This is how an interview should be conducted, the recent NBC news interview showed a clear lack of respect, with the interviewers throwing a constant barrage of accusations at Mr Putin. It was worse than embarrassing for the USA. Well done FT, you obviously researched and vetted the questions very carefully.

If she only were the worst we have watched, at least we could console ourselves thinking that she's not a professional journalist, but she isn't the worst I've watched.
I can only imagine what would happen if a Russian journalist did an interview like that one with Trump. There would be an outrage and everyone would be at Russias throat. Being born in a former soviet country myself I honestly have very negative feelings towards Russia itself, but I must say that watching the entire western world turn their politics into reality tv is just making me sick.

I didn't know such professional interviewers still exist in the western media world. What a rarity. Whatever one might think of putin, it's just so pleasant to see interviewers not trying to be zealous activists. That whole trend got completely out of control.

I understand that his position gives him access to things that the average Russian will never be able to have or do, but is there any evidence for what you are claiming. I have never seen anything that supports what you are claiming. The Panama papers are about rich people parking money offshore and his name is not mentioned there. So at least he does not fall into that category like so many others of our elites do.

There have been successive, very different systems of education. Putin belongs to that system in which the lowest mark was 1, and the highest was 5.
And thanks to Putin for taking time out from being a dictator and killer to talk to these purchased embarrassments to mankind.
Very, very good interviewer, this is a benchmark for interviews with world leaders
Compared to the current extremely low quality western journalism it was very good. However the questions were sometimes too light, if not sounding somewhat naïve. Of course the interviewer's questions were predetermined and I do suspect he had the capacity to ask less obvious questions and ones that seemed indoctrinated with the western media's negative approach to Russia.

Definitely a controversy here. They are rude not because they want to be rude but because they want to be straightforward and possibly persuade interviewee to think about some issues. It's about interview styles, I don't think there is a norm or rule here that prevents journalists to be straightforward and rude. If they don't like to be asked about sensitive questions then maybe they should not accept interviews with these rude journalists in the first place.

1. This is a British media outlet. 2. That has more to do with the freedom of the Russian media. The UK ranks 26th in the World Press Freedom Index (2023), while Russia ranks 164th. There are 180 countries in that index in total.

1) Laos Bombing by USA(approximately 270 million bombs were dropped on Laos which is more than WW1 and WW2 combined) which gave a stature to it "MOST BOMBED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD".
2) Execution of Saddam Hussain by arguing that he made Chemical Weapons which was totally false. Political vacuum was created in Iraq and arms were supplied to rebel groups and that led to the 'RISE OF ISIS' and millions of people were killed and displaced by this group.
3) Killing of Gadaffi in Libya led to the Civil War in Libya which led to the killing of innocent lives.
4) Establishing Taliban to counter USSR in Afghanistan. Taliban has killed thousands of people and ruined the lives of women and this guided massacre is continuing till this date. Now US will leave Afghanistan on 11th September and Taliban will establish control over the country and massacre will further lead to a genocide and increased rates of suicide bombings all over the world! Most leaders are actually very balanced and impressive on many levels. You don't suddenly get to be a leader of a wester democracy. Any of these questions aimed at leaders like Merkel, or Obama for that matter, would also lead to very thoughtful and balanced responses. The only person who isn't balanced like that, is Trump.

The finest example being Lavrov, but there are many more. Having observed Lavrov over many years, it is my opinion that he is one of the finest foreign ministers and diplomats of our time.

It was Trump who scammed the students of his university; he took a lot of money from them with many promises. He was supposed to teach some of the classes but didn't show up for ANY. He promised them all his knowledge about becoming a real estate tycoon and receiving great positions in big real estate companies upon graduation, but again, that didn't happen. In the first year of his presidency, he lost and had to close down his university and pay back all of the student's money.

I was always actually quite anti-american but less so after the recent events (I'm not living in US nor Russia). I found the interview fascinating and the interviewing was relentless in it's line of questioning as if to make up for lost time. Putin was quick to answer and deliver answers to all questions. I found out more information about the world today, than from other world Leaders. So interesting.

Hi @@Saiputera I think it's not fair to say who need to go, this world does not belong to anybody. We are sharing this together and we should live with each other's differences peacefully, imo. Also, there is no perfect economic and political system to rule the world, democracy is not entirely terrible per se, of course it depends how one defines it. Blindly believing everyone should have the freedom to say or do everything does not make the world better even if it sounds AMAZING. Human beings are very COMPLEX, there is no doubt that we need rules and regulations to make ourselves behave while being able to voice out when things are not reasonable. I think it's just a balance of both capitalism and socialism. Spread love, not hate :)
On a side note, not sure if you have watched "Mr Robot", it does not spread positive vibes but it teaches us what a real reality is. (Please don't watch this if you are not feeling well as in having a mild depression or stg.)

This interview is far better than the Carlosn interview, questions are far more probing, notwithstanding this is prior to the Ukraine situation but like him or loath (Putin) you have to be impressed by his calm, his demeanour and in compariosn to most Western leaders he doesn't come across as a buffoon.
