Gotta get Shane to the Appalachians, even if it is just visit!
I have lived up and down the Blue Ridges of NC,or at the slopes of them for most or my life. I have lived close to many trail heads on the A.T over the years as well.
I feel if it was done correctly and with folks who also want to be apart of it with him, they could figure out a way to at least help him hike a section of it.
I met a late 70 something years old, half blind man one time during a section. He was doing truly lightweight and was doing sections at a time. He was almost done with the A.T when I met him on the trail and he used his actual name, instead of a trail name.

18:46 Technically the Appalachian trail start in Quebec because recently the International Appalachian trail was made offical in 2022 where it extends from Maine through New Brunswick up into East Quebec and the Gaspe (theres an accent there) Peninsula. This part of the trail has also been called "Canada's Appalachian trail" and some hikers do what's considered the "extreme Appalachian trail" where they go from the Gaspe Peninsula all the way to Georgia.

We have gopher snakes on our property and once, a nice-sized snake managed to wrap itself around the belly of our inquisitive cat. Poor cat totally freaked out. The hubs had to unwind the snake from the cat while trying to not get scratched or bit. It was the funniest thing to watch. Thanks for reminding me of that story. As for the Horoscopes, make sure to check the Chinese Zodiac as well. For me and my honey it doesn't bode well. I am a dog and he is a dragon. Supposedly, we are NOT suited for each other. We are waiting for that incompatibility to manifest - it's been almost 50 years.....but ya' never know.

Yeah you’re sun sign is not all that astrology is. You actually have every sign somewhere in your chart. You’re big 3 are more important than just your sun sign (sun, moon, rising). If you don’t resonate with your sun sign much it’s probably because you have a stellium in your chart that’s more important or your rising sign is more accurate. Hannah I recommend looking up your black moon lilith sign as well, i’m sure you’ll find it interesting- - although you may get your feelings hurt 🥹. Love you guys !! 🫶🏽

My son hiked the AT 1 week after he graduated from high school. It was so much more challenging than I ever imagined. I hiked to McAfee Knob with him. Also, I've done trail magic several times. Trail angels set up at trailheads to provide food or cold drinks to hikers. It's one of the most incredible experiences & I plan to continue to do it every year. There's something very moving about providing something simple & unexpected to a stranger who has stripped themselves down to only the absolute essentials & embarked on a trip that is likely the most physically & mentally difficult thing they've ever done. I love it. You could be a trail angel too!!!

My boyfriend and I hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2020, during covid. It was a once in a lifetime experience not only because the trail is amazing, but because that year we got to share it with very few people and form special bonds with those we met. Something my boyfriend has talked about a lot since the trail is making it more accessible to people who can't physically walk the whole trail.

OMG! As soon you said "Appalachian Trail" I immediately jumped onto YT to leave a comment to say you HAVE to watch 'A Walk In The Woods' (it's one of my favourite movies) and then you mentioned the book that the movie is based on! 😅 Srsly though, if you are loving the book then I think you will love the movie too. It's so good. And it's one of those movies that stays with you afterwards too. Like, the first time you watch it you think "eh, that was ok". And then you realize that you really want to watch it again. So you do. And then you like it a bit more. And then you watch it again six months later and you like it a bit more. Until it becomes a favourite that goes into rotation whenever you need some comfort viewing. The soundtrack is awesome, the views of the trail are gorgeous and the acting is superb. And, yep, I too wanted to hike the trail after watching it LOL In fact, hearing you talk about the book has just made me go buy it on Audible! Can't wait to read it now 😊 Speaking of which... Shane, I have only been able to find your first book (LAMN) on Audible. I have been looking for the other two (Not So Different & SAMGIMN) in audio form for a while now but haven't been successful so far. Do you know if they are even available in an audio format? I might need to reach out to the publisher to find out 🤔 Hopefully the new book you and Hannah are releasing next year will eventually be available in audio format too as many people (myself included) rely on audio in order to engage with books.

What you read were Sun Sing horoscopes. But it's actually a lot more than that, it's a whole chart that has all the plantes, except earth, including the sun, as well as other angles and points in the sky and asteroids. Astrology is a Millenia old methodology to analyse time based on the movement of the planets in the solar system and their relationship to each other (in which degrees they are to each other). Through the analysis of movement and what's happened on earth during the movement, patterns have been recognized and continue to, its therefore a study that continues to progess as events on earth progress. Pop Sun Sign astrology is incredibly reductive because the Sun only rules the personality. Our emotional and physical needs for example are ruled by the moon, other planets rule other things. It would be cool to have your birth charts read on the podcast, for example by Yakari Gabriel or Jessica Lanyadoo, they are really cool Astrologers! The birth chart is a snapshot of the planet the moment in time and place you were born. Based on the progression of the planets and how that interacts with your chart, Astrologers could read your whole life. Good Astrologers consider that we have free will too and can therefore avoid or fulfill our potential. But even the consequences of that are in the chart.

Soooo, I'm not fully into astrology, but I do know a couple things. Right now, you're both looking at your sun signs which is not the full picture of astrology. There are categories in your natal chart. The natal chart is based on the date, time, location you were born and each category called a "House". Each category you have a zodiac sign that is believed to determine how you are towards that category. I can't remember them all but I think there's 12 and some examples of the houses are relationships, work, money, learning, etc.

The great Minnesota get together. The fair is definitely more crowded on the weekends. My daughter went 5 times this year.

So I knew 2 kids who used WCs as kids and neither had ever been to a sleepover due to logistics. Only one of them had been to camp again due to logistics. One I met at camp and the other one I knew from HS. I asked the one I met at camp "is that why this person is with u all the time as a sister to help u in and out of bed etc" and they told me "oh they're not my sibling or cousin they;re a friend from school that my parents thought would be better doing the extra logistics (the friend had done it before on school overnight trips) then some random counselor etc"

There are sites you can plug in your birthday and time of birth, and city born in. Your sign is based on those factors. Where the planets were the moment you were born.

You can always get a fire pit and put it in your back yard. Then, cook your baked beans over that. You could even make some s'mores and have a nice campfire experience. Without having to sleep outside or run from bears. :)

On the point of astrology: It's extremely accurate if you get into with your Birthcharts, but that means knowing almost the exact minute of your birth.
Astrology is so old and potent in cultural context almost every major religion the world has ever known (including modern religions) have absorbed parts of it.
The stuff you get with daily horoscopes is mostly bunk tho. A Natal Chart is like a roadmap. It shows you were you might be weak or bad habits you might fall into and also highlights your potential strengths. None of this is set in stone. It's up to you to use it. Most people use it as an excuse instead of a road map.
