  • I recently bought this Sargent and Greenleaf Safe lock to learn more about group 2 combination locks. In this video I mount it to a piece of plexiglass. I owe a big thanks to Tumbl3r and his video on mounting a safe lock. I will do a follow up video sometime in the near future.

    Great video, i just ran across it, the install on the demo board was fine, and as long as it goes together like it designed to then it's right.
    I just upgraded a Meilink fire safe from a almost all plastic combo box to a new 6700 S&G and now at least it has one re-locker.
    have a great day

    Absolutely Fantastic my friend you have done great job with that it looks perfect, also a great video, I’ve got a S&G group 2 safe lock very similar to your one that I really need to mount up as you have done. Thanks for sharing this great video. Have a great weekend

    Very nicely done buddy, seems like you have a little resistance on the dial probably just needs to be aligned properly my friend.

      Good eyes ;) Yeah It was a little tight, but I didnt want to make the video any longer so I just fixed it after filming.. Thanks Bill! BTW your lake house is beautiful buddy, wow!

    Cool thing. Biggest pain with that kind of thing is alignment so that the dial does not rub unevenly and mess with your feedback.

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, it can be a pain, they even make a Dial alignment tool. but looks like my drilling was spot on ;P haha jokes aside, It did need a slight adjustment hehehe.

    Looks good to me. I wouldn't know where to start with safe locks. I have a couple but that the too hard basket for me.😆 Nice workmanship buddy. 🍺😎

      Thanks Don! Yeah, I know what you mean, they are kind of overwhelming.. and their isn't any videos on safe lock manipulation (that I can find) It's sort of frowned upon to make videos on this topic, which I totally understand. But I would still love to find some videos on it, lol. Thanks for watchin' Don! :)

      @@RookieLock yes true. Michael Maynard is only learning also bit he's done some vids on safe lock manipulation, on a simple one. Basic but when you know nothing, It all helps. 🍺✌

      @@RookieLock there is a good series on it. Search for 'safe cracking for everyone', channel name is 'lock manipulator'. Its wasnt there a year ago but he made this about 8 months ago.

    Nice, I'm excited to watch your progress! I eventually want to get into safe cracking and when I do I'm sure I'll have questions.

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  6 лет назад +1

      The principle is pretty simple but the process is pretty intersting, lol. you gotta have good eyes, you need to be able to measure between 1/8 of a graduation on the dial.. Meaning 1/8 between numbers.. If you want some Literature, let me know!

      @@RookieLock I bought a magnifier with led lights on a stand. Really helps to decide wether its 1/4 of a number or 3/8. Only was 20 bucks and I'm sure you can find them even cheaper.

      @jeroen7062 4 года назад

      @@NicholasAarons search youtube for 'safe cracking for everyone'. This guy made a series with in it everything you need to know, really helps you understand what happens when turning the dial and picking up wheels. Most important is to understand which wheels you are turning at what point so you can visualize whats happening inside of the lock. The channel name is 'Lock Manipulator'.

    The combo looks trick in the persplex. I noticed you had tight spots when dialing the wheel. I think your spindle is off centre. The only resistance you should have whilst dialing is the wheel packs engaging. I have a 6700 series change key floating about somewhere. Hold off buying one. Cheers:-)

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, looks like you have good combo eyes, lol. It was a bit tight, but I didnt want to mess with it any longer on video, made a quick adjustment afterwords and I think its good to go! And buddy that change key would be great!! I was going to ask Bill for one but you too quick :P Wokring on your picks today ;)

    You need to balance the dial sir. Shouldn't drag at all. You can use feeler gauge stock

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  6 лет назад +1

      Good idea! Yeah I didnt want to make the video any longer so I just did it off camera. I actually made a dial alignment tool. Sort of cobbled together but it works.

    You can get 3d printed mounts on the web for these. All these group2 locks pretty much fit it, makes it easier to mount because all the holes are in the exact spot. Just google for it, download the file and have some shop print it for 10-15 bucks.

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  4 года назад

      Yeah, I saw those.. My brother has a 3d printer, I was thinking of getting him to print me one.. But I like the plexi glass one too..

    Hey brother great video, I have an issue with my safe... It's not unlocking...I can get it but it takes around 30 minutes... It's there a quality aftermarket combo lock I can put on it

    • @RookieLock
      @RookieLock  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! I would go on ebay.. you could find this same lock for under 100.. I wouldn't pay anymore than that for it.. But your issue might be simple.. you just might be a number off.. sometimes wheels can drift.. Maybe change your combo before buying a new lock. Hope that helps buddy!
