woah, woah woah... you really need a disclaimer at the start of videos, saying I did not work at Blizzard for 7 years, it completely changes everything
Insane how his focus and rage was completely on the person who pulled the oculus, but when he realized it was him he changed the fault to the tanks immediately despite not even mentioning them before.
He should've kicked the tanks and then see if someone else wants to join his group... He already said that he would kick the ones that are responsible for the wipe, so he should kick the tanks and see what happens. At that point, I believe the guy will be waiting another four hours before he can find tanks that are suitable for his group and are okay with joining it.
@@awakenedBananaalso why isnt he playing tank? Same like in wow. He always talks how he is the all known guy. Yeah then play tank and lead the group. Guy has a big mouth but when it gets real he hides.
@ He knows he won't be able to take the pressure of playing a tank. Maybe he played retail and mythic+ groups were flaming him. I can already imagine how frustrating it would be to have a tank like him in mythic+ As someone who really loves confrontations and arguments, I just couldn't help but laugh when he left the discord call/channel. The whole thing wasn't even heated, but he just dipped because he didn't couldn't defend himself in a way that made sense.
This one is even worse than the wow incident imo. the consequeces weren't as severe but the attitude is just ridiculous, such an obvious display of who he is.
It's absolutely worse. The reason the WoW one blew up is because it was happening in a game and event with lots of eyes. But yeah, now people are digging up stuff from the past.
This was like week 1 or 2 of alpha 2 phase 2 , wasn't that long ago. I clipped him auto attacking a mob he had targeted, when he blamed the game said he had no target, but I didn't link it or I'd be banned rofl
Of course it's worse than the WoW stupidity. He was 100% not at fault there. He was 99.9% at fault here (I assign 0.1% to the group for being clearly out of position).
@@Mr.Nubtastic He wasn't at fault for the initial pull, that was just a silly mistake expected in a guild full of newer players. He was however at fault for completely abandoning his party and failing to fulfil his role as a mage and help his guild members not lose their characters as a self proclaimed wow vet and mage player who has expressly stated that he would save his team in these situations and that's why he's specced his class the way he has. In a normal non content wow hardcore guild on that server, the mistake Ozzy made in pulling the pack would get him roasted by the guild members at most. The mistakes Pirate made and complete disregard for his guild members time would get him kicked from any normal guild, even blacklisted by sweatier guilds. In my eyes that makes Pirate very much at fault, especially if you isolate the escape. My philosophy is if you have the antidote and choose not to use it for someone dying then you're at fault.
@ lmao nice one, but seriously why defend thor over acting like this? it's not even about video games at all, he acts like a total asshole to people he's supposed to be chilling and hanging out with just saying, but you do you
He's set himself up to where he's in the wrong no matter what here. He pulled the Oculus and after watching it back argues he's in the right and did nothing wrong, but wasn't willing to give that consideration to someone else if it hadn't been him who pulled it. He looks terrible both ways. Would've gone way better if he had just gone "It was me chat. I'm kicking myself from the raid now."
Exactly. Even if he had tried to absolve himself of some of the blame like "it wouldn't have hit the Occulus if we had not been in the wrong place to begin with, but we were and it was my attack that hit it, so I'll take that L and kick myself out of the party" - that would have been reasonable. Thor has a tendency to partake engage in hyperbole when he gets emotional though, so instead of oh shit, he went into insta-defense/deflect blame. Not a great look, but nothing unusual either. Especially among gamers and ESPECIALLY MMO gamers. Who cares? He's just a streamer.
he was blaming everybody before even know if it was him who pulled the occular, that tought never crosed his mind, he always does that, blame everybady else first.
@@phandaal hes just digging himself a bigger hole, like bro just apologize and be better for it nobody gunna judge you everyone makes mistakes but, hes wayyy past that at this point
Honestly, that would have been peak cinema. "Oh, it was me? Prove it. Well shit. It was me. Fuck you, me! You're kicked from the raid!" And then kicking himself from the raid, and asking the party "Hey, guys i'm not raiding with right now, want to raid with me?" Would have gone amazingly. But he didn't do that.
"I cast Lightning Ball before the Ocular appeared" he says right after reviewing the clip where you can clearly see the Ocular chilling in the back before he casts Lightning Ball
Either way, he was guilty, whether it was there or not, because he shot a ball of lightning in a direction that mobs spawn that you're not supposed to aggro. Personally, I don't think it's too huge a deal. But he can't have it both ways. If someone else does it, they are horrible, if he does it, it was right. Sorry brother, it's one or the other.
@@GrappLr sorry but youre plain wrong there, he can have it both ways and if you disagree with that he will get you banned because he worked at blizzard for 7 years. Thats on you buddy!
1. Him saying that holds absolutetly zero value after how hes been lying for days now. 2. I dont see any mobs behind them, I see pirate using his spell which then hits a pack further back that they havent aggrod yet and then almost immedietly after the ocular appears. Granted I havent played the game so I could be misunderstanding how this works. It was easier to see in the full clip (which he copyright striked) 3. I find it incredibly suspicious that he removed his vods of this and has copyright striked any youtube upload of the clip. Why would he do that if the clip "clearly shows" that he wasnt at fault? That seams weird doesnt it? 4. Even if it actually was someone else then his whole behavior here is toxic and condescending. Repeating over and over how its ok for him to be upset about 4 hours, then refuses to help his teammates so they lose 200 hours each. Then is shocked that someone got upset.
So you know what I would have done after verifying what actually happened? "Sorry for crashing out, it was actually me who misplayed because I didnt know spawn timers". If you listen closely at 2:30, pirate was throwing out threats and saying everyone else is trash (him obviously not included). I dont know what the f is wrong with your brain that you try so hard to defend a person who has a rotten core and shows basically all the signs of narcissim at this point. T1 or even Yamato may be rotten on the surface but under pressure they swallow their ego and take accountability.
Dude spent months building up his reputation of this righteous, knowledgeable and insightful Ex-Developer who got all the answers, only to expose his fragile ego and his complete lack of self-awareness within a single week. Comedy Gold. Also GrappLr you're the man for commenting on every comment.
Yeah, I'm shocked he went down this path. He's obviously a smart dude, so it's surprising he's not self aware enough to know this wouldn't end well. Also, I've always read every single comment I've ever gotten. But sometimes, on vids like this, I also respond to most of them. But even when I don't respond, I've at least read it.
surprised it took people this long, he's always had an opinion about everything and stating it as fact...massive ego, some people are too smart for their own good
I feel vindicated after seeing through this dude within the first short I saw him in. As someone in the software industry, you quickly realize what a cesspool of degenerate human beings this space is filled with. Without a doubt some of the most insufferable human beings I’ve ever had the displeasure of speaking to. Now combine that with content creator… yikes I knew my instincts were correct.
@@GrappLr " He's obviously a smart dude" is he though? I think he's successfully built an image of himself being a smart dude. You know what this is starting to remind me of (minus the abusing women piece obviously)- the Swimstrim situation. Where we had some guy who everyone thought was a genius and really bright and good at what he does, but then an event happened and curtain got pulled back and turns out they are just a giant narcissist who doesn't know shit.
@@crackawhat1 I don't like the guy but he did fuck all wrong here. Someone made a shit pull and the raid leader called "Run" so he followed instructions, blew his blink, and ran. End of discussion.
Craziest part is, 3 days ago, when I first reacted to him, as I loaded up the vid on stream, I was almost sure I'd be on Thor's side, because what I'd seen from him up until that point (albeit, very little, just shorts), I thought he was a dude with a great head on his shoulders.
I always liked Thor. But the more clips I see the more I understand the hate. It's a shyt situation with too much evidence of that personality in the past.
@@GrappLr A lot of the clips from this week that were on LSF have been cut down to 5 seconds by either him or his mod team. This means that the context of whatever criticism the post was about is no longer there. Luckily a lot of the clips have mirrors so it's obvious what's going on.
His entire brand is built on him being holier than thou super knowledgeable basically a genius. When the curtain gets pulled back a bit and people are able to see reality he can't take it and just goes into full defense mode.
@@GrappLr Thats true but I also think, especially when it comes to social media like youtube shorts for example, just being very good at presenting yourself as extremely smart and knowledgeable is enough to convince most people.
Well he is knowledgeable just take anything outside of his field with care. He has made many mistakes when talking about businesses and finances and Healthcare
Pirate a Ego maniac, dude literaly a grown up and doesnt even know when he is wrong, also to point he stated on wow situation the guild is filled with toxic people, 2 months earlier he was harrsing and bullying lacari for him being a noob for 2 hours straight, i mean this dude needs to stop, no wonder his AoC guild is losing players and some even quitting on their own after seen crap like that.
Man I felt so bad for lacari in that clip that was such a "mean girls" way of bullying too. Like bullying while trying to make it sound like he was just saying thing without trying to hurt anyone's feeling, being an asshole while still trying to retain his reputation of righteous good person.
I honestly feel bad for whoever couldn't use this as a reason to escape his echo chamber. Apparently this behavior is normal for him (people really dig up some gems of his past), but this is the first time he had someone actually try to ego check him that wasn't a pussy who backs down in front of a bigger creator. Really gotta give credit to the league dude here.
Yeah, this whole thing for sure is spiraling in a weird direction. I assume it'll die down soon, but as someone who used to watch his shorts a lot, it is surprising.
@@GrappLr If you go look at the video of why he quit playing EVE (and is super interested in Ashes) he tells on himself a great deal. He bugged the devs so much that they despised him.
@@jimdandytheboss You should rewatch the EVE video... I'm pretty sure he gave a clear reason why he bugged the devs. Also side note, I love how pirates hole MO was telling people to fact check things and don't believe everything you see yet most of this drama is coming from "he said this so it must be true".
@@humly3737 His claim was over a bug that he 'discovered' and was then fixed after he stopped playing, mentioning him when it was fixed. The reality is that he was a cry baby accusing the devs of being against him, as was popular at the time after a rash of incidents, like the server reset that 'saved' TEST. It's not like he doesn't have a history of this behavior going back to ~2008 and Second Life, but that requires delving deep into some rabbit holes that most don't want to do.
its too funny that people really think they can get away with it, while all of their actions are being recorded 😄 its like diving in football/soccer, when there are one bazillion cameras in the stadium and we have a video assistant referee.
I genuinely don't think even him owning up would help at this point. Maybe for some people... But for me personally, between him platforming Asmongold and all of the older clips where he's talking down to people and lecturing them while simultaneously cosplaying as "wholesome motivation bro" it just gives me the fuckin ick. I know a few other friends of mine and I are sickened by the whole thing and at this point even if he said "my bad" we would assume he's just doing it to get back in people's good graces, and not because he's actually sorry.
This is the fastest hero to zero I've ever seen. I feel sorry for the people he employs. There are mods and other staff that rely on him for thier livelyhood and his ego is going to cost them their jobs when his community leaves him and his business folds.
He'll keep making massive money. He gets like 20k viewers, no way he gets to the point where he's not still raking in the cash. He makes millions a year.
Thor seems like a guy who never caught a whooping for talking too much smack IRL. It happens to most well-adjusted dudes when they're in their teens or 20s, and they go on to be mostly chill and respectful people. You see it a lot in people who grew up exclusively on the internet and were never in social situations much.
Wow, Thors behavior is exactly like a social strategy I read in a book called "The Elephant in the Brain": Most people are bad at lying. However deceiving oneself into believing something does not require lying. Thor might actually believe what he says because he conditioned his brain for selective focus on some aspects of his perception. Then calling out the wrong behavior and claiming "this is not on me" further convinces him to believe that reality.
The worst part, is the run that they did before the infamous run he was the reason they had to reset and go out of DM. So no he was basically the cause of both. lol
His group had to run in a DM attempt before the infamous one and he was the one who pulled too. They survived because they worked together. He griefed them the second time.
@@mat99rich whats even worse than that, is that he said THEY almost got them killed in the previous DM run, so he did not trust them to salvage that pull. All while he was the reason lmao
I saw another video from Ashes of Creation where he got mad about mob tags so he tried to go to war with the smaller guild proclaiming his guild would wipe them off the server and these dudes proceeded to just steamroll Pirate and his mob of noobs. Pure cinema *chef's kiss*.
Thor of course granted it, because after all, he used to work at Blizzard, and is a Game Dev, so he knows that long hours require a good rest at the end of the week.
@ Textbook example of creating an echo chamber for himself, I don't know what would animate him to steer back but I hope that he will. Would be sad to see him devolve this way.
There's also a discussion on reddit on how he manages to complete puzzle games so quickly without looking at the chat and turned off TTS. It's absolute cinema. He just grabs his phone and googles it saying how he doesn't look at the chat at the same time, wow. He then continues to pretend he was doing something with his hands on camera and magically comes up with the right answer.
I have no idea. I did find it very impressive at how fast he finished Outer Wilds. I streamed all of Outer Wilds blind, and it took me like double the time it took Thor. If it's true that he's cheating on puzzle games, that would be pretty crazy. But I haven't seen any proof of this, so until I do, I'll assume he doesn't and is just good at puzzles. Although if it's true, another possibility would be that he actually watches/reads about the game/puzzles beforehand, and maybe puts notes on his phone. Lots of content creators will "prewatch" react content, write down notes, watch other people's reactions, so that when they do react, they appear very smart, since they have a lot to say. Like this video, I did pre-watch it, but I never pretended it's a first reaction.
@ You can have a look at it too if you want. The post is on LSF, it's called "Did PirateSoftware fake his Animal Well playthrough?". Here are a few examples from his Outer Wilds: 4:03:10 - begins puzzle and doesn't make any progress. 4:12:30 - grabs his phone and looks at it for awhile. 4:14:30 - announces "I'm going back there, I wanna solve that." (lol) 8:07:06 - Gets stuck at tower 8:20:33 - Starts looking at phone 8:22:33 - Has an epiphany I haven't watched the whole playthrough and I've only looked into these two examples so I might be wrong here but it seems to me he's genuinely trying to solve the puzzle before he reaches for the phone. After he's done googling he "thinks" for a bit and comes up with a "stupid" idea that is right ofc.
@@GrappLr Bro I was pretty baffled how he completed the outer wilds so fast and cut out half of the story as well. I was thinking he has to be looking stuff up but at the same time I was like. Damn this dude is a legit genius.
I've been in the "didn't like the guy from the start" camp because his behaviours matched a couple of pretty unpleasant people i know irl. There's that meme about "finding out a person you dislike personally is annoying/wrong" and that's pretty close to what I'm feeling.
It's hard to describe, but I've experienced people who always expect and want others to fail and sort of lead them down that direction. Nothing is ever their fault and they know everything, they prod others to validate and compliment them. Gaslighting whenever a crack in the armor shows so that you're crazy for simply noticing the truth that we are all imperfect. Mistakes don't matter, your attitude really does.
If he said "Ok, it was me. My mistake. Rewatching it, I still think casting the spell was the right call at the time, but I went overboard on my reaction and I'm sorry.", everything would have been fine. But no. He decided to go in a direction I didn't even think was possible. And to be clear, I'm not saying casting the spell was the right call, I don't know at all, I do not even know the game.
@@GrappLr No, it's not his middle name. He literally just pretends it is. Because when he says his name is Jason "Thor" Halls, you can't see the quotations.
The planet will explode if he takes accountability, if he says "Yo guys my bad, bit of a missplay there" he will collapse mentally. The thing that makes it even worse is how overly critical he is to everyone around him, its an obvious mistake even if someone else did it, why try to make that person feel as bad as possible. He is a narcissistic person and it is easy to tell. The other guy says "oh no WE pulled", but he always said "one of YOU". He always directly puts the blame on others, puts himself out of it. If you are playing a team game there is no "YOU", there is only a "WE" when someone goes wrong without knowing what went wrong. This is the biggest thing the whole "it's just a game and he made a mistake what's the big deal" crowd doesn't understand. It's literally his attitude.. listen to how shitty he treats people that are doing things "wrong" and when it's him he dodges the blame entirely. @GrappLr A TLDR; Stop Killing Games is an EU Citizen Initiative that was launched about 6 months ago. Thor was very harsh in his commentary on the Initiative, even though it was pointed out to him that he was misunderstanding multiple aspects of it. Scott Ross (from the Initiative) messaged Thor, offering him a conversation to clear things up. Instead of being a grown-up, Thor doubled down, still repeating the same misunderstandings and also calling Scott a piece of shit. All in all, I'm not surprised he's acting like he thinks he's right. He did the same thing back then, that's why this situation felt so similar to me. Cheers
I met Pirate Software (Jason Hall) at Blizzard during Diablo 3 development when he was a Penetration Tester working for Kelly Chun. Due to creation of the Auction House Anti-Fraud Strike Team, I was surprised with a sudden desk move and Jason Hall was taking over my desk... He started throwing all of my stuff on the floor and then boldly yelled for everyone to hear "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM." He was a total jerk because his dad was an executive and got him the job.... The irony is I ALSO met his father, legendary Cinematics Director Joeyray Hall... whom was an even bigger donkey! At an event to mingle new employees with seniors from around the company, his father asked what my career goals were, and when I said "to work here for a long time so I can make manager one day". Joeyray started screaming at me that only horrible people want to BE managers. He started stomping on the floor violently. Mark Moser stepped in to berate Joeyray for harassing a new employee simply responding to his question. Bad human beings.
I was soooo ready for the plot twist to be "PirateSoft was the one who did it". Still hit just as hard! But then the "I'm not at fault there" after all the shit he talked... Oh, what a gigachad.
Reminder that he mass banned people who, very politely, disagreed with him in his "stop killing games" videos so the few agreeing comments were forced up. Comments with hundreds or even thousands of upvotes, all shadow banned. I blocked his channel after that, I don't want to support that kind of behavior.
His ego showing him being unable to admit when hes wrong or give a simple sorry really sucks to see, Hes a toxic gamer with a silver tongue But outside of multiplayer games themselves, atleast for now he still does a lot of good and cool things Really hope he loses some ego though, never fun to see
Yeah, I feel like it was maybe a mistake for him to play multiplayer games, his online persona does extremely well for single player titles, when he isn't forced to play in a team.
I would have said "you know what?!?! we will ALL wait and have you review the VOD, you tell us who pulled it. go ahead. and make sure you show us as well"
What bugs me is it doesn't explain why he needs to have a bass booster maxxed out on his mic. I work in installing musical equipments in conventions and I just know someone's using a bass boost when I hear one. That's SO not his real voice. 😅
@GrappLr Yes. Combination of bass boosting + proximity effect. One of The Federation guys posted a video in response to the "drama." In it, there is an old clip of Thor being interviewed and that's his real voice.
wouldnt be to sure about this. I remember a talk here on YT on wich he casualy told that his voice changed just a few years ago (which is realy rare) and even joked about his former voice. Further more.... he visits RL Events. I bet: It bugs you because you know how difficuilt a lie like that is to cover, in the long run nearly impossible. The reason for it would be obvious concidring his job... a deep voice helps a lot. Further more: Your source ais a random guy from the internet
Same reason as his gaming behavior, he has a huge ego. All those years he spent as a weasely little nerd getting made fun of for his textbook nerd voice has left him with a complex
I do think that his quick rise to fame really went to his head. He does not know humility. He is above everyone and nobody can tell him otherwise. Its too late now.
He has a clip today where he talks about this. He said he was already frustrated from dying a lot that day. And he’s only human 🤣 he’s still just making excuses and will refuse to apologize. How embarrassing to act this way in front of so many people.
It's crazy because that's the leniency I (and many others who reacted to the WoW drama) gave him early on. "He's only human, he was panicked, he got overly defensive.. I'm sure tomorrow he'll realize his mistakes, change his tone, and move on".. 4 days later and he had quadrupled down on it
His "Stop Killing Games" drama already proved to me this man is disingenuous. He pretended the EU initiative was accidentally targetting multiplayer games and would require them to host servers forever, when SKG is explicitly against this. We want multiplayer games to work once servers are shut down, not for them to be supported for eternity. Pirate knew this. His chat told him. The SKG organiser told him (and offered to talk to him, Pirate said no and then insulted him heaps). He deleted these VODs and made his misinfo video anyway and considerably hurt a grassroots consumer advocacy movement.
Man all those tikotk clips you see of Thor would make him seem to level headed, turns out you put this dude in an MMO and he can't take accountability for anything and just berates the others he's playing with, wild.
xQc has the right takes on this guy, he have no humor bones in him because his whole persona is the advice/knowledge guy with authority. Normal person can laugh it off, admit mistake, and move on.
Maybe. What shocked me was when I wiped his raid as a 2 man in Ashes of Creation. I had full BiS gear, as the person with me, and we 2v40d them. I went to see his reaction to that, and it was deadpan, nothing. Just calmly saw it happen, and moved on, zero reaction. Found it quite boring, but more than that, found it VERY bizzare. If I was on the receiving end, I'd be shocked, impressed, etc.
This is a pattern of behavior. The exact same shit happened when he was criticized for his bad take on that EU petition and he proceeded to double down like he did here. He's just a manchild
He had a pretty logical take on that horrible EU stuff. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean he's NEVER right though... it's important to remember that
@@boogalooter7280Yeah the petition does have flaws, but his approach to the situation is the same, and then he refuses to talk to the author of that petition to get out of the water with dry feet. Even then it seemed a little weird to me like what's the deal, to talk and find common ground, the author was willing to change the petition. But Pirate refuses again and backs down by banning everyone who disagrees with him in chat. It all makes sense now, the dude can't debate live and take someone else's opinion and work with it.
What I notice that when mob got pulled , pirate turn the video around and I believe he actually knew he pulled the mob. He just goes on blaming other to avoid his faulty. He's a freaking narcissistic.
Making games is great. And I still think Thor gives a ton of great advice. I was pretty shocked about all this a few days ago. But just because of these last few days, that doesn't mean that any of the advice he gave you previously is bad.
Keep making games if that's what you want. Your drive to make games has nothing to do with this guy's ego. His passion for game development is contagious and it's also good to recognize where he falls short
All of his advice comes across as condescending, as though he's looking down on his audience and 'teaching' them because he views himself as a know-it-all. He seems to believe he’s so superior that sharing his knowledge is an act of generosity we should revere. His behavior reflects an inflated ego.
Also I've seen some snippets of the code he writes and it's very...newbie mistakes. So that should tell you a lot. But that's pretty typical nowadays with the over saturated amount of game developers. Either way -- just keep making stuff and have fun doing so
"Sounds like you want to talk to me about it in the unban request"😂 man that's just so witty and funny but what's not funny is that he has a narcissism problem.
fun fact: I've been using youtube since 2006 and my first comment that got deleted was on a PirateSoftware's short where I criticized his view on a subject...
In wow, he didn't go back out of spite. He says it himself two times. Once in his written post and the other in a clip. In the clip he says they flamed him, he ran because it was called and when there was an opportunity to go back he "didn't want to".
it's not just previous video evidence, every single day post the Dire Maul incident he's still doubling down and literally BANNING anyone who calls out his ego, the bro is living on another planet of ego
People who fell for his persona are most probably naive adults or children. It was obvious fornthe rest of us from the beginning of his Besserwisser shorts
@@bobby4tw yeh I played ashes phase 1 alpha and clicked to his true side on about the third weekend, him and his crew got pushed out from their farm spot in Ursine Caves(or whatever the bear cave is called)by some pvp'ers and he packed a pissy little tantrum when someone killed him when he was filling out a bug report. Told his whole stream and guild that those players and their guild was now KoS and to be griefed at all costs. Dude is a dickhead
With the WoW wipe, I was able to empathize with Pirate. If I saw my group making the same mistakes they were, I wouldn't respond to anyone telling me I need to accept group accountability. With this scenario, it seems pretty plain to see that personal responsibility is not part of his social tool kit at all.
But would you watch you group die? Of course you had no blame for pulling the extra packs, but what about giving up on your group and leaving them to die? When I'm on a group with my guildies and friends I drain myself trying to help my groups and I expect everyone also tries their best, this is what I expect from my Gaming community not just the guilda I'm in or my friends.
@assyralofthemoon4367 would I watch them die? No. But I'm not saying Thor was correct either. I'm a bit arrogant myself. I see things practically before seeing things morally by default. Practically, that situation was unsalvagable. Practically, he decided not to waste his own resources(mana gem, robe cooldown) and didn't consider that player time and investment is also a resource that should be protected. Therefore, practically and morally, Thor had an obligation to at least try. He didn't try, and that lost him is credibility, respect, and friendships.
Never liked PirateSoftware, whenever I first saw him pop up I could immediately tell yeaaaah this is the kind of man who pretends to be nice, will be passive aggressive while disguising his words as advise and will never take accountability. Guess my senses were right lol
@@GrappLr I liked him for the image he created in his shorts. But in the WoW drama I saw comments mentioning Maldavius Figtree and the farms, so I found the kiwi farms thread on him... and oh boy... what a ride that one has been... Thor was just a mask, his name is Maldy.
Thor has a major case of the Im-very-smarts, and while he's happy to dish out criticism to others for their mistakes, his ego cannot accept it being done to him. If it were anyone else in this situation, Thor would say of the threats something along the lines of "It's wrong but what did you expect - the interent is going to internet and you're always going to get a small subset of people who take any chance to be vile. Acknowledge your mistakes and people won't have the excuse."
Oof, man, that's rough. You know, watching online the WoW situation my opinion was that yeah, he could have played better, but that ultimately everyone made mistakes and people dying wasn't on him. And that yes, he reacted defensively instead of owning up to it because he was promptly attacked by that irksome Yamato guy. He should have owned up to those facts by now, and i was already thinking that failing to do so meant there had to be some stubborness or ego issues going on that he might want to figure out. But after watching this clip...yeah...i dunno. Goes full lecture high and mighty mode when under the impression someone else made a mistake, only to completely downplay that mistake when it's proven he's the one who did it, and then instantly going on attack when faced with criticism. Not a good look.
He could have just blamed it on the draw distance being shorter than the range of ball lightning. He could have blamed it on the game. Instead, he targeted a person behind a screen. No one is infallible, but leading your words and actions in such a way to suggest to others that you are is only going to make Thor crash just as hard as he rose to the status he has now. That's toxic guild leader behavior that makes people leave guilds.
it has been going on for years.. he's had to change his name so many times because he gets run off for being an insufferable douche.. look up Maldavius Figtree.
Not a voice changer he jut "deep talks" and boosts bass on his mic. Note his real voice is much higher than his deep talking. Its the same thing a lot of younger boys do to sound older.
Makes me start to question everything How much of Thor is actually others peoples work, but he just take all the credit for everything cuz it seems his ego is more important than anyone else
His 20 year job as a "Cybersecurity Expert for the Government"? It's completely unverifiable. He claims he got 3 black badges while working there, which is insane because very few people even earn 1 or 2. At this point, I would not be surprised if he was misrepresenting the position he actually had there, or if he was lying about that job completely. His code quality is not great. Definitely not what you'd expect from someone who says he's been a coder as long as he has. And his game is taking so long because he barely spends any time actually coding it. He streams games like 99% of the time on his channel
@@KarazolaX The badges were "earned" as part of a team for what is effectively a complex puzzle/scavenger hunt. I also love how he throws his Amazon Games experience around like he did anything there. He was there for 8 months, and most new hires have a 3 month onboarding phase where you just learn the ins and outs of working for Amazon. At the speed Amazon moves internally, nothing of note gets done in 5 months.
Obligatory: I've never worked at Blizzard, nor am I a Game Dev, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
Yeah but did you know he worked at Blizzard for 7 years tho? /s
Also, don't forget: Have you been in the gaming industry for 20 years? /s
woah, woah woah... you really need a disclaimer at the start of videos, saying I did not work at Blizzard for 7 years, it completely changes everything
Maybe not, but if you say you've played mage for a long time, I'll allow it.
@ cheers
Insane how his focus and rage was completely on the person who pulled the oculus, but when he realized it was him he changed the fault to the tanks immediately despite not even mentioning them before.
90% sure he’s a narcissist, he can’t fathom that he can be wrong. He automatically switches to the next logical culprit

As someone who really loves confrontations and arguments, I just couldn't help but laugh when he left the discord call/channel.

Yup.

You're kicked from the raid!" And then kicking himself from the raid, and asking the party "Hey, guys i'm not raiding with right now, want to raid with me?"
Would have gone amazingly. But he didn't do that.
"I cast Lightning Ball before the Ocular appeared"
he says right after reviewing the clip where you can clearly see the Ocular chilling in the back before he casts Lightning Ball
Either way, he was guilty, whether it was there or not, because he shot a ball of lightning in a direction that mobs spawn that you're not supposed to aggro.

2. I dont see any mobs behind them, I see pirate using his spell which then hits a pack further back that they havent aggrod yet and then almost immedietly after the ocular appears. Granted I havent played the game so I could be misunderstanding how this works. It was easier to see in the full clip (which he copyright striked)

It happens to most well-adjusted dudes when they're in their teens or 20s, and they go on to be mostly chill and respectful people. You see it a lot in people who grew up exclusively on the internet and were never in social situations much.
Wow, Thors behavior is exactly like a social strategy I read in a book called "The Elephant in the Brain":
Most people are bad at lying. However deceiving oneself into believing something does not require lying. Thor might actually believe what he says because he conditioned his brain for selective focus on some aspects of his perception. Then calling out the wrong behavior and claiming "this is not on me" further convinces him to believe that reality.
Interesting take. I could see that.
He is an interesting subject when it comes to his constant self-reporting and projection.

What's crazy is how he tells on himself so hard here. It's so much easier to see and understand, even without playing the game.
The worst part, is the run that they did before the infamous run he was the reason they had to reset and go out of DM. So no he was basically the cause of both. lol
His group had to run in a DM attempt before the infamous one and he was the one who pulled too. They survived because they worked together. He griefed them the second time.

Here are a few examples from his Outer Wilds:
4:03:10 - begins puzzle and doesn't make any progress.
4:12:30 - grabs his phone and looks at it for awhile.
4:14:30 - announces "I'm going back there, I wanna solve that." (lol)
8:07:06 - Gets stuck at tower
8:20:33 - Starts looking at phone
8:22:33 - Has an epiphany
I haven't watched the whole playthrough and I've only looked into these two examples so I might be wrong here but it seems to me he's genuinely trying to solve the puzzle before he reaches for the phone. After he's done googling he "thinks" for a bit and comes up with a "stupid" idea that is right ofc.

@GrappLr A TLDR;
Stop Killing Games is an EU Citizen Initiative that was launched about 6 months ago.

I was looking for this comment!
Is this a fact?
Notice how when Thor had the tantrum moment and said he'd kick em from the raid his deep voice just went away
I do hear that

He has a clip today where he talks about this. He said he was already frustrated from dying a lot that day. And he’s only human 🤣 he’s still just making excuses and will refuse to apologize. How embarrassing to act this way in front of so many people.
Yeah, it's just weird.
It's crazy because that's the leniency I (and many others who reacted to the WoW drama) gave him early on. "He's only human, he was panicked, he got overly defensive.. I'm sure tomorrow he'll realize his mistakes, change his tone, and move on".. 4 days later and he had quadrupled down on it
My gut told me he was slimey so I have stayed away from him. Glad I did.
It truly baffles my mind how people still watch him and circlejerk his ego. It's borderline insanity.
I missed that drama
this right here is the all point, he cant admit shit and also go and talk down to everyone, fair that nobody want to have anything with him
Man all those tikotk clips you see of Thor would make him seem to level headed, turns out you put this dude in an MMO and he can't take accountability for anything and just berates the others he's playing with, wild.

With the WoW wipe, I was able to empathize with Pirate. If I saw my group making the same mistakes they were, I wouldn't respond to anyone telling me I need to accept group accountability. That’s what it looks like
But would you watch you group die?

Thor has a major case of the Im-very-smarts, and while he's happy to dish out criticism to others for their mistakes, his ego cannot accept it being done to him.

Not just downplay, but instead say "I did the right thing". Complete 180.
