Tbh pre-combat damage is a counter to flat dr since they both add and subtract fix damage

It’s gonna be pre combat heal or something. Although that might kill aoe specials if they ever do that. Maybe it can heal you back up, but any effects that required the hp threshold can still be disabled since at start of combat it was lower.
Just wait until Breath Of Life 4 to release that reduces at start of combat damage by 50% (coping)
Pre combat damage is on the same level of laziness as their laziness to give staff units refines
I am still flabbergasted by the Phina/Young Marth situation where they found a way to only give Marth the refine because heaven forbid a dancer gets a refine lmao

AOE already exists so pre-damage feels redundant and lower effort for so much power
Yeah, but aoe requires you to set it up beforehand and can be countered by pulse smoke, pulse tie (unless you pre-charge it every turn) or aoe dr. With pre combat damage, there is no counter right now, so eat that free 7-14 dmg :). But honestly, expect a counter later this year. We thought there was no way to counter grand strategy, yet they created a specific effect that counters it.

This pre combat damage should have been damage that's outside of combat. En Garde should have already been the counter to this. Vantage should have been at least **A** counter to this to make them run Hardy Bearing for it.

IMO Burn (Pre Combat) Damage is kind of a necessary evil rn because of E!Ike.
My AR-D team consists of all OS/Burn A Slot users/Triandra and Fallen Julia just to make sure Ike cannot do anything.
