The main reason you see so many Toyotas in militia use is, erm, cos that's what the CIA buy for them. Let's face it, Land Rover (even at it's peak) only ever produced a fraction of the number of Hiluxes that Toyota produce so, when you're ordering vehicles for a militia, you go to a manufacturer who can supply you hundreds of vehicles, and spare parts, to a local dealership.

What a silly test by a bunch of amateurs. Clearly this was a set up to show that the Defender is a much more "capable" off-roader than the Land Cruiser, when in fact, towards the end of the footage, you can tell that the driver in the Land Cruiser had already engaged the vehicle in reverse, which makes it easier for the Defender to draw the Land Cruiser to its side. Some of the many misleading videos on the RUclips.
It's a grip thing. Snow & ice not a good thing. A joke I say to jeep owners is the reason they are made is to make Land Rover owners feel better about themselves. Toyota is the only way to go.
