This is how an interview should be conducted, the recent NBC news interview showed a clear lack of respect, with the interviewers throwing a constant barrage of accusations at Mr Putin. It was worse than embarrassing for the USA. Well done FT, you obviously researched and vetted the questions very carefully.

I understand that his position gives him access to things that the average Russian will never be able to have or do, but is there any evidence for what you are claiming. I have never seen anything that supports what you are claiming. The Panama papers are about rich people parking money offshore and his name is not mentioned there. So at least he does not fall into that category like so many others of our elites do.

Compared to the current extremely low quality western journalism it was very good. However the questions were sometimes too light, if not sounding somewhat naïve. Of course the interviewer's questions were predetermined and I do suspect he had the capacity to ask less obvious questions and ones that seemed indoctrinated with the western media's negative approach to Russia.

It's about interview styles, I don't think there is a norm or rule here that prevents journalists to be straightforward and rude. If they don't like to be asked about sensitive questions then maybe they should not accept interviews with these rude journalists in the first place.

      ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Автономная_сенсорная_ме..

Any of these questions aimed at leaders like Merkel, or Obama for that matter, would also lead to very thoughtful and balanced responses. The only person who isn't balanced like that, is Trump.

I have watched this a few times and have shared with many, too. How refreshing it is to witness journalists do their job as it should be done!
I feel the same about Putin as I have done for many years, even before this interview took place.
He is a highly intelligent man with very broad knowledge of many subjects. His understanding of geopolitics is also far superior to that of our Western leaders and politicians.
It is easy to understand the pride Russians have in their leader. I would be proud to have a leader like him. He surrounds himself with well meaning, balanced, intelligent people. The finest example being Lavrov, but there are many more. Having observed Lavrov over many years, it is my opinion that he is one of the finest foreign ministers and diplomats of our time.
Interestingly, he addressed his people today. Also worth listening to.

Putin and his lackey Trump from the USA both show the traits of a psychopath:
Both despise democracy, both are compulsive liars and both don´t feel any remorse for their crimes. Both don´t have a conscience.
The only difference: Putin is in power. Therefore as a dictator in Russia he could murder many Russian critics of him and many Russian opponents. And he could start a colonial war against democratic independent Ukraine.
Thar´s why Trump admires Putin and wants to have the same power as Putin in the USA.
Trump wants to transform the USA into a dictatorship like Putin´s Russia after becoming president of the USA.

I hate to break this to you, but Joe Biden served as Benjamin Franklin Presidential Professor of the Practice at the University of Pennsylvania between his tenure as Vice President and the start of his presidential campaign for 2020. He was supposed to do 4 years but ended up doing 2 years full-time due to running and winning the 2020 presidential election. Biden was well-received by the Penn students and never had an empty seat in his classes, as well as having thousands of Penn students through university-wide events, talks, and other classroom visits. In their words, Biden was "phenomenally successful."
It was Trump who scammed the students of his university; he took a lot of money from them with many promises. He was supposed to teach some of the classes but didn't show up for ANY. He promised them all his knowledge about becoming a real estate tycoon and receiving great positions in big real estate companies upon graduation, but again, that didn't happen. In the first year of his presidency, he lost and had to close down his university and pay back all of the student's money.

Blindly believing everyone should have the freedom to say or do everything does not make the world better even if it sounds AMAZING.
