Hisuian-Arcanine is dominating the post-DLC metagame, even with the existence of Landorus-Therian. Will H-Arc continue to have success even after DLC2 brings us Incineroar? What do you guys think!
H-Arc will prevail despite Incineroar because of what it offers, that being bait. Incineroar has the Steel/Fairy problem, typing being way too good to Terastilize, H-Arc no.
But I can argue that fire/Rock is a great offensive typing. So while Fire/Rock isn't a great defensive type per say, I think hisuian Arcanine can dish some serious damage. Heck it can do even more with its rock head ability since it doesn't take any recoil damage and it can mostly sweep anything quite well.
@@Feliciathedoll yeah, i feel like the main reason that the rock type is bad is that almost all of the rock type Pokémon are defensive or generally slow. Doesn't help that stealth rocks basically counts as having constant rock type coverage throughout the entire game. Even considering the few faster rock types, lycanrock has low stats and no secondary stab, aerodactyl is lacking in attack and in a good flying stab and minior is kinda a gimmick. The only two really good speedy rock types are Terrakion and Iron boulder, terrakion having a better offensive typing and iron boulder having an accurate rock type stab. Oh, and i guess ogrepon has its rock type form which is alright In infinite fusion im running a weavile rampardos combo, and it absolutely shreds through teams with sheer force and good stats, seeing as it has one of the best offensive type combos in rock ice.
That "he does exactly what I do, but better" meme culminating with hisuian Arcanine is so sad yet funny at the same time. I will always have a soft spot for this pokemon. He was the only reason why I would ever do a playthrough in the original Pokemon Red when I was a kid and not pick Charizard.
I love seeing my favorite Pokémon get talked about. Arcanine was my favorite since red and blue. Now H-Arcanine is simply beautiful becoming that true legendary he is in my heart. Truly looking like a real foo dog.
Clicked thinking this was going to be a video covering H-Arc's recent Regional success and wanted to hear your spin, and was very pleasantly surprised it extended beyond that. Really enjoyed the historical breakdown of Arcanine, looking forward to more videos of this style.
Arcanine is my favourite Pokemon, full stop. I love the Hisuian version being an unstoppable chainsaw of rocky and fiery death. But I have a soft spot for my OG Kanto child.
95 base speed will-o-wisp + intimate can never be slept on. And the fact you can plop it down in-front of iron hands, flutter mane, rilliboom and chien-pao without any issues makes it even better.
One of my favorite things to watch on RUclips, even if it's only once a month or two, is Summoning Salt's history of speedrunning things. They are told as stories as much as anything, and I'm already getting that feel here. I feel like you might be able to both document the history of things like this and can tell stories like that. Even if it's less often, I'd love to see stuff like that. I don't know if the audience is there for it, but man, I hope so.
Tera contributes to why hisuian arcanine is better than arcanine right now. Other than type weaknesses, overall hisuian arcanine is a better intimidate user than regular arcanine.
In Gen 3 VGC (Orre Colosseum), Arcanine is actually pretty strong despite no physical special split. It's currently ranked at the top of A tier, because of its ability to OHKO the king of the format Metagross and intimidate every other physical attacker (besides Regis and Pinsir) as well as having rare tools in Helping Hand and Extreme Speed. Even though it doesn't have any other notable support options yet, the sheer power of its Overheat lets it put in work in nearly every matchup. At max SpAtk, it can OHKO the likes of Tauros, Gengar and Medicham. It is the second best intimidater right behind Tauros which sits in A+ tier.
I love historical breakdowns of VGC and the meta games throughout the years. Interesting to see how Arcanine has been used and why it’s been overlooked throughout the years. Great video!
6:10 I'm 90% sure Eruption was exclusive to Heatran from the *other* spin-off game, Pokemon *Ranger* because I don't think MD ever did those sorts of tie-in pokemon, even though Ranger did a bunch of them, including an entire mythical pokemon in Manaphy.
I feel like giving him the Normal/Fire typing would actually be a really good buff for him. Not only would he get STAB extreme speed, but he would be immune to ghost-type moves and resist fairy, making him a great answer to Fluttermane.

I like Arcanine a lot. In singles play, it usually can't even make the cut for UU because it doesn't have access to Swords Dance or Dragon Dance to make it an offensive sweeper.
To be fair, rather than beating power creep I think Arcanine dodged it. Hisuian Arcanine is also a power crept version of Arcanine as well. But when Arcanine couldn't escape power creep, it saw no use.
Always tried to make old arcanine work in singles (mostly gen 4 and early gen 5), easily favorite gen 1. Stealth rock tho 😡. Glad its not been forgotten by gamefreak. Now we just need to bring the speed tier creep back in line and itll be a real powerhouse in singles
I love this type of content and the quality was great. I hope these take off. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. I played vgc in gen 7 and I loved using arcanine. It was a great support pokemon but could also be used very offensively with both good power and useful coverage depending on the set. Casually it had always been one of my favourite pokemon, fighting for a spot with ninetales. With ninetales getting an alolan form that was also quite good I could finally use both on a team.
Even with Incineroar on the way I think there's a strong possibility hisuian arcanine can continue to be successful as even with lando that should deter it it's still having major success. When there's a rock slide there's a way!
Im not a competitive player so please feel free to educate and correct my ignorant butt, but isnt this how any and every pokemon becomes usable/unusable? By the game changing, rules changing, pokedex changing? Also, i would consider regional variants to be entirely new pokemon.

I'm sorry, but I find myself unable to see different regional variants as the same pokémon. To me, a Kantonian Persian and an Alolan one are two completeley separate mons, and the same goes for Arcanine. Too different, sometimes in typing, stats... and not just looks. I just can't.

The latter does 150 BSP, but when it connects you have 1/2 of your HP cut as recoil, and the prior has less recoil, but still a lot. But with Rock Head negating any recoil damage, they are really spammable.
