It’s nice to see how these people survive in a world dominated by formidable fauna and malicious monsters. They seem to be more technologically advanced than I initially thought, but still confined to an era before the industrial revolution. This gives them great control over Kaimere but still makes them vulnerable to the many creatures that inhabit it.
    Also, oh no! More bugs!

The Pakardiant Iraku knife looks like a Kukri knife of India and Nepal, curved and able to be used on both downstrokes and upstrokes.
Some of those Telmede weapons remind of the weapons of elves in The Lord of the Rings.
I also love those stances, like the stances used by the fighters of the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +3

Iraku was inspired by kukris, khopesh, and falcata, good for close quarters chopping and slashing.
Telmede weapons were inspired by a range of historical swords (mostly sabers and rapiers) which may have also inspired some of the weapons that WETA designed I'm not sure of the inspiration on all their pieces, but I know a lot of the elf swords were based on Indian and Middle Eastern cutting swords.

@@TalesofKaimere Indeed, Weta Workshop took inspiration from many sources for the weapons it made, with the elves having leaf motifs engraved in them and some having holes in them which allowed for air to pass freely through the blade.

@@sivanlevi3867 In Nickelodeon Avatar universe, the stances/movements that the characters use to control and move the natural elements are just completely the exact same differents asiatic martial arts ones (they just add the elements in question moving in front of them and following the movements of their limbs (leger, arms) at their tips).
In a way, that was a good lazy work they done, but good and happily for them, the results were enjoyable to see.
(Just a shame that now, due to the horrible and desastrous gestion of the overall franchise and stupid and not mastered forced progressism the series and what we see in it as a whole are not so enjoyable and not as comfortable to watch again anymore...).

Given just how long the people of Kaimere live, I'd expect them to be ultra-concervative, very averse to change, very averse to violence, very concentrated on the long-term goals and the eternal wisdoms of their cultures. Kinda like ancient Egyptians.

    • @dudotolivier6363
      @dudotolivier6363 2 года назад +17

      They are !
But like in our world (even if not as often), there some fragile setting, context and incident event that were and are so high, bad and big that some kaimeran societies in their history have, forvarious reasons, do "exceptions" and broke theri rules to do conflicts with some specific or all the others societies.
Kaimeran are highly aware of all the weaknesses and problems (even curses) that their long lifespan biology give to them along with the beneficial things.
But even with greats efforts in term of peace's treaties, reinforcement to avoid conficts, education of childrens to "well conditioned" (in a good true conditionement), positive mentality, etc... there always problems that happen (like neighborhood problem) that varied following the personality of the people targeted.
And sometime, there wong people with bad or not good personality that lead to errors that are put as leader time to time, and with some regretable incidents.
Kaimeran are highly conservative in many things, but thankfully, most of their beleives, "religions" and rules are based on good, honrable and respect things.
Kaimeran respect the Nature as a whole, and follow her rules, and kaimeran do in a way or another what others animals do in general in wild.
They are very open in most of things (this is why the "well conditionement" I mention upper isn't perfect. Because kaimeran parents educate as good as possible their kids to do only good things, but must give and leave them with enough liberties of theri own and free will for nmerous reasons).
The Matriarcal systems, LGBT people/domain, for example, are well-accepted in their societies, in most of case like if that was nothing and normal.
The woman-man equality is respected most of the time, whatevers in a matriarcal or patriarcal ethnic group inthe Known World.
Due to their respect toward nature, Kaimeran have done few true negative impact on the environement and fauna and flora.
The only extinctions they made are local extinctions, and there any true complete extinction of a specie that was done by them.
In good part, they manage to cohabit well with nature and animals even if these later went or are near into their settlements.
Kaimeran are not averse to change, they accept change, but their society evolved slowly because they have a long lifespan.
Because every kaimeran are like us, we remain what and how we are all our life.
And went we live well in our life (when we have our habits, daily routines etc.), we just don't want to change anything.
This lastiest point is a little idiot saying like this, but it's how thing go.

I haven't yet finalized by dinosauroid and flightless pterosaur weapons so don't have examples I'm ready to go public with, but I can say the best base is to look at your animal's anatomy and start with what is most intuitive. Although piercing swords are often considered more sophisticated and tend to deliver more lethal blows, cultures keep independently developing chopping swords because ultimately that most compliments our anatomy. Katanas, sabers, and scimitars are so popular because it's fundamentally the same method that the first monkey that whacked another monkey with a stick used. Look at the anatomy of your creature, see what it attacks with, and enhance from there. They can have their rapier analogues (more effective weapons that aren't necessarily intuitive) but it will make your worldbuilding feel really grounded if a lot of fighters prefer to default to the more intuitive weapons.

I don't think that both the Dinosauroïds Troodontid and the Flightless Pterosaurs Tapejarid of Kaishel have weapons.
So far, to this day, the Flightless Pterosaurs Tapejarid of Kaishel and Pakardia are all shown to be confirmed sapient, but outside that, to continue to live as normal animals. Following nature's seasons and in merge with her.
The weapons they can have and use so far at this state are the same than current Chimpanzee and Gorilla use. Basic tools as simple wood branches and rocks.
For the case of the Dinosauroïds, they can pronate and turn in every position their hands like us, primates, since their hands are disposed as supination.
Having their hands in a supination stance allow them noneless to take many objects in their hands and arms. With more precision and maniability if they had evolved a opposable thumb to better grap objects.
But since they remain in a horizontal body position like normal theropods and not in a vertical/upright position like humans or primate, their maniability level to use weapons remain limited ans not as efficient and precise than our own level.
Already, using bows or crossbows is almost impossible for them.
To toss and throw long distances weapons like lances, must also be highly difficult.
Melee weapons still the best option for them.
But since the Dinosauroïds are very small in term of size, even compared to a Kaimeran, their proper weapons object they can take and have in hands are also small in size, and the injuries they can do to a human or Kaimeran will be always not very serious or painful.
In a 1v1, a Dinosauroïds, face to a Kaimeran or human, will already have high difficulties to attack, even more if the opponent have a normal regular armor on him.
So, whatever the case, even given injuries or to attack the ennemy with weapons or with their fangs and claws will be a great challenge for the sapient Troodontids.
Dinosauroïds Troodontid, without weapons or armor, will already have great difficulty to attack a Kaimeran/human with or without armor, because at the opposite of a Cockatrice raptor, they are too small and their claws and fangs less efficient and dangerous (because the injuries will be lesser big and painful as an effect).
Troodontid are already at the base less robust, bulky, finner and with less efficient claws in term of to give injuries than a Dromaeosaurid raptor. Biologicaly speaking.
Without mentioning that so far to this day, their culture and civilisation is pretty primitive and basic (living likely in small villages/tribes) with basic/primitive tools and weapons.
Their culture and society level is similar to all the Homo Altus populations on Kaimere, who are (or seem) all more primitive and less advance than the one of the Kaimeran. Having a life more similar to the one of the prehistoric people tribe during the Pleistocene paleolithic period.
Their fighting with weapons level must be sufficient in conflicts between them or in a fight an animal smaller or equal to them in term of size. But when it come with anything bigger than them, it's all another story.
Must preferred to flee in this situation.
They can have a chance to win over a Kaimeran or human if they are not alone, in a small group from 5 to around 10.
Dinosauroïds Troodontid are first intelligent and a clever species that obviousely use first and mainly their high intellect level to face problems and obstacles, rather to use their body power (this later bieng already low).

Like in Demon Slayer, the homunculies, all the possible species, are unkillable whatevers the injuries (even if their head are decapitated). Only magic weapons can kill them for good !
Their regenerator factor is due to the permanent magic inside them.
Kaimeran have also this regenerator power to heal from any injuries, but the level is way lesser than the one of a homunculi.
Because magic inside kaimearan can't in time heals severe injuries analogous to ours hard ones on earth, the ones where the injuries make bleed, or touch vitals organs, and decapitation.
All others injuries that don't make bleed or not really many are all healed normally after a period of time without problems.

    Let's GOOOO!!!! It's here!
I love how absolutely massive and chonky some of the weapons and armor are. Very Monster Hunter, but in a grounded way. Like - the prevalence of armored chaps makes me think both, "That underbrush is no joke," and "What are they RIDING?" Those enchanted weapons absolutely look like they could cleave into something massive if needed. I love the curves and the back edges on Aznar and Sarcosuchus- uh- Sarkoszuko. (I dunno if that was intentional but I do love it.) I think my favorites are the polearms though, because I do have a fondness for reach weapons. Kuduket and Tamkopa are... Hooo. I want to hold those ones. They look magical and ceremonial and Very Very Cool. I think Tamkopa wins out as my favorite just because I have never seen a hoof used in weaponry before. (I may just be horribly ignorant in the department of creative weapon design.) That's a shape I'd recognize instantly if you put it in a silhouette lineup of a bunch of magic weapons.
Having consulted the Sinister Swordsman companion videos on the matter and having done some martial arts, myself (karate, escrima, fencing, and tai chi) I can safely-ish say that I would be... uh... style dependent on the weapon. Fists or smaller weapons, I'm definitely bouncy enough for Air style - in fact that's sort of how I used to spar when I was actively practicing kenpo. Certified Smol Bean, very hard to hit. Anything polearm-based (which is my preference) I'd rather armor up and use Earth style. Longswords? Ice. Ice all the way. I don't have the precision for Lightning but I do have the patience for it, and that snappy backlash from Ice style is just... Chef's Kiss. I love it.
I could totally see the Telmede having martial arts festivals of sorts to show off the more theoretical core or personality of their styles. Like Taiko but with swords. Or. Something. That made sense in my head. I might have enjoyed this episode. :D

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +2

I'm so glad you had so much fun with this! I definitely had a blast. Sarkoszuko's name wasn't a direct reference to the croc, but I named it when I was twelve and I can only assume it was inspired lol. I've not encountered a hoof as a weapon, but as I was thinking about the antlers as a hand guard, the hoof in place of a pommel that by virtue of its shape pierce the armored hide of demons made sense to me. They're pretty clearly made with the artistic flair as a priority, but still need to be functional.
Working with Gabriel was a real treat. I have a really basic understanding of a wide range of martial arts (never specialized but wanted to get a spectrum for foundational understanding) so getting critique and feedback from someone with his level of expertise was a pleasure. Definitely is going to inform the combat scenes going forward!

Dinosaurs of the ornithischian clade, like ankylosaurs and hadrosaurs, lacked the degree of air sacs and pneumatization so would not have had that endurance advantage. When I say that dinosaurs excel in endurance and mammals in speed, that’s just general trends, not hard laws

An excellent question, and you better believe it! Their personality is usually based around a desire to kill, a hatred of magical beings like demons and homunculi, and a protection of their host. Sarkoszuko is arguably the most powerful enchanted weapon, and is extremely defensive of Pakardiant in addition to having a desire to kill, something Elijah grapples with in his relationship with the sword.

Random Questions: Just about some precision from the last video :
1 - Around how many breeds of dog, whatever their kind, exist on Kaimere ?
Since kaimeran are restricted to the Known World and not the entire planet at the opposite of us, their number must be highly restricted.
Also I can guess that wave of earth domestic brought during the Mercantil Age have reinforces the local domestic dogs of kaimere.
2- So, there any Canis lupus ?
But during the North Eurpore harvest during the Pleistocene, that was this specie of wolf that was present at this time ?
What was the Mossbach Wolf ?
Since wolves are social pack animal, their domestication into dogs by our ancestors on earth was pretty easy (cubs imprint on humans and wolfs accept as leader any kind of leader whatever his specie).
So why wolves parallel domestication was hard on Kaimere ?
It's because the environemental presure was so hard that wolves become so aggressive toward any kind of life, even kaimerans ?
3 - How Kaimerans handle feral and wandering/whithout owner dogs population ?
Because wandering dogs who run freely and wildly in the street, inside twon and village or in the wild near these latter must be a problem in a way.
(on earth, wandering dogs pack can destroy cars, attack livestock or attack humans, among the most proeminent problem they can give).
4 - What is the Distribution of the Mainland Wolf on the mainland ?
If this specie is present on the Western Continent and outside the Known World, did the Homo Altus have them like pets and use them for many uses ?

It's crazy to see that the only aspect of their long live preserved Kaimeran from almost all the dangerous things that that would have been made or redone in their society.
In (and to be) short : to do most of the same errors earth humanity have did ! (or at least in the same level, and instead in a way lesser level than we did).
Fire and Gun weapon are rare on Kaimere, owned almost only by nobles and almost never used and just litterally exposed as collectionable items.
Kaimeran don't use modern weapon, and don't try to invent them indenpendantly, because the Free States people don't highly or normaly at all introduced/brought these kind of weapon in the first place. And replicate such weapon whithout a sufficient number to rely on is very difficult.
And because kaimeran known, by the Free States, how Earth's people act with so bloody and barbarous behaviors with power/fireguns (and it's not honorable to see). And often in such stuid context and events Earth people do and pratics wars and use these gun weapons in the first place (often by selfishness, avidity or others not honrable or pertinent reasons).
And since they have like mentality than everything related to humans are bad for them and Earth in general being considered like the worst place in universe (diseasesn infinite wars, infinite and numerous genocide etc..), it's make sens than they don't use fire weapon so much or at all.
They completely understand that they must not act and use the same modern items like humans (bombs, radiation, biologic weapons or whatevers that can lead to high genocides with numerous deaths) to be (alway) "better" in a way than humans, and also to avoid mass death that could be fatal for their kinds since their low births and grow biology, and the fact they live a dangerous world with any mortal dangers, not allow them to put aside their deaths rate.
Kaimeran prefers primitive and basic weapons because these later can hurt but not kill as efficiently than fireguns, and only shooting or attacking body parts as limbs, legs, arms, or the body himself whatever the location at he moment the wound is not so deep and big, are sufficient to defeat an opponent.
Also, using fireguns/power weapons must be regarded as tabou and bad, and Kaimeran must considered using them as deloyal, vicious, brutal ,efficient to kill and too overpowerfull in everything, when it come to fight an opponent or to hunt and kill an animal.
Because killing with a firegun is soooo tooooo over easy and quick, since one bullet and one shoot can go deeply into the body's interior whatever where the impact was made, and kill directly whatever the organs (heart, lungs and the brain).
And since firegun, with or without a riflescope installed on it, are all too precise that people can shoot anywhere on the body the body part they want, whatever the distances between the shooter and the target.
And firguns can shoot many bullets quickly by seconds instead of bows or crossbows who need to recharge their arrows and ask some additionals precious seconds.
Bullets also act as a poison since bullet are made of metal and metal give diseases when inside a body. Animal who escape but have mtal bullet in them die but poisonous reaction.
In short, kaimeran must see, at reasons, fireguns as too over the top compared to the others lond distances or melee weapons.
Whatevers with opponents and their preys, kaimerans have a high respect of the Life, and have great respect for the ones of animals and their oponents.
When they are in fight with another kaimerans, they alway try to not kill them and to ake them srrenders and prisonners in the first place (killing is ony a last minutes appeal).
And whatevers they fight an opponent or hunt an animals, they always put a great honor, as respect toward the ennemies or target life, to put a 50/50 percent chances of wins or escape to them.
In shaort, they do everytihng in order that their hunt or fight leave a chance to their adversary or prey. To make a equality by giving them a chance to win them or escape during a hunt in the case of an animal (kaimeran respect anture rules and hunt like normals predators as possible, and don't succeed to kill a prey during a fight everytime like every predators).
But with fireguns, people always everytime wins over their opponent and kill with to efficiencies their preys.
And that take away life brutally and too directly at one second like that with a chance or equal to equal fight.
Kaimeran disagree with "Indiana Jones' with Arabian Saber Guy from the first 1984 movie " method and prefer all the primitive and basic weapons such bow, crossbow, sabers, axes, lance or shield (yes, shield are also good weapons too) because these weapons are more honorables and pures ones in many symbolic ways !
So, yes, good that all this currently and will always preserved them to make most of the errors humans do on our Earth.
Their high long lifespan allow them to be highly to completely open like it's was nothing towards LGBT domain (like see in the LGBT episode), at the moment the targeted people made offsprings (the one and only, and very reasonable, condition).

Random Question : It's possible to have some precisions about the folowing subject
the following questions are just questions about some precisions about homosexuality and queer/LGBT stuff in general on Kaimere, that I think they need more precision.
(And yes, it's a bit long, so sorry by advance about that).
1 - About Rolanix and Yutani relationship case... It's good to know, and for them, that they can live their love story without any real problem since the two are destined to remain in the same tribe.
However, A) if Yutani is reconized as a woman, her biological body remain the one of a man (I think, when you stated she was transexual, it's like transexuals on earth who have their body who gender swap after an operation ? Because I don't think Kaimeran have the technological level to do this. No?)
    B) So, if Rolanix is attracted netherless by Yutani, since we are always attracted physicaly, that mean he's Homosexual ?! Right ?
    C) But if Yutani is a woman but Rolanix a Homosexual, their couple is why ? A hetero couple (like between a normal man and woman) or a homosexual ?
Will have been honest and agree, their specific case of them is .... complex.
2 - It’s possible for Kaimeran to truly genderswap (and being transexual at all the all meanings of the term, especially the first that come to mind) ?
3 - If they can, since Kaimeran or any humanoid species on Kaimere are less technologically advance than us on Earth to allow the existence of medical operation people do on earth to change sex, how they do them ? Do they use magic ?
4 - Have you plan to do a video about homosexuality in animals
5 - If a good part of the high tolerance/acceptance of the no-LGBT Kaimeran toward LGBT ones is due to a, more or less, sort of “deal” between them (with Kaimeran accepted homosexuals or transsexuals without problems at the moment these later produce at least some offspring if they can. It’s literally what we have here), can we explain this also by the fact that, in part, on Kaimere, most of Kaimeran religions and believes are not at all similar to any of the ones of earth too ?
Because on earth, most, if even all, of the religions outside the one of the Paleolithic eras claim and have in similarity that the entities know as gods created the world and humans and these religions and the religion’s people or no-religion’s people, even if anything like lines or sentences is directly said specifically on LGBT (who even are not mentioned at all in fact), are against these latter because of two things :
One, because the Gods created the man and the woman to be togethers and procreate, and it’s all, and there any others purpose or compromise because of that. And we must also accept the
And Two, because it’s disturbing to see two persons of the same sex to “do the thing” (which, let be agree it’s understandable, because it’s almost instinctive in us, since most of the people around us are heterosexual and most of us aren’t accustomed to see homosexual).
HOWEVER ! On Kaimere, most religions and believes evolved independently (except the ones from human brought on Kaimere during Mercantil Era), and Kaimeran mostly have more or less like god(dess) Mother Nature and their believes being composed mostly by good or bad spirits who incarnates more of the time the nature’s elements and/or the animals. In many ways, their overall religions and believes are closer/similar to the ones of the numerous Paleolithic archaic prehistoric humans believes, the Animism, the Druidism or even the Paganism/Pagans in a certain way, on earth. These ones praising the laws of nature and the respect of this latter.
Since the laws the kaimerans mostly believed, respect and do follow the exact same and reals laws than the Mother Nature laws in real life (like the evolution, the seasons circles, natural selection, etc.), which aren’t against LGBT if the conditions allowed it, this is also why in good part Kaimeran accept LGBT too ? I think that also explain why a good part of kaimeran populations are matriarchal too ? Right ?
6 - Have I just give good similarities about the religions of Kaimere compared to the ones of earth ?
7 - I noticed since a long time that men keep their hairs (very) long, like women. And that short haired people are very, very rare on Kaimere. Have kaimeran give (high) importance to hairs ? What beliefs or symbolics they give to hairs, to respect them to the point to leave them quiet ? Like, they recognize that hairs are a strong part of them, and that hairs symbolize how each people are inside in addition to show their personalities (if they have problems/issues or crazy with spiky hair, or clam and mature with long, smooth and healthy hairs) ? Hairs are considered as sacred because of these reasons.
8 - Is cutting your hair (extremely) taboo ? Because that no longer allows you to quickly see and analyze the personality of the targeted person in question ? That is considered to be like if the person denied his identity, his personality, his legacy, his family, his culture and traditions ?
10 - And even more taboo if it’s done for anything, for absolutely nothing, for no (relevant) reasons ?
11 - Not a question, but just so you know that I made and put a (huge I agree, in fact, literally a “thesis”) commentary specially intended to you Keenan Taylor. About the LGBT subject in modern medias, how he is commonly used and depicted, his great weaknesses and how it could be handled better. And I think what I made like “overall analyze” of the subject is relevant and can benefit other people who follow your channel.
My commentary is easily findable (he’s on the top of the commentary list, the first line said directly that is intended for you, and it’s the only commentary to have at least around eight answers/responses under him).
You should read/check it, at least. He worth it !😄

I didn't see any mention of slings being used on Kaimere which could be a useful weapon. If Kaimerans can use magic to power their swings with lead projectiles they could go through plate armor. Skilled kaimeran slingers might be able to make the projectile sound like a bullet fired out of a gun .It would probably be the weapon of the herdsmen due to its light weight and simple construction.

What ingredient in gunpowder is hard to get on Kaimere? The basic version uses potassium nitrate/saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal. Well I guess getting saltpeter from limestone caves is going to be difficult with giant ground sloths sleeping in them. Smokeless powder however would be difficult one due to manufacturing.

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +3

Saltpeter is a rare ingredient, but more than anything, the tech they have works and they haven't had the pressure to develop firearms. Their crossbows and bows are quite sophisticated and specialized, and there's a lot of cultural pride in their respective ranged weapons. With a rarity of necessary ingredients, traditional weaponry, and not really needing them, there's been no widespread development and implementation of firearms.

Just watched your video and really enjoyed it. I have a couple of questions however, specifically about firearms. The concerns about incursion and rebellion are a great justification for their suppression, but I was curious about the knowledge generally pertaining to them in Kaimere. Are cannon known to any of the assembly's contacts? I ask as I could imagine them being a great boon to managing the dangerous beasts of the known world. Secondly, I'm curious about whether the components of gunpowder are rare in the known world or if knowledge is simply suppressed? Finally, I'm curious about what mechanism is used for the firearms extant in Kaimere. The lock looked like it could be flintlock or percussion, but I was unsure. Also, do things like Wheelock firearms exist in this world or were they never brought to Kaimere?

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +1

Excellent questions! Cannons and rockets are present and have application, but generally sound cannons are preferred for beast defense. The chances of hitting a moving target are pretty low and it's extremely expensive to make for a society without a robust industry. Sound cannons scare the beasts away from the wall with a much smaller price tag, and also don't risk injury. An injured theropod is going to be much more of a threat to people because now it's too hurt to hunt it's natural prey. Much better to just make it associate people and settlements with fear rather than risk if you aren't confident of a kill shot. It's a combination of rarity of raw materials and a general suppression of knowledge. Those in power are doing just fine. A large scale introduction of firearms would likely result in a number of revolutions with a death toll that would be catastrophic, especially to a population that takes 4-5 times as long as ours does to reach maturity. Also Kaimerans are generally pretty conservative and set in their ways, again due to their long lives, so outside of revolutionary factions, few would want them on a measurable scale. The increased strength of Kaimerans means that their bows are of comparable power to a lot of firearms without the expense and sound, not to mention the prestige and pride they have in their own weapons. Some do use firearms, Teodus Nerotok being a prime example, but as I mentioned in the episode it's more a novelty than anything else. There's a range of firearms in Kaimere, mostly as museum pieces or gimmicks, with the highest number being flintlocks being a pretty popular fad amongst the Qajarith nobility in the 1700's.

Thanks for the answer, it explains a lot. Curious about one other thing though. Do air rifles exist in Kaimere? Until the late 19th century they were contemporary with gunpowder weapons and had their own attractive set of features. In the 1780s a high-capacity air rifle called the Giardoni rifle was introduced, and adopted by the Austrian military. It had a 17 shot capacity and general lack of noise as compared to gunpowder weapons. Not sure if they would be anything more than a novelty either, but could just as easily exist given their contemporary nature and the time period.

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +2

@@ecodude429 I do have air rifles listed as something to consider, but again, only as expensive novelties. @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад +2

@@liviavaleria1342 I very much appreciate it!! So in an 'honorable' war, a standing formation is accepted as a readiness to fight. Charging a formation is perfectly acceptable. Any deaths that happen in these engagements are considered par for the course. When the formation breaks, theoretically the battle is done, although some generals then command their troops to draw rubberheads to take prisoners and it's not uncommon for a number of people to be killed in these engagements. Honorable codes only carry so far in the heat of battle. Just because this is the honorable way of doing battle doesn't mean it always happens this way. The Shu for example were noted for killing a lot of their routed foes, a method which spread a lot of fear and made many surrender before a battle even occurred. The Republic regulars are also noted for their willingness to kill, although this is done with discipline and is an intentional tactic rather than for honor or in the heat of the moment.
Dinosaurs are quite difficult for Kaimerans to kill, and many rely on very loud sounds to deter threats rather than trying to directly engage, especially since an injured theropod is very likely to turn to humans for food in a way that they wouldn't have on their own.

13:07 bit confused, each Form seems to be its own style of fighting(martial art) i.e there are masters of just that Form. But you also describe the forms as stances and you show a single guard position(stance) representing each Form. Does this mean that each Form only has one stance/guard position?
If so that makes very little sense from a martial arts perspective particularly in armed martial arts. Typically you want to use a variety of stances/guard position and switch between them as needed. Using just one stance/guard position would make you very predictable and most stances can be countered by, or leave you vulnerable to certain attacks. In fact often when I am fencing I will approach with a nothing stance and switch to a proper guard position only as I get into range just so my opponent can't use my guard position against me.
But martial arts are not consistent with definitions you might be thinking of something different when you use the word stance
    Regardless I enjoyed the video

Great question! When I say 'stance', it's more a fighting style. Stance was the term for different approaches at the mixed martial arts studio I trained at a long time ago (he would say an aggressive, mobile, or defensive stance for example), and that may have simply been my instructors preference. The opening positions I illustrated were to show an example of the type of starting position you might take that would compliment that style (i.e. Earth stance you generally want to take a stationary strategic position). You can fight with a spear, sword, or axe all using water stance, and that's more reflective of the style of fighting you're using, within a spectrum of mobility and stationary positions and aggressive vs defensive. They don't want to get locked into a single guard position for the very reason you mention: avoiding predictability.

@@TalesofKaimere Yeah that makes sense, now that I think about it the word stance is often used to denote a style of fighting in mma(eg. boxing stance or muay thai stance). I guess the difference in terminology comes from the fact that guard positions are much transitory in weapons combat. Most guards/stances in fencing are only held for a few seconds and some are just the end point of strikes, so most styles are not really defined by them. So calling a style a stance is just going to confuse idiots like me :)
In mma on the other hand you stay in the stances for longer and they have a greater effect on your tactics, so the terminology makes a lot more sense.
Rewatched the section with the correct understanding and it is interesting to think about the kind of fighting each from was designed for and their parallels to history.
The Air Form reminds me of scottish broadsword, a style suited for skirmishes where you have a lot of space and might end up separated from your mates, but not so great in a formation where you can't move.
Fire is great for training soldiers/sailors as it can make them effective quickly and would be great in a siege or boarding action.
Ice and Earth seem like something a greatsword uses might practice as greatswords where often used to hold key positions.
Lighting seemed most suited to dueling or sport(like a lot of 18-19 century smallsword fencing) , most deadly when you have the time study your opponent but not ideal in the unpredictability of a battle. There is a funny story of a bunch of duels between french and english officers in the napoleonic wars, where the french take a fencing stance probing their opponents for openings. Only for the english to charge in, grab the frenchman's blade, tackle him to the floor and stab him while he was on the ground.

Since large predators make up the majority of threat to people in this world, why don't they have spike armor like Russian bear hunting armor. The spikes would hurt the inside of a megaraptor mouth and give a better chance of survival to the hunters.

    • @TalesofKaimere
      @TalesofKaimere  2 года назад

Some armor does employ spikes and blades. Useful when you’re bringing the fight to the megaraptorans but a hassle and potential danger to yourself and those you’re riding with if part of regular armors. Also they take armor off their prey so the chances of you being swallowed with the armor on is low, Althing you are, you’ll be dead anyway

I think most animal threats come in the form of large herviborous beasts, like the Hulkolgur (the sloth pictured fighting Kaimerans). So really, an armor that hurt a creature that bites is not the best.

I don't think that's a water panther. I'm not sure what it is at all, but I don't think those spikes are its ears, since it has similar structures on its nose and chin. The teeth also don't look that much like a mammal and the forelimbs seem especially robust.
Maybe it's a natural demon? Infected by viral magic that warped its appearance?

I don’t know, I think if I was going up against big animals and had a fight them at relatively close range I would definitely use in Atlanta with an iron but on the dirt and the base on the throwing arm. According to archaeological evidence, such weapons can punch straight through the skull of a bison, and we’re not talking about the cute little cuddly ones we have the day lol.(no to anyone who is reading this bison are not cute and cuddly do not touch them.)
