There no going around the fact that Viltrox has entered the big league of high end optical performance. This goes head to.head above the best that Leica or Zeiss or Voightlander have to offer. This is price/performance ratio unlike anything else on the market. Very very very well done Viltrox. Hats off and keep going💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Viltrox is a cat among the pigeons for sure. The big names are sweating about the day they start putting out zoom lenses.

@@JohnDoe-xm1ir Maybe he is saying that Viltrox is a Chinese company. But I don't think so because the camera market is not a big market. However, as a Chinese, I like to see Chinese companies producing more and more high quality lenses because of the affordable prices, and I look forward to the future when there will be Chinese camera brands like Canon, Nikon and Leica. But I'm not too optimistic about that, because the big Chinese entrepreneurs don't see the camera market as profitable.

Also consider the cheap Nikon 24 f1.7 DX. It’s easier to use on the Zfc without the grip. 🤓
I think Chris sweet spot is aps-c lens. They are budget friendly. Also we have to mention full frame lenses are always more expensive. A cheap full frame lens is expensive for aps-c shooters.
Exactly. Full frame lenses on apsc body is an expensive solution be it first party or third party.

I'd love a full frame version of this for Nikon Z, we are lacking quality mid wide lenses of from 28-35mm.
That would be a 40mm f1.8, which isn't far from the already existing Z 35 1.8 albeit that lens has a more boring design without aperture ring.
@@fotografalexandernikolis the initial lenses released by Viltrox really need a second version. They are a step below the quality of their 13mm, 16mm, 27mm & 75mm lenses.
@@OnlyCitrusoh yeah, the old viltrox lenses need a remake, but i doubt they will do it because, imo, they're making lenses in the pro line for that purpose, a shame because i really like those early viltrox lenses despite their flaws

40/2 exists. Roughly similar in equivalent. 27/1.2 is equivalent to 40/1.8
Probably not sharp from edge to edge but it's really compact and if you want more serious one, use their 50/1.8S or even 50/1.2S

Once again, why they don’t make lenses like this for the full frame cameras is beyond me and a highly missed opportunity to be one of the best manufacturers in the game
because it will be HUGE and weight over 1.5 kg, 1.2 on APSC is not the same as FF
Because f1.2 on APS-C is equivalent to f1.8 on FF in terms of DoF, and the FF 1.4-1.8 market is already very saturated. The Sigma 35 1.4 DG DN ART is pretty similar to this lens. But it's not impossible for Viltrox to make 1.4 FF lenses, maybe we'll see some in the future.
1.2 will for Full Frame with this quality will be very expensive and really heavy.
Because this lens going on fullframe will be expensive and even bigger and heavier
Maybe closet competition is the Sigma APS-C lenses on Z mount.
I'm between this one and the Sigma 30mm. So difficult to choose

Makes me purchase of the voigtlander D 35mm F/1.2 look like a bigger waste of money for my Z50 it is soft all the way through to practically F/4. Granted I only paid $300 for it which is where I hover for my DX lenses this one is kinda pricey at $500 by contrast.
I wonder if Viltrox would ever venture into AF Zoom territory?
Just wondering whether the performance against bright light could improve if we put on a nice filter with coating?
No, afraid not
Adding an extra piece of glass that's not part of the lens' formula can never improve its output.
