I have a fear of writing comments, so here I am doing so. My irrational fear that everything I do is being judged and the constant avoidance of taking initiatives is ruining my life. I’m so grateful for these tips, they make you realize not to avoid but to sometimes make yourself comfortable. I love the analogy of comparing your fears to the muscle building. I hope I can leverage these tips and become better soon. :)

@@Coinmancer when you think about it, anxious people have some of the strongest minds.
When you look at it from this perspective, anxious people's minds are so strong as they are powerful enough to convince their own brain that they are in danger. Although it's not beneficial to think in the sense of worst case scenarios and anxiety. If you were to change how you use the fear and power of anxiety (that we give it) think of what crazy and amazing things we could do if we used our brains in another way?

Agnie, The only permanent way to beat anxiety is meditation because meditation reprogrames the mind and helps you relax without stress. On Google search engine enter "alternate nostril breathing meditation videos" and do the simple meditation for 10-15 minutes twice a day or even more. This can also be done sitting on a chair. Lot of negative thoughts will come but anxiety and stress will reduce in a few days. To know the benefits enter "Benefits of alternate nostril breathing meditation " on Google search. Do the above meditation regularly. Do not stop. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Best wishes.Shyaaam-Life Coach.

I been on medication for about 1 year now. Honestly the medication made me feel worst before I could feel normal again. I never had a traumatic event. I was always smiling with a great sense of humor so I have no Idea what trigger it. As a teen I did martial arts and lots of meditation but nothing could get me ready for this. My first anxiety episode was at 33 and I was hospitalize. They couldn't find nothing wrong with me. My Doctor said I had some form of anxiety. Since I been exercising again and meditating on a whole different level! I try to be more aware of my surrounding and turn of the light in my room when ever I feel overwhelm. I don't like living with anxiety but I don't let it control me either and its so hard to do. I sometime start crying out of no where but when my tears are all gone I feel brand new I feel better. Life is beautiful and anxiety perhaps has humble me. Its like learning how to walk again. Thank you for this video.

I had to get rid of a lot of things I was taking like coffee and certain supplements that were affecting my blood pressure and trigging my anxiety. Chamomile tea helps in the morning and in the night. I’m here to help bud if anything. Sometimes the best source is talking about it.

I actually only started drinking coffee over the last year and I stopped it the day this all started since I knew it would just make things worse. i CAN do hard things, i do them constantly, and i overcome them. Usually, the things i was most anxious about wind up coming and going without being even half as harrowing as my anticipatory anxiety made them out to be... but it rarely registers as a success for me, or as a "facing my fears" kinda moment - i just feel haggard after, and judge myself for how hard the thing was for me emotionally, when it clearly shouldn't have been.
I guess the step i am missing is giving a judgement free space for my feelings. instead i just get angry with my own emotions most of the time. as if my feelings were an annoying weeping child and i wanna has as little contact with as possible...

Added to that rhe shame and judgement they spew as if something is wrong with your character because you prefer not to be around pets. Getting this education has made me so much more compassionate to others with any kind of anxiety or phobia. . .because we all probably have "something" we're managing.

1)Choose something that matters more. Write down why you want to beat anxiety, why you want to experience it.
    2) Practice willingness, allow physical sensations to be there and breathe into them. Sit with them. Active acceptance
3)Practice grounding techniques and build emotional muscles
4)Let go of perfectionism. I'm gonna keep trying and learning. Let go of looking perfect and be open to mistakes
5)Let go of belief, " I can't handle this anxiety" This is uncomfortable, but I can do hard things
6)Change how you perceive situations. Notice the thought and then replace the thought
7)Do one small step everyday. Exposure hierarchy. Start with smaller fears.
8)Stay with your fears till you can calm down, allow it to be uncomfortable for a cause . Be present , feel the emotions pass through, allow the number to reduce by at least half
9)Get support to help you face your fears.
10)Be compassionate with yourself. Celebrate small wins. We are caring too much. Let go, give yourself some love.

I am reparenting myself as the parent(s) I deserved. Not the mean and punitive ones that demanded perfection from a child. It's taken me a very long time to get this and, I'm still struggling at times to do this. However, it is worth treating myself as a special and good friend because, I am that to my friends already! Why not to me too?
Thanks for sharing your talks with us. I'm getting so much more out of your videos than the bimonthly therapy sessions I have. I'm definitely a subscriber!

Very helpful video, thank you. I see parallels with what Jordan Peterson has written in his books. Slay the dragon to get the gold = face the fear to reap the rewards. 'Treat yourself as someone you are responsible for helping' = be compassionate with yourself. When experts in mental health say similar things which make sense everyone should take notice. This video provides us with the right questions to ask, we just need to take it upon ourselves to find out the answers.

Thank you so much for the help and advice on how to manage anxiety, I have been trying to fight it, and I'm attending therapy, but have not found it as helpful as watching your videos, maybe I haven't given it enough time yet, and I was not exactly clear on what I was struggling with when talking with my therapist.
You are very knowleagable about it, and calming, and for the first time I feel I'm not alone in how I feel. My family / college lectures, even therapists don't seem to understand how bad it is, Which makes me feel worse. It's debilitating. I'm attending college, and in my second last year, and anxiety is around doing my college work and also social interactions with competitive and intimidating classmates, who seem to have played on my struggles.I used to love the work, and was able to do it, with a normal amount of anxiety. but since dealing which the situations with class mates it has worsened, and now even when their not around (covid 19 working from home). It seems to just flare up every time I try to do my college work. I've had to get extensions to finish exams, and the more time that passes the worse It becomes. I now fear not being able to finish at all, but I just keep trying and nothing is happening, so I end up distracting myself from the feelings by watching t.v or going for walks/eating.
I tried to hide how I was feeling feeling and not appear vunerable. When I have talked about it, it has made me feel worse because I don't feel I got the understanding I needed, and felt they thought it was my own fault and problem, and the way in which the classmates were affecting me, was ultimately in my control. I have a lot of responsibility outside college as a single parent to a teenager, and Im also in a newish (2.5yrs) relationship for the first time since my daughter was a baby. Achieving the college degree means a lot to me and I have tried a few times over the years, but haven't succeeded. thanks for all the tips! I'm not going to let this beat me!!

Siobhan Dermott, The only permanent way to beat anxiety is meditation because meditation reprogrames the mind and helps you relax without stress. Just sitting still on a chair without moving is also a great experience. Do the above meditation regularly. Do not stop. Life is meant to be enjoyed. Best wishes.Shyaaam-Life Coach.

I was so traumatised and still suffer from this fear even today. The last time I went to do CT scan, my wife had to be with me in the radiation room and I struggled through it. This reminds me of when my doctor told me I have Lyme and that I should learn more about it. So I did.
The first thing the book talked about was ticks. And to sum it up basically ticks are everywhere and are unavoidable. They are around in winter time too!
I freaked out. But I took a step back and realized I was at a cross roads. If I took the path of fear it would controle my life. I wouldn't go outside or into forests. And I would live in fear. Or I could take the other path and accept that there is nothing i can do to avoid ticks and worrying about them won't help. I can take precautions like having someone search my scalp after being in a forest and that would be responsible. And I can enjoy myself in forests and the outdoors.
Well I took the second path🙂 I am so glad I did.
After that I understood that when new fears arrive it is up to me to either allow the fear to controle me or to think rationally amd realize I don't have to be afraid. And that it is ok to be afraid but don't let it controle you!
This saved my life when I was being bullied by a nurse to do a procedure I didn't want. She was trying to make me afraid so I would do as they wanted.
I told her I would think about it and call back with my decision.
You see her bullying had backfired. It made me want to do the opposite even MORE. But I realized that was not wise either. So I allowed the emotion to run its course then when I was calm I carefully thought through the choices I had.
I thought about what my future would look like in each path and decided that I was going to tale my path. The one I found.
So I called back and informed them that I would not be doing the procedure.
And that was that. Then I did my path. And I am better because of it. I did a diet and am better now. No need to remove my colon because I healed the ulcers with a liquid nutritional diet from the book "The Flare Stopper System"
I am 100% healed. No more ulcers!
So yes it pays off to take a step back and really think about how fear will impact your future. And make the best choice!
    You can do it!

    Hello Good morning
I wanted to share this experience I have had for many years . All your tips are extremely helpful & im very grateful I came across your videos I can’t stop watching them & smiling . I’ve suffered from anxiety for many years , I have two kids & all I want is to give them a great life go places , and meet new places , but my anxiety has been taken over me . I have this problem when I panic I forget how to properly breath and it gives me a panic attack. I have been better at my breathing , but I always keep having these episodes of thinking i might go through it again & I avoid places so I won’t have to go through that experience again. It’s very scary to feel like I’m forgetting how to breath I think I make it worse when I panic or I’m driving or I’m with my kids. I would love to know any tips from anyone or yourself that I can do to help my breathing when it happens . Thank you ♥️

Ah... I see... Perfectionism, is it? Yes, now that I think about it, I've been unreasonably and unnecessarily trying to be perfect lately.
I'm basically in a desperate situation where I can no longer fail. That's why I've been trying so hard to be perfect. But since I crave for perfection, I can no longer tolerate literally any of my flaws.
That also prevents me from doing hard things, which what I used to do on daily basis. Since I can no longer tolerate failure or mediocrity, I've been unconsciously avoiding doing hard things because I will likely to fail.
My fear of failure is so intense that it makes me dysfunctional. I see...
Thank you for the insight! ❤️

i've been socially anxious throughout childhood, when i was 26 i decided to join package travels with strangers. i tried to do it every month as long as my budget can allowat first i couldnt sleep for nights before the travel, but eventually i become comfortable with people. i also took a frontline job where i need to talk to customers.. it really helped, ive changed so much for the past 6 yrs, until the pandemic and lockdowns happened. i somehow lost the momentum.. now i'm going back to building this social confidence again but yes i am totally different now than 6 yrs ago.

    1. choose something that matters more
    - write down WHY you want to beat anxiety
    2. practice willingness
    - changing your rules - its okay to feel anxious sometimes instead of I want to avoid anxiety
    - method: meditation + mindfulness (sit with experience, thought, emotions) - training for distress tolerance
    - Calm and soothe body with
    - practice grounding & self-regulation activities
    - self-regulation activities
    3. build emotional muscles
    - the more you practice the smoother and faster and stronger the neuroplasticity will become
    4. let go of perfectionism
    - replace with growth mindset
    - I’m going to keep learning and improving and it involves messing up at times
    5. Let go of belief of ‘I can’t handle it’
    - linked to perfectionism - idea of doing something without looking like its difficult/uncomfortable
    - replace this thinking with ‘yes it is uncomfortable, but I CAN do these things’
    6. change how you perceive situations
    - intervening at the THOUGHT-level
    - replace ‘this dog is gonna kill me’ → ‘most dogs are safe, that dog looks nice’
    - works as preventative (before the situation)
    - start with ****Cognitive Distortions:**** catastrophising, mental filtering, black/white filtering
    7. do one small step everyday
    - write down a fear exposure hierarchy - baby-steps
    - write down goals/accomplishments
    8. stay with fears until you calm down (or set amount of time)
    - allow yourself to be uncomfortable for a cause
    - rank the anxiety after out of 10
    - the better the acceptance of emotions → the more likely the anxiety decreases
    - stay in it until it halves or for X mins - give self credit after
    - DO NOT: say ‘if I get too anxious I’ll leave’
    9. get support
    - help face fears - friends, therapist, accountability
    10. be compassionate with self
    - give self-credit
    - count your wins no matter how small

#9 and taking baby steps were techniques I used to get over my driving anxiety. I never realized they were legitimate techniques at the time; it was just something I started doing once I found a friend that would keep me company and go on road trips with me. I knew I had to face my anxiety or else I'd never improve. I wish I had the same courage to "face my fear" for my phobia.
