The catch can and pcv plate are great for track, but if you drive a significant amount of time on street, they cause a lot of crank pressure, which is going to lead to gaskets and seals leaking. Many of us have learned this the hard way. BL version of pcv with a CC is usually pretty effective, but full mk8 retrofit is better. Keep the TIP stock. It greatly affects crack pressure.

    • @powerst33r
      @powerst33r 5 месяцев назад

The exhaust side of the catch can or oil separator shd be connected to the inlet side of the turbo to provide a constant vacuum. Once that's done properly, it shdn't lead to seals leaking isn't it?

@@powerst33r not always. Depending on the engine and intake setup, you might have positive pressure at idle and low throttle, or until you hit higher rpm.
It's not as simple as that.
Testing that has been done on the stock mk 7 TIP has shown the shape of the TIP and the location the PCV line connects to allows for a vacuum. If you change the TIP, you lose the vacuum on the PCV.
The Mk 8 retrofit creates a venturi at the PCV outlet, allowing you to use an aftermarket TIP without affecting PCV function.

As an original owner of a 2017 GTI, and has modded it quite a bit in just about every category, if I just wanted a fast track GTI, this is what I would do first:
    1. Suspension (Dampers and lowering springs or coilovers + RSB)
    2. Tires
    3. Wheels
    4. Brakes
    5. OBD11
These five things will make the GTI handle very well on a track, and get you much better lap times.
If you want to add power into it, here is what else I would do:
    6. Software tune
    7. DSG tune (if DSG)
    8. DP
    9. Intercooler
This will net you a quick car. There is always more room to grow from here but these will transform the GTI into a street and track weapon.

Even with my 034 trans tune the damn thing will auto shift in manual. 034 told me it is a built in dsg safety feature they won’t turn off, but it is so annoying! I’ll drop two gears coming out of a corner because the car will auto “safety” up shift while I’m mid manual shift. Very annoying. 2018 autobahn.

Oh yeah I’m in S, manual, and traction fully off via obd11, all the good stuff. It will shift at 6500-6900 automatically regardless of mode . 034 confirmed that is normal behavior in manual mode due to the auto shift safety feature they kept on with the factory tcu.
