This video is absolute gold. watching your whole process from start to finish is really helpful for me because I'm quite new to inking, and seeing you be so calm after dropping that massive blob of ink on your page honestly made me rethink whether my screwups are really as unsalvageable as I've always thought them to be. David, when I was a young man I taught myself to play guitar. I would often ask my friends who were more skillful to show me chords and techniques. I remember a few who would simply refuse, rather hoarding their knowledge for reasons I could not fathom. I simply remember being crushed. You have no idea how amazingly grateful we who are aspiring to learn to draw appreciate your willingness to spend time letting us look over your shoulder.
When I look at your finished work it's that much more amazing to know that you sometimes "struggle" during the process, as struggling is what we beginners do 90% of the time. Thank you so much. Your drawings are that much more amazing to behold having watched the entire process. Actually, you better be careful; I might start thinking I can actually learn how to draw.

Your technique is so defined that your artwork is immediately recognizable and authentic. The use of shadows and form is so spectacular.

Nice, that you are back. I loved your much older tutorials (on another site on the internet) and I hope you do it again. Especially your vids about drawing heads (female and male) and the whole other basics like clothes, hands, feet, all that stuff. Thanks for the great videos.

Most artists are their own worst critics and wish they could draw like someone else they admire or would like to be improve their style, technique, or just able to progress at drawing something they find very difficult or always struggle with. That what makes drawing and all art in general so awesome and rewarding is putting in the time and effort to practice and working on achieving those goals and of course the feedback and positive criticism from your friends, family, and colleagues noticing it too. I'm a big fan of yours and used to dream of being a comic book artist after getting into comic books in 1993 and drawing like the artists I admired who left Marvel to start Image and the many others who would later join Image like you. Long story short I'm sure you hear how phenomenal your work is all the time and it's true but if you want to get better or faster at drawing something I'm certain you'll find a method that works best for you then it'll get easier over time. Hell if anything I know if you search on RUclips you'll find tutorials or helpful videos from artists you admire explaining what they did to level up their skills. And most important of all never give up and always believe to someday achieve.

It is so good to see you working and hearing your thoughts and troubles with drawing. Sooo precious to hear how painters have common troubles all the way to the top!

Love your work! YT algorithym got me here and I'm grateful they did. When I was young I like many others, wanted to aspire to be the next Stan Lee, but I didn't realize at the time how many years of perfecting our craft was needed to do what you do. I'm older and have contemplated getting back into it with realistic expectations. Your narration and real time drawing is inspirational! Keep up the good work! PS: Long videos build patience and any aspiring artist better have patience or get our of the game.

A topic suggestion i'd like to see is your process for organising light and shadows across a scene so they read well and pop the subject. You insights on this would be great :)

That would be a really good one. It's something impossible to do quickly, but I could touch on it.

@@DavidFinchartist I'm sure any knowledge bombs you've got to drop on the subject would be great and informative. Maybe analysing your previous art would help save some time drawing something new?
I'll appreciate whatever subject you cover, thanks for these man!
