There's nothing I love more than walking round someone elses garden/allotment - and having a wee nosy at how their plants are doing - even better when I can sit here and be 'taken round' whilst sipping on a cuppa! 😁
As per other comments here, I also love a garden tour. Learn so much from them when healthy plants are pointed out, pest issues, struggles, achievements. Weather, tips, etc. Helps the viewers to praise, learn and commiserate just as much as how-to’s.
@@simplifygardening I really did, Tony!!! I’m in awe of your compost setup; I know it was hard work getting it established for this year when you uploaded a video moving all that free stuff that was delivered. I couldn’t have done it. So sorry about the chickens. Everything looks beautiful and tidy. The soft fruit! Wow! The potato database will be incredibly useful for your viewers. There’s barely any useful information for gardeners re determinates, etc. My word, you must’ve put your heart and soul into it!!! You are such a star! Take good care. Hope putting up the soft fruit goes well.
Yes, you are back, Tony Great tour of your garden!!! Everything looks good, especially the fruit cage. I'm amazed at the amount of fruits in there. Well done 👏
Welcome back…great to see the allotment is doing very well. Good luck with your public speaking and on-line tools, and info. I love to see how things are progressing in Wales, as we don’t have great weather here (N. East Coast), encouraging to see your crops are doing roughly the same as ours…😊. You’re the reason Tony, I grow my spuds in tubs, and they been so productive. Thank you.
Wow Tony, i thought i had a lot to do! I dont know how you keep up with all that and work and your youtube channel as well. The harvesting and preserving alone must take ages, never mind all the other stuff gardeners have to do. Credit to you! Its amazing!
Well I've been following your channel for two years now and after watching this video I have allotment envy. 😀 I am encouraged by your slug problem as I too have suffered as never before 😲 My garden is 600ft above sea level here on the South Wales Border so can understand the wind problem totally. ♥ I shall look forward to your imersive potato app. 😀x
You definitely have a lot of work to do, mate. Your garden looks great! When I had chickens I had a wire fence in the coop like you and added a welded wire fence to it that was buried one feet deep. It was enough to keep foxes and racoons out.
Tony it looks so colourful, plenty to pick and enjoy. It was lovely to have this tour and to get motivated for our coming spring, had frost the last two mornings its been very cold this year. I am going to install a drip system but will have to be connected to our mains no way to collect water as garden is too small and on a hill. Take care and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Definitely do not give away anything you work hard to develop there are too many in this world will take it and monetise it for themselves. The potatoe data sounds amazing. Over here I struggle to id what some potatoes are i am sure there are many like me.
Are you reenacting the feeding of the 500 🤭, wow Tony so much fabulous looking vegetables. Slugs have been crazy all over they ate half my tomato plants. Good to see you back in the garden, Ali 🌞🥵🫠🇨🇦
Love tours around growing spaces we can only aspire to own. Looking forward to the potato video and whether it’ll eclipse the one you were telling us about at Malvern. Happy gardening 🌱
Hi Tony, glad your back, great work with a potato data base, that would be beneficial for many potato gardener’s and public speaking which you do so well. Thank you for the garden tourTony, garden still looking great, okay there’s a few things yet to do, we are all like that. Sorry about the chickens, damn foxes, hope you can redo the chicken coop to protect the new flock when you get them, I’m sure you’re missing the fresh eggs. Just to add hope the garlic was a good harvest for you. It’s been raining so much in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 so no need to water the garden, mostly onion and garlic with a few odd things like potatoes and carrots, if I do need to water it just use the captured rain water, but it’s hard getting things done when it’s so wet.😁
My fig trees are masters at plating possum! They are quite convincing that they are dead then spring back and show so much vibrant life! They're amazing!
Hi Tony, watch a lovely tour of your plot, always lots of hints & tips too. Looking foward to watching you potato video. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
This is what we need someone who cares about other gardener's to try and get us sorted out with some really good information and not just that but all the codes for super deals 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Great to see you back Tony and l have to say your runner beans look pretty good, my beans on the other hand have all been eaten by snails the plants were covered in them l've never seen so many snails out of at least 50 plants l don't have a single one left, for the first time in 30 odd years l've given up on the beans (it's soul destroying looking at a long row of bare canes) l did try slug pellets but the crows eat every pellet. Next year l'm going to try netting for the first time.
Hi Tony your well being garden is lovely, I'm always glad you show us everything even what's not worked although mostly everything looks fantastic ❤ Great video 👍
I did realize not seeing video from you in some time. Your garden for the most part looks absolutely great! Your only human with two hands and only so many hours in a day!
Thanks Tony for your videos and getting that potato databse together. Looking forward to seeing it. I was just planting some late potatoes in containers and had to search around to figure out if they were determinate or indeterminate so I'm sure it will be helpful to a lot of people.
Nice to have you back! I missed your channel videos. Definitely you have plants with needs well met! Do the cherry trees shade the onions? They like full sunlight. Nodding onion grows in the forest, I want to try that one. Perennial tree collards would help provide a wind break. Your rhubarb looks really big and needing to be divided. They would do well under the cherry tree as long as it's away from the tree roots. Have you tried skirret? It's another perennial and I'm really excited about this plant since it creates usually around 5-15 offsets per plant in the first year under ideal growing conditions and is pretty much disease free and bug resistant and delicious. Of course it's quite delicious to voles also. Your garden looks great. Your corn is a bit slow perhaps you should give them nitrogen, or plant beans which are nitrogen fixers... Great tour thanks your very good keeping the weeds away! I let the only 2 weeds grow: amaranth and pigweed since they are delicious choice edibles. Great boiled up, much better than spinach, kale or any other boiled green in my opinion. But that's just my opinion, thats just me. Your tastes may differ. :)
They get it for around 6 hours as the sun comes up behind them, but ideally it would be better suited elsewhere. the cherry trees have piled on a ton of growth this year
I never have an issue with the butterfly on Kale, they always want the brassicas besides them so I don't bother cover. I also do a second sowing around now which will come behind these if required
Love your hard work and expertise, and sorry about your chicken loss. Chicken wire is made only to keep chickens in, not keep out predators. You need welded wire mesh for that, including under the fence line where they like to burrow and on the 'roof'. Lost count how many times we've found many cats on our racing pigeon coop roofs, and had several hawks try to smash into the wire mesh unsuccessfully. Our coops average 8 to 10 ft tall and we're not sure how cats get onto the roofs but a swipe with a broom gets them off fast.

Your North American fruit shrub would be a Haskap or honeyberry. Yum. They make magnificent jam, chutney, and filling for baking. They are too tart for me for fresh eating off the bush.

Amazing work, great to see you seeing enjoying the fruits of your labour! May I ask when did you plant your garlic? We're in the same region as you, and planted a spring variety in early April, the stems have grow big but I'm not sure if we should dig them up yet? Some leaves are yellowing a bit, mostly at the tip. We test dug one and it seemed a little small 😂 more of a bulb than cloves. No scales yet either, which we've been looking forward to tasting. Appreciate your advice. Keep up the fantastic work, very inspiring!
Do you ever let your tomatoes grow bottom up and hang from something? I do and my indetermates like it and there's no need for clipping and caging the flavor seems to be more intense
Hello Tony, i just like your allotment. Me and my garden hasn't got as far this year due to ill health. I also love your t-shirt, is it self made, or where have you got it from? Greetings from Kenneth in Norway.
Hey Kenneth. The T shirt was from an online company, I bought a few dif ones I forget it name atm but I will try and find it for you. Hope your feeling better soon
Lovely garden! In your view, how is your Northern Polytunnel holding up? Has it been 3 years since you made it’s installation video? Just wondering as I’m considering one myself, and would be grateful if you had any headsup that I should know about, from your experience.
I absolutely love it. Its held up again 100mph winds, the windows are brill for ventilation. the staging is brilliant. the only issue I had with mine was the roll down plastic for the window coverings, that went brittle very quickly. but turned out it was a bad batch of plastic and was replace Free of charge with no issues at all. Yeah its been 3 years and the thing is as good as the day I bought it. If I could afford it id buy another and replace the home built one at the back where the grapes are. If you do decide to buy one. I would appreciate it if you went through my link as I would get a small kick back at no cost to you, this helps fund the channel, Thanks. northernpolytunnels.co.uk/?ref=simplify
I had massive problems with foxes and I would dig down 12 inches and put zinc sheeting down with the zinc 2ft above grond level A weld mesh nailed to a 4x2 as the rabbit wire isn't much good these days.
My fruit cage developed a hole - only found out when I saw a blackbird inside & no gooseberries or blackcurrants left.☹As for broad beans; I planted three 10m rows down a 1m wide bed, as both I & my brother always liked them. Sadly, he passed away unexpectedly in January & I'm going to be living on beans for months, as I harvested 45kg (including pods) from that one bed & so far, I've blanched & frozen 8kg of actual beans & there's probably another 5kg yet to do. I used slug nematodes 3 or 4 weeks ago & they don't seem to have been very effective (different supplier from last year).
Its amazing. it will power any 240 volt, and 12 volt, any 24volt item. I use it all day and prob dont even use half the capacity. they are not cheap but are so worth it. I even used it to run our freezer, fridge and tv and saalite system during a powercut with no issues for over 14 hours and it still had 46% battery left in it when the power came back on. Ive used it if i go to the beach or anywhere i wanna use power. So worth every penny. There is a link below in the description to learn more about it
Its a lot of work for sure lol. But i do love it. Lets just say I work until all hours creating content for you guys and when not in work im either out with family or at the garden
oh i wish i could use my grass clippings but got the dreaded clover and creeping buttercups and daisies and ground ivy, pretty lawn but overtakes the grass, can i still use it oh and the smaller hogweed too as mulch?
The cabbage white doesn’t bother much with it but I’ll do a couple sowing so a second sowing will be done around now. White fly is a pain tho but plants usually to big at that point
no they are microscopic worms that bore into slugs and hunt them, they prevent the slug feeding and they die. i have a video on it I talk more about it in this video. ruclips.net/video/6R7LkDigfDc/видео.html
@simplifygardening Thank you! We're struggling to keep up with everything. Was building a 'potato platform' with 30 litre pots, but had to leave our farm to help my brother following his emergency surgery before water system completed. Yield was poor, but I will be trying again during our southern hemisphere spring. All the best, thanks for your video production.
Dry, hot weather - what’s that? 😳 I’m so far behind with my veg and general gardening due to the amount of rain we have had in the NW and strong cold winds. Praying for a few weeks of dry weather - please, it’s been a very bad summer so far. Usually everything is in by the end May bank holiday (last frost date here) but we are about 4 weeks behind 🫣

you can still use it on compost and mulch, just watch for any sprouting and pull it as soon as you see it
@@simplifygardening oh wonderful advice thanks Tony, good to know always seems a shame to rid it to a recycle plant

'Nematodes down on the ground' for slugs and snails? I need to learn more. Is that EM?
no they are microscopic worms that bore into slugs and hunt them, they prevent the slug feeding and they die. i have a video on it I talk more about it in this video. ruclips.net/video/6R7LkDigfDc/видео.html
What are the bags on your grapes?
They are net fruit bags when purchasing veg and fruit from supermarkets
Dry, hot weather - what’s that? 😳 I’m so far behind with my veg and general gardening due to the amount of rain we have had in the NW and strong cold winds. Praying for a few weeks of dry weather - please, it’s been a very bad summer so far. Usually everything is in by the end May bank holiday (last frost date here) but we are about 4 weeks behind 🫣
Yeah I think everyone is
Фина башта.
Those hoops on the end of your beds were, did you get them from.
They are the footer and headers of steel bed frames. I got them when our fire station refurbed and they changed the beds
@simplifygardening oh wow, that's a really good idea they look great. I'll be keeping an eye for something similar.
