First of all when you have the right engine cover removed and you are trying to change gears so you could see whats the problem, you HAVE to spin the shaft(middle one) simultaneously while changing gears. Thats how its supposed to operate when the engine is running. Otherwise it may seem worse than it really is because the gears arent aligning properly to each other.
And when changing gears with hand you should really push that gear lever firmly and quite fast just like you would do with your feet. How to repair that sort of malfunctions is whole other story. With these kind of engines it is REALLY important to change you engine oil frequently! Thats because theres really not that much oil (0,8 - 0,9 Litres depending on engine) to gather the impurities from the moving parts of the engine and the "oil filter" is a big joke. So the longer you drive with old engine oil the more you harm everything inside your engine including transmission parts! In most cases theres couple of things that are likely to cause gear changing issues: Shitty old engine oil (new oil really makes the difference even when shifting gears!) and too worn out gear shifting drum. Only sure way to find out whats wrong with the gears is to open up the engine completely so you can inspect every part of that system. All of the parts wear out little by little so its possible that nothing is really broken or stuck, most of the parts may just have worn out so much that they dont perform too well anymore. But in most cases theres been: 1- shitty old engine oil, 2- worn out gear shifting drum 3- BOTH and then some :D
@@Volttis I’m doing a full rebuild and when I put the middle cases back together, it engages the kickstart. Is it probably the shifting drum or the transmission. It shifted like sh#t when it did run, even after I replaced the clutch. But now I can’t get it to not move the kickstart gear when I move the clutch shaft
Hi, I removed everything and wanted to put the shift star back on. In the meantime my son switched gears and now I dont know in weich gear I am and which way to put the shift star back on. Seams that no gear sits correctly in the shift star. Do you have a solution for that?
did we ever get a solution to this problem? Having the same issue and really dont want to have to break down the entire trans to see about bent shift forks etc...
Yo I’m having an problem when I shit all the way down it lets me roll then if I shift all the way up I roll. Like in neutral. I have a semi automatic semi automatic dirtbike
put gear box in neutral .....open the left cover and loosen the bolt that holds the gear colector......then loosen the philips head bolt from the right side and pull it a little bit out side............then you can tight (not too much) the left bolt and its ok

Thanks man that comment saved me a unneeded lower end rebuild. Cheers!

Most of the time it is clutch wear out
