Hello Autarch, I’ve recently begun to walk the path of the warrior and I wish to thank you for your advice. I’m new to walking this path in the 41st millennium of the mon-kiegh’s calendar. Your insights are helping me learn to think in a way that I had failed to understand due to my lack of experience. Fortune favors you. ^_^
I went to a tournament earlier in the year and hadn’t played for a while so I wanted a low model count list to make my life simpler. I ran the knight with an avatar, a Lynx and 2 Farseers for fortuning. I won 2 of the 5 games and it was a really fun list to run.
Hey man, thank you so much for your videos! Elves need to get all the love! Quick point of feedback: on long videos I'd prefer that you section them by topic (this morning, for example, I didnt have time to watch the whole video but I wanted to read/hear opinions on the suncannon vs. wraithcannon in particular), do as you wish of course, I'll keep watching your content!
"Late" 10th edition. Please don't say that, please don't say that, please don't say that. We are finally about to get our Codex and Pariah nexus is the first interesting (and only other) mission pack we've had since 10th released.
I reckon Brent just means we're late in the life of our index - soon the codex will land and there will hopefully be a wraith detachment that shakes all this up entirely.
To be honest, this edition feels like it's finally coming together with everyone's rules. We got 9th edition codexes and we're bummed to switch to 10th, but 10th has been so digital, so constantly updated, being reset back to basics seems really dumb. Like just keep patching, keep adding more detachments, it's all online now anyway. Sell DLC, don't reset the game
Great video! I think you hit on something here that is almost the key to winning almost any 10th edition game for any army. Thinking back to most of the games i have played this addition (all causal, various armies and opponents), having one more hard target than the opponent can deal with often leads to more success, but you never know how many they can deal with before the game
Awesome video, thanks! The Wraithknight is such a cool model, wish he could be played more. Bit unlucky this doesn't account for the latest balance sheet, the ability to put the knight into reserves should open up some new options. If you go for the shooty option the backline the recent changes also make it an option to use guardian defenders + foot Autarch with banshee mask instead of Banshees to protect the knight from melee. If you knight is close enough to a victory point you can have one guardian on that, so that combo gives you 11 models to charge block, fights first, a free stratagem each turn on that unit (generally for heroic intervention, overwatch, or Phantasm) , an extra fate dice each turn, an extra brightlance, and the Autarch's combat potential.
Hey man 2 things, first off I love your content, I started playing elder recently (convert from sm) and these videos have been both informative and relaxing to listen to while I work! So thanks man keep them coming! Secondly I wondered what your thoughts were on shroud runners, I think they look insanely cool and the rules read kind of nuts.
Yeah, shroud runners are a highly competitive unit. For example, run them in the same list as a block of windriders with Farseer Skyrunner. 27 shots, rerolling all hits, sustained hits, and now, lethal hits from the shroud runners. That can force a ton of saves on some very heavy vehicles. They also have scout, and can snipe some characters. So in short, they are very good! :)
Oh yeah, I think shroud runners are really good - mostly because they're so efficiently pointed. There are matchups in which their scatter laser shots are really useful - like into orcs- and there are matchups in which they really aren't much of a combat threat. But it doesn't really matter when they're not a combat threat, because they're cheap enough and mobile enough and durable enough that they're still more than worth their points just as a secondary scoring unit
I tried to use it against an Harlequin list. Suncannon + Wraithcannon. A single Wraithcannon + 2 starcannons were in my experience just barely enough to kill sup-10 wounds vehicles (sometimes leaving them on 1 wound...), and the SunCannon would often give disappointing results as soon as you combine a swingy 2d6 shots and an enemy unit possessing a 5 or 4++ in the end my opponent just manoeuvered around its towering LOS using his transports, and simply counted on his above-average modelcount list to be able to keep scoring and endure possible attrition. Also power weapons and dev-wounds can eat through the Knight surprisingly quickly
I had a good game against necrons recently. The avatar, nightspinner, wraithknight, wraithblades in waveserpent, storm guardians with warlock, shroudrunners, wayleaper etc. The wraithknight started in reserve and turn two blasted the silent king down to two wounds and the wraithblades chopped off the last wounds. The wraithcanons into big bad units is really satisfying.
I Played only 1 game with the Wraithknight all my games are casual. It managed to 1 shot 2 dreads and kill 5 termies. Took loads of hits to go down also. I think the unit is great for casuals.
Since 8th edition GW have been absolutely intent on making the suncannon bad, and they have been successful in that attempt. Only god knows why they decided to add Blast to the HWC, which was more of a single shot weapon previously, and do not have blast to the Suncannon, which was originally a template weapon. At the very least the Suncannon should be 6+d6 shots.
I’m a big fan of shroud runners as scoring units. They are absurdly points efficient for their movement and wounds. And they cover horde control with big base move blocking and scatter lasers.
Wondering if y'all could look at Warlocks and Warlock conclaves at some point! I'm extremely new to 40k and the hobby in general, and love the lore around warlocks and their focus on being battle-magey. However i have no clue how they perform on tabletop despite me buying 4 of them. Would be awesome to see a breakdown of them and their role in the game if y'all have the time! Always engaging videos, thanks!
@@xivkya6882 okay, so the bad news is that conclaves are probably the worst units in the codex after the Webway Gate. Single Warlock Skyrunners though are pretty solid in a big unit of Windriders with a Farseer Skyrunner- I have a video about that build

But what do you think of him now that he droped i think 15 points which isnt alot but allows him to start offboard. Do you consider that an option now or is it always better to start him on the board?
@@WBConcilio i’ve checked out a few of your videos and I’m seeing the theme with a lot of the infantry… combo it with the falcon. That rolling wounds role is sick on any aspect. One wraith knight with dual cannons. and a wave serpent with five wrath guard and a spirit seer. I think there’s plenty of extra points to fill out the list but what do you think?
Is the Vyper good enough to do a Unit Focus on? I was thinking of running two with missile launchers, to really optimize their value to sapp an enemy's benefit from cover. Two seem like they would be pretty discrete in a 2k game, as opposed to some other options in the Codex for the same price. But Vypers are not tough. A Shroud Runner squad is about the same price and a lot more survivable... but they don't provide blanket support like the venerable Vyper does. @WBConcilio yes, but I couldn't resist the chance to complain about a (imo bad) change. Let an old warrior have his grumbling about how everything was better back in his youth...
Question. The Spiritseer can lead Wraithlords. If they are attached to that unit it says they can revive one unit on their command phase. Does that mean I need two Wraithlords in a unit or can I just attach Spiritseer to a single Wraithlord then revive him on my command phase with the Spiritseer if he gets killed. My mind says that if a single Wraithlord is attached to a Sprirtseer and dies that "unit" is killed and can't be revived...but if the Spiritseer is technically a part of the unit and does not die the "unit" is not dead. Sounds cheesy so I am thinking king I need two Wraithlords in unit and attach a Spiritseer with them. Might be a cheaper alternative to the 10 man Wraithguard block. Any thoughts? I have only just started playing and consider you to be an expert. Many rules I am not aware of
Yeah, it's a good question. The answer is that when a Wraithlord dies, It cannot be revived. This is because when an HQ model is the last model left in its unit, it's now considered to be its own unit independent of that original unit. Also, a spiritseer can never be attached to multiple wraithlords because they only come in squads of one- and a spiritseer can never be attached to a wraithknight at all
I thought that was the case in them only being a unit of one. I just hope in the codex they allow is to have a way to combine Wraithlords and other wraith units together. Allowing them to be in units of two/three would be a bit OP imo.
Gw realised that characters sell real well and people buy single space marine sized characters for 45-65€ that is why they made the characters top tier this edition. Best return on investment.
