  • My version of a animated coffin prop. I built this for fairly cheap...around $100, including the Walgreen's skeleton. I built the coffin using one sheet of half inch plywood and some extra pieces of wood I had laying around. The prop uses two double acting cylinders and one three port valve. I attached springs to the cylinders to return them to their original position when the air is deactivated. The prop is triggered using a motion detector for a flood light.
Thanks for watching and Happy Halloween!

Thanks man! Yeah, you have to try your hand at pneumatics! I'm no expert, but love the versatility and ease of using pneumatics in my props. I've found they are almost easier than using motors for many applications. Thanks for watching! Enjoy your channel!

That would fit right in over here- I like it a lot! I haven't made a single pneumatic prop. Maybe in year 3-,gotta step it up someday. Nice prop man

Incredible! I like your pneumatic set up lots better than any other DIY vid I've seen on RUclips yet. And I mean on the technical aspects of how the pneumatic system, seems so much better under control ( like there's no worry the door will fling off from the throw). Does the spring dampen the throw (and I mean that in a good way). I want to build one badly and have all the skills needed except the pneumatic portion. Would love to see you post a parts list just of what is needed for that part.

Thanks for the nice compliment David. I had only built one other pneumatic prop before this (a simple tombstone popper) and realized how easy and reliable pneumatics were to work with. I am no expert, but if you haven't tried a pneumatic prop yet I seriously recommend it. As far as what I used for the coffin, I've listed a parts that you would probably need:
-6 inch stroke cylinder for coffin pop up
-4 inch store cylinder for skeleton pop up
      - pneumatic valve ( I used a three port valve)
      - motion detector flood light
      - powered speakers
      - MP3 player
      - springs (if using double acting cylinders)
      - coffin ( made of 3/4 plywood )
      - Walgreens skeleton

You could have eliminated the cylinder under the skeleton of you attached it with fishing line from the lid. That would pull it up when the lid opened and shut
