- We're back with another track car build! This time round, we’ve teamed up with Tegiwa Dealer and good friend of ours, Rob Baker, owner of Area Motorsport, to document his MK7 Volkswagen Golf GTI track build!
Following on from Part 1, Area got straight to work installing a host of chassis and upgrade parts, in preparation for the Golfs first shakedown at Donington Park! Rob gives us a run down on all the parts installed and how the car performed throughout the day.
If you’ve not seen what we’ve been up to so far, then check out Part 1 here: • Volkswagen Golf GTI MK...
Next up in this build series, we’ll be heading back to Area Motorsport as the chaps fit the HPA Motorsports parts in a bid to maximise engine performance and turn up the power as well as a bunch of cooling solutions from RacingLine Performance!

Great car, great modifications. Great people. Would highly recommend area Motorsport.
Awesome video - can't wait to see it with the HPA parts fitted!
Another great video with data and facts. Keep the good contact Rob 👍
Really interesting looking forward to the next vid
Very good video I enjoyed that. I do trackdays so appreciated the time you all took to show and discuss your data analysis. I don't have a golf but I'd be very happy if I did.
Epic car! Best colour too 😍
wow so much useful information great video! looking forward getting a mk6 gti
Awesome vid and car
Nice video and data. I was about to buy a Mk7 for track use but I end up buying a Gti Mk4 1.8t dedicated track car.
super content! please keep us updated with a new episode! what happened to the car, what track days it participated in, what service was done. just one more episode where you tell us the evolution of the car 😀

Amazing video 👌🏁
Thanks! Be sure to check out part 3 over on the channel!
I thought about going spherical bushing on my MkV , but it would completely negate it as a DD. The Poly bushings at 90 is the stiffness i like and since the roads are really nice here in N. Ca I can deal with the mildly increased noise. I tried Firestones and had good results. Sidewall a bit soft but great dry grip.
Awesome GTI !
How about diff settings ?
Equipped with actory e-diff or non OEM LSD (Quaife or Wavetrack) ?
What's your thoughts on getting a wavetrac lsd for the gti..
Keep up the great content 👏 👌 👍 🙌
Hi guys, which front lip you have mounted. It looks like the one from the GTI Clubsport.
A great mini series, nice information etc, what pressures were you running in the Michelins?
Are you using LSD Wavetrack differential lock or similar?
What is the covers on the fog lights called and what brand?
Where can I get those fog light flares/splitter for the front bumper?
What offset wheels are you using?
Does this have a dsg map or just an engine map?
i’m doing a lot of track days and autox with my gti (about 2 a month) and i was wondering if the competition ysr coilovers would be the right choice? The 16k F and 14k R seem really stiff and my tracks are kinda bumpy would you still recommend them?
If your going to be using it as a daily as well as track I'd suggest starting at the softer end of the scale and stick with Dynamic Pro Sports still - at least then you can afford to go 2kg higher as well as even it out with the adjustable dampening.
Hope that answers your question
What oil u used on track ?
Question guys, what seat brackets are those?. I need something like that. It’s low profile
Hi, they're E46 M3 seat brackets. However, we do sell Cobra brackets specifically for this seat - www.tegiwaeuro.com/cobra-nogaro-low-seat-side-mount.html?fbclid=IwAR2PKduC3hU1X1Sb7ivrj9PSTHrWFEwe77iK8GblLDXtAv24g2JEhYguasI
👌🔥🔥
Out of interest is a baffled sump not really necessary on these on track or they fairly well sorted from stock?
Baffle sump isn’t needed
What DSG gearbox you use on the racecars?
Hi, they use a Golf R gearbox.
What is the brand of the wheels studs again? And where can I buy them
Hi, they're the Apex wheel stud conversion kit.
Subscribed for this series! Very interesting…. How long are the races for the endurance car?
Races are 2 or 3 hours.
@@areamotorsport would it make it for a 6 hours race?
Andreas Syrigos yes for sure.
@@areamotorsport could it make more than 6 hours?
hey quick question, whats the weds sport wheel spec? width et size? thanks
Hi, it's running on 18×8.5 WedsSport TC105X. You can read more about the build on our blog - www.tegiwaimports.com/blog/?p=5521
@@tegiwa thank you!
What size are you running on the ps4
We had 18×8.5 WedsSport TC105X fitted with 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4.
Wait, you only had ps4 on this? Not even ps4s? and you call it a track car?
What are the wheel and tyre specs?
Wedsport & PS4 specs
@@MrGsxr888 Correct!
I don't suppose you could comment on the damping quality of those coilovers? I ask because they're a fairly inexpensive option amongst a selection of fairly expensive aftermarket parts. Generally I like to stick with name brands I'm familiar with but if you think these offer solid performance I may give them a look as the inclusion of camber plates makes them a good value, I'd just rather not buy into something with sub-par damping characteristics.
Yellow Speed Racing is a highly reputable brand, used in the Civic Cup and Tegiwa Type R Trophy Championship. They're race/road proven coilovers that are designed and developed for all motoring enthusiasts that want excellent handling without sacrificing comfort. This suspension system is ideal for daily driving and track use. It features a 33-way adjustable dampening setting so you can fine tune your car to suit you and its conditions.

Please fix the tire rubbing. That’s a lot of work and prep to have tires rub continuously…
Ehhhmm.
