Animal Behaviorist and Theatrical Animal Trainer Bill Berloni has worked with many different types of animals in the theatre for over 40 years. We follow the journey as he demonstrates the process of working with animals on the stage. From training and engaging with rescues off stage to working with the talent (including the incredible Isabella Rossellini) to making routine checks at the theatre, making sure everyone is comfortable and happy - Bill has truly created a world where theatrical animals and their friends at the theatre are supported.
American Theatre Wing’s Working in the Theatre documentary series features the most fascinating people on the stage, behind the scenes, and in the audience. From Tony Awards® and Obie Awards® winning artists to the next generation of theatre makers, we capture theatre’s inner-workings, industry luminaries, and unique stories that surround important work.

I love that it starts from a place of love and respect for the animals.

I occasionally perform with my pet parrot, Dumpling. This video provides the exact sort of guidance I need. Thank you!

The way he trains the animals is very amazing. It shows how much compassion he has for them.

Thank you for all of your hard work full of love for the animals. It's wonderful to see an animal havenig fun rather than going on stage because they have to because they fear the handler.

It's a good thing I am seeing this video because at my school, CUNY Hunter College, they have an upcoming performance of Link Link Circus. It will play at the Frederick Loewe Theater from April 18 to May 3 of this year.

I'm not surprised at all that you use rescued dogs. They are so appreciative for being adopted. More and more, as I get older, I like dogs better than most people!

I have a pure-bred show dog who is VERY appreciative and adores me. She picked me. Dogs, rescues or not, have a great capacity for unconditional love, something humans lack.
