  • I converted my pneumatic coffin prop to a linear actuator controlled prop. This lets me control the prop with electronics only and not having to have a air source which is required for a pneumatic cylinder controlled prop. This is in no way to point any negatives towards pneumatic props...I just am getting lazy in my efforts to set up my Halloween display and just don't want to spend the extra effort in running air lines for my props. I give much credit to the haunters out there that use pneumatic props and how much effort and skill it takes to make pneumatic props work! I guess I'm just getting lazy in my old age!! :) Happy Haunting!!

I realy like the idea of doing things without a compressor, you prove its possible and beautiful. We love it!

Well done! I was pleasantly surprised by the speed. I can't stand the idea of using pneumatics as they are always so cranky.

It came out awesome. I am starting to feel the same way about pneumatics...so this is a great alternative. Thanks.

I have a very similar looking linear actuator that I installed in a wheely bin. I've looped the motor wires out of the bottom of the bin and fitted connectors. That way I can unplug it from the internal controller and apply 12V directly (to open it) if anything goes wrong.

That's a great idea! I wish i would have done that. I thought of adding some sort of switch as a manual override, but seems like a lot of effort.

Attach it's hand to the lid as close to camera on the piston.. it will look like the skeleton is opening it!

Any way you post what you used in this build. Your link to older video isn’t working.
    Thanks looks awesome

    Great prop.
Which speed does the actuator has?

Can you do these things with stuff from your hardware store or just strictly places like frightprops?

Tiffy T-Rex you might be able to find a variety of linear actuators online, but this would not be something you’d be able to find at the hardware store. You’d also need some kind of controller. I just like frightprops because of the quality of their products, and their prices are very fair.
