WAY more credit.
Honestly, I didn't expect this to have the connections to past characters it alludes to. It felt like its own story, compelling and intriguing all on its own. The best way of doing a spiritual successor, IMO. The core stands up on its own without the nostalgic elements, and the nostalgic elements only heighten the core story, rather than overpower it :)
As someone who just stumbled into this with no context it is definitely something I’d watch, very intriguing

If you think this was good, season 1 of Final Space will blow you away! It takes a couple of episodes to get into it. The main character is an over-the -top idiot, and it's too easy to initially write him off as an annoying moron. But after a few episodes, you realize that he's the "lovable idiot with a heart of gold" trope done to perfection! And by the end of the season, you'll realize that this silly cartoon has taken you on a roller coaster of emotions. The voice at the end (her father) is the main character from Final Space (Gary Goodspeed). The ship (or rather its AI) is a major character as well, as is "Kingslayer", although he's just a kid in Final Space.

It's so great to see that the art of animation is still alive, complete with legitimate emotional depth that just doesn't exist anymore in most places. This film and the theme are almost one in the same... a diamond in a sea of sand and desolation. Absolutely beautiful.

I love the “Samurai Jack” art style, and I have never cried 2 minutes into a cartoon before. Thanks for sharing such a fresh, unique and engaging story with us, we are not worthy.
That ending scene BATTERED me, I really appreciate how closely you are flying to Final Space to make it feel like the continuation you guys weren't able to get out the way you may have wanted/planned.

As a person who rarely cries at all - this single pilot almost made me cry twice. This is art. This is beautiful, the artstyle, the dialog, the characters, the voice acting - it`s simply perfect. The characters, the world building, the animation, the voice acting, the artstyle is absolutely gorgeous and stunning with a compelling story. Everything about this pilot already has me invested, huge applause to the team. Can't wait to see where the story is headed.
I experienced the Texas snow storm of 2021. For three nights and two whole days I had no running water, very little bottled water, no electricity, and no heat in a very poorly insulated apartment. By the third day, when I left, it was so cold that the cup of dirty dish water in my sink was frozen. That feeling of having the government failing and abandoning you like you don't exist really hit me.
This is so sick oh my god. The style, the atmosphere. I can't wait to see more. Even if it's like a 3 second clip.

@@OlanRogersHey, no disrespect to you man, but I think this is better than Final Space. It doesn’t seem to have any of the tonal problems, or somewhat forced jokes. The robot does feel like an awkward character, but he’s not in your face.
Not saying Final Space was just that, but you have to admit after season 1 it got way too out of hand. I’m glad you’re back on your feet after what Netflix did to you.
This is everything Final Space fans could have hoped for, and I know new fans will love this as well.

Olan being the robot definitely gives some comedic relief to the incredibly intense atmosphere of this show. Love it.
I love all the references to final space in this. And the fact that some of the voice actors are the same for this pilot. Taking inspiration from his previous work is a tribute. At the same times it is its own thing, the emotional level in this is wonderdul.

This was SO well done, from the “camera” sweeps, to the sound design, and especially the writing and story. I thought you were extremely talented with the Final Space pilot, but your skills have improved even more since then. You deserve every scintilla of praise you get, and I wish you the utmost success. Godspeed, sir.
I hope this is a smash hit and he's able to somehow buy the rights for FS back and then bridge the two series together.

With Kingslayer obviously being a nod towards Avocato and how he was best friends with Gary (or Iris’ Dad in this case), the Computer/AI of the ship obviously being HUE
And finally, the one line that Gary’s father told him.
“It’s good enough for me.”
I may be late to the whole band wagon, but Olan, you have the mind and heart of a true aspiring artist, and one of the greatest people to ever exist

wow. i have no words. this randomly got recommended to me, and is one of the most beautiful indie projects i have ever seen. i can't financially support the project, but i'll do everything i can to share it around. i especially love the beautifully drawn backgrounds, absolutely blew me away. i don't know how to put into words how i feel about this series, but if i knew then i'd sing my praises. incredible, Olan.

There's an artist in Argentina who's a big fan, huge of all your work "Navaja Crimen" is his nick name. I've always loved Final Space, but didn't know much about you or why it was canceled. Just recently he (Navaja) talked about you in the radio, all your story and bringed me to your channel. I'm so gratefull for your will to bring us this work through all the hardships that you've been dealing with. I loved it and hope for this to continue, best of lucks from Argentina, we are waiting for more!

1 million views. And it hasn't even been a full month since the pilot came out. This is insane. Here's hoping we can receive more of stuff like this in the near future because this is utter nuts in some of the best ways possible. Sure, there's some editing mistakes, but I was blown away by how good this pilot was from start to finish. Cheers to the casts and crews making this happen!

I watched this whole episode unknowingly of what channel I was on. I got chills like I did with final space and then it all clicked the moment I realized. Im on board 100%!!!
"Salvation comes in a blink of an eye" hearing that quote again gave me genuine chills !
This Pilot is a beautiful display of one of the reasons why I love animation so much as a genre. Not only was it breathtakingly gorgeous, it was a lovely mix of some of the things that make us human, and how we can express and explore them in stories like this. The line "Life has a way of taking the things that you love the most" hit me so hard, as well as that entire scene with Kingslayer explaining how he was Iris's father's best friend. There are a lot of difficult parts about being human, and the universe/world we live in, but if anything the fact that we're still going despite *everything* shows how strong our will to live and persevere is. Wonderful job to Olan and the entire cast and crew that worked on this, because it is simply amazing to see.
I want to see a full cartoon of this so bad. The apocalyptic theme, the music, the voice acting, and especially the animation is so unique and interesting, I want more and more, this is amazing.
It's so refreshing to see that there are still people, artists out there who still create masterpieces. Hopefully this project will stay strong and go forward to be something great!

I love this art style so much, the expressiveness and the movenent, the colours, "camera" angles... all perfect. Every voice I recognised made me a little happier. It has taken so much to get to this point, and I hope to see so much more of this world and these characters. The way Olan has kept going, kept fighting for his creations is awe inspiring.

Final Space was probably the biggest band aid i got after my father passed (came out like a couple months later, perfect timing really). I just wanna say thank you for inspiring me and so many others by being a stand up guy and an awesome creative :)

This might genuinely be one of the strongest pilots of any show I've ever watched. Every single aspect of this episode from the animation, sound design and acting to the small things like framing is incredible and I really look forward to seeing more. It was also a welcome suprise to recognize so many voices from the cast of final space!
I can feel all the love you had for final space... Godspeed is a spiritual sucessor to a show we dearly loved ! I am looking forward for the rest, you are doing great Olan !
I like the similarities between Godspeed and Final Space. Comic relief robot character check, BA cat character check, talking space ship check. I'm sure there will be other parallels and I am looking forward to it!

I just love all the references to Finale space, like the cookie, Avocato being similar to the other cat character, the music bot giving positive kevin vibes. It almost feels like Her father is Garry from another timeline. I am just amazed how much detail you put into this. It really feels like a siritual succesor with respect to your past works.
