I bought same milwaukee sander 2nd hand and had same problem with excessive spin on startup. The problem was the previous owner used it to sand drywall and clogged bearings etc. Solution...Open the sander using compressed air to clean and couple drops of mineral oil on bearings will free them up.

I was hoping you were going to pop the old bearing out of the assembly cap so I can see how it's done. My bearing has shattered and I need to get the outer race of the bearing out of the assembly cap but I can't find a video on how to do it.

Good info! Enjoyed the video. I’ve resurrected more then one sealed bearing by removing the rubber seal with a spring hook, cleaning it out and repacking/reinstalling the seal. Some bearings can be very pricey.

Do you tighten the center screw until the fan doesn't move?

No, that center screw screws into that fan to hold the bearing and mounting plate for the pad. The screw should be pretty tight but don’t overdo it because the fan is just cast aluminum and can strip. If the fan isn’t moving you have an entirely different issue.

I have a brand new Milwaukee random orbit that pulls in random directions WAY more than my old one. Is this common or is this because I should used a lower grit to start? I feel like the pull is more than someone is willing to tolerate

Could be a number of things, either a too aggressive grit sandpaper, too much pressure on the sander( don’t push down so hard and let the tool do the work) or there’s a seized bearing inside (less likely but you never know). Start with a higher grit and don’t push down on the sander, just guide it.

I just got one, but it's 120 volt... any comment?

120 volt? Standard household plug I’m guessing, same as 110v like the one I showed in the video. What kind of issues are you having with it?

I agree, I got this one as a gift quite a while ago so I didn’t mind pulling it apart. I’ve since bought a DeWalt and it’s much better quality
