when I was a victim of groping on a NY subway, I was paralyzed with fear. I was totally frozen and crying silently. I still am terrified to go anywhere by myself since then, but as single adults, we have to, but be as safe and proactive as possible so future occurences NEVER happen again. I conceal carry, have pepper spray, and took gun safety classes so I never feel powerless again. It might seem like overkill, but having it alone keeps me from being frozen in fear when I feel scared, and I can get away without harming anybody. My heart goes out to everyone who has ever suffered this.
