Holy cow!!! That keyboard is hideous!!! There is so much space on the sides you can put a cup of coffee on one side of the keyboard and a danish on the other.
Exactly!!!! They should have widened the keyboard and placed the speakers on top, not the bottom!!!! They kinda almost had. And ironically, I own one. Loll I just connect a Bluetooth speaker for movies.
Cirenio Pizano I bought this today, and I was thinking the same thing about the number pad. However, ironically I never used the number pad just the top row numbers.
I bought last fall the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 15" laptop with a core I5 and 6 GB of ram, the lower end model you mentioned. For what I do with it, email, RUclips videos, some MS Excel and some music, this laptop certainly works for me.
I had this laptop for a few days and it suffered from a lot of back-light bleed at the bottom and on the right side it had bleed which looked like a thumb print. Possibly I had a bad panel. I returned it and I now have the Toshiba Radius P55W C 4k model. The Toshiba has the same cpu but is also a 2-in-1 model with a full number pad . I think the Toshiba screen also has a little more contrast than the Dell. The Toshiba can take a full 2.5" SSD and has two slots for ram which is also up-gradable to 16gb. I swapped out the hard drive and memory and have a 1tb Samsung evo SSD and 16gb of memory installed. Overall it is a nice machine and very easy to swap memory etc. Maybe a full review could be done here. Lisa, I love your reviews, some of the best online :)
I was checking the Dell website and they now have an Inspiron 15 with a 6700HQ and other high end specs. The price looks very reasonable. Do you think you'll be able to review it soon?
Very nice review, I have the 5548 model with same internals (Broadwell Intel Core i7 5500 + graphics card AMD Radeon R7 M270 + 8GB RAM) and mine doesn't have touchscreen and is a standard HD display. I recommend this machine since it's not gaming horsepower but is much faster than most Ultrabooks since most don't come with discrete graphics, and it has slightly long battery life for a machine with discrete graphics (about 6 to 7 hours). If you want a laptop that can play games on low settings or medium settings on some games, this is a very nice choice.
I recently spent 5 days with the 15.6 4K Intel i7 w/12gb ram. its a nice laptop but the colors on the screen just dont cut it. All the colors look washed out. the screen is nice but beware. The gloss on it is beyond this world. I tried using it outdoors with full brightness, which is not bright at all, and all I could see is my self. Another issue is that when you plug in headphones to it, everything sounds echoed, kinda like when your in a electronic store's TV section and all the audio is meshing together. Ultimately i really wanted to keep this laptop. I had planed to replace the 1TB HDD with a 500g SSD to make it run faster but i just couldnt get over the lack of color, brightness and viewing angles.
Lisa, what do you expect from upcoming Dell XPS 15 (infinity display). Will it be lighter and slimmer than current 17 mm Dell XPS 2015? Will it change the game?
Do you think you will get the chance to review the new Inspiron 15 7000? Considering buying one to replace my XPS 14. Really like the 4K display, quad core i5/i7 and GTX 960M. Seems like a good deal
Lisa you rock, I was thinking of getting this laptop because 4k, 12GB RAM, and a not terrible GPU, all for at around $1k, but I will be using the laptop for some game development, graphic design, and mild gaming, like League of Legends, Diablo 3, etc. What would you recommend for a laptop for $1k or less. (4k isn't needed quite yet for me at least)
Thank you for this video. I am wondering though and would like to ask if it would be possible to run a consumer guide on PC brands or manufacturers, looking at their general reliability and longevity, customer service etc. I have been looking at "best" guides for laptops from various UK press sources, tech sites etc. and they would show varying degrees in their overall scoring. I would very much like to get your perspective, as you come across as a professional, thorough and consistent reviewer who I go to for information. Is Dell still seen negatively or have they genuinely improved ? Is Acer or Asus any good ? or lenovo or HP? or is it a matter of avoiding the mass manufactured route and go for a custom build your own ? thanks for taking the time to read my comment...
Lack of a number pad is a deal breaker. Look how small that keyboard is. I don't know why Dell stopped putting number pads. Are they trying to copy Apple? I will stick with ASUS, Toshiba, and HP as they still put number pads on 15 inch laptops.
I returned mine and went back to the 15 5000 series, because the keyboard was a complete nightmare. It's really strange to type on too, with tall and thin keys set far to the right.
Can you please review the 2019 version, it looks like a beast. Same internals as the XPS15 and it's a slightly bigger chassis so the thermals could be quite good
I heard a lot of people complaining about this lap top, especially about build quality and trackpad. I need it for work, not gaming. I like 4K option. Don't know should I go for it?
This is a good looking machine. But The speakers on the bottom muffle sound and the key board should have been widened. They almost had it. I suggest, since I own one, to buy it when it's on sale or open box. Other than that. It's good. Thin. 7ish hour battery life (realistically). Clean cut look. Appreciatable ports. Also, you might need to buy a wireless mouse: the touch pad is s little too sensitive. -kudos
I have a suggestion: Can you upgrade every laptop you review to Windows 10 before you record ? believe me, it'll make a huge difference. I start watching the review until i see the laptop runs Window 8! then ... I stop.
Nice design, the core i7 "u" is good with an SSD and okay with a HDD but I don't unterstand why they only put this low end radeon chip inside, a higher end radeon would be desirable to the level of a nvidia 950m or so, or just use a 950m or even 960 for 1400 bucks.... But this r7 270 is slower than the 750m in the previous model.... Hope it gets updated
I'm starting to switch from Mac to Dell , but one thing I don't like is how confusing the names are. I mean come on! Dell 2016 7000 UHD 4k. I know some people know what that means, but for us normal people we have no idea what that means.
They always get the most expensive model which makes it really inconvenient for me as I'm generally looking for a review on a good deal, not a beefed up mid range laptop.
Have hade this laptop for 5 months, its worth the money and its great, I love it very much, BUTT if you dont care about having a high resolution screen, then I would invest the money in another laptop that is more powerful.
I'm pretty sure the top and bottom of this notebook are plastic. I've seen some videos about it being plastic, even when the Dell site says it's aluminium.
Hi I am thinking of getting this for college. If I am going for the HD version instead of 4k, will I get some extra battery life to the original 3-ish hours of 4k? Say 6 hours for normal usage... I'm really digging this laptop, but it's battery life is my main concern :/
Lisa.. First Off.. Love Love Love all your reviews. Just awesome coverage. Just chicken soup for my nerd girl soul. lol I was wondering if Dell laptop fans are very loud. I have a HP Pavillion 13.3 right now. Fan can get somewhat loud at times. I would like to get a 15.6 Dell. Wanted to know if you knew anything about the fan noise. Thank you ahead of time
hi Lisa, just wondering i need a good powerful laptop for serious studying and would prefer something with at least 16 GB ram and powerful processor as well as a decent graphics card(not for gaming) but a really long battery life(something that surpasses mac book pro 15) and am looking for 15 inch model with a good display.Any recommendations that are better in comparison to mac book 15 and lasts a long time just like the mac book? also i don't want to pay as much as the mac book 15
Is it a pentile display? I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2, it has a high resolution pentile display and it also has yellow problem. I thought it was because it lacked some subpixel for yellow.
Lost me as soon as you opened the lid. Looks like my first Packard Bell laptop. When are they going to realize people want full screen displays and not those wide borders.
I don't even know why Dell makes computers like this. The XPS 13 will do just as well performance-wise and is similarly priced, but a much more premium product with a minimal footprint and longer battery life.
Tim S Except that the XPS 13 does not come with discrete graphics, Intel HD Graphics 5500 can't play games at low/medium settings like this laptop can.
Faust Busserl FIFA 2015 can be played at 4K with more than 30fps, I'm not sure about Diablo 3 at 4K, but at Quad HD (1640x1440) you can easily get more than 30fps. All 2D games from Microsoft store should run natively at 4K (Except Disney Infinity 2.0 or Project Spark which are 3D games designed for gaming laptops).
Hi Lisa, Could you please help me. I am about to purchase laptop. I am confused between Inspiron 13 and 15. How much difference it would make it terms of screen resoultion and graphics for normal use.

That's why the space is there.
I hate how small the keyboard is compared to the laptop size..
Exactly!!!! They should have widened the keyboard and placed the speakers on top, not the bottom!!!! They kinda almost had. And ironically, I own one. Loll I just connect a Bluetooth speaker for movies.
Yup!
Cirenio Pizano I bought this today, and I was thinking the same thing about the number pad. However, ironically I never used the number pad just the top row numbers.
Michael Wynter Glad you like the laptop, man. You'll like it a lot.
Yeah, I hope so

Patrick had the i5 version, lasted a lil over a year, now it hardly stays on, now I'm out $700, never buying Dell again
You should review the new version of the Inspiron 15 7000. It starts at $1099 CAD with an i5-6300HQ and a 960M 4GB GDDR5.
I'm gonna buy it in the coming days, I'll play GTA 5, AW, and other games. I'll make a video about it.
+Katherine Walsh
its 525. When was it 399?
I was checking the Dell website and they now have an Inspiron 15 with a 6700HQ and other high end specs. The price looks very reasonable. Do you think you'll be able to review it soon?
It's been reviewed by mobile tech review it's the Inspiron 7559 I have one and it's great!
Hi Lisa! I really like the look of your videos now! The dof is not shallow anymore. Easy on the eyes.
Dell could've widener the keyboard size a little bit more then this laptop will look more attractive.
Very nice review, I have the 5548 model with same internals (Broadwell Intel Core i7 5500 + graphics card AMD Radeon R7 M270 + 8GB RAM) and mine doesn't have touchscreen and is a standard HD display. Review on the new Dell Inspiron 15 7000 with Intel's 6th gen. quad core processor and Nvidia's 960m GPU?

Your videos are extremely helpful keep doing what your doing! :)
I'll keep my Dell xps 13 (2014)...
That keyboard looks so out of place.
Lisa, what do you expect from upcoming Dell XPS 15 (infinity display). Will it be lighter and slimmer than current 17 mm Dell XPS 2015? Will it change the game?
Hi Lisa. Will you be reviewing the latest 6th Generation Intel Core 15 7000 4k soon? thanks
Do you think you will get the chance to review the new Inspiron 15 7000? Considering buying one to replace my XPS 14. Really like the 4K display, quad core i5/i7 and GTX 960M. Seems like a good deal
Bottom shell popped out in the front?
James Russo I noticed that too. It was annoying me all video.
James Russo I missed one of the plastic clips when I reassembled it. They are very strong and numerous-- hard to get them all snapped back in place.
MobileTechReview Oh okay. Do you feel it's made of cheap plastic?
+Amir De i just got mine today and so far, its the best experience ive ever had with a laptop
+Judy LuiMullen , you mean lot of guys have it
I have that, it's super heavy. But everything else is good

Lisa, you said the 15" 7000 2-in-1 is just like the 13" model - Does it support the Dell Active Pen, as well?
can you be my grandma

you made a little mistake, the top and the bottom is plastic, the others parts are aluminium.

Which model is this exactly ? I cant see this model on the dell's official site. The one website is quite different from what is in this video.

does it get glitchy and laggy or am i going to face crashes while watching 4K videos on youtube or a movie + how about the brightness ?

is the dell xps worth the extra money ? im looking for a laptop for photo editing (photoshop ,lightroom.after effects)
Where do u get all your electronics? Do you get them directly from the company or do you buy them from retail?
Andrew Hudson Most are review loaners from the manufacturers.
what you think could be the sound who makes the computer?
When is that the 7568 model will be available in France?
How does it perform while editing 4K video? Could it work as a mobile editing station?
I'm so distracted by that bottom part on the left side not being snapped back in properly
hi Lisa,

notta3d
Those BORDERS strengthen the lid.
I rather have them
than something flimsy.
I bought this laptop 3 years ago and the hinges have now failed and its has fallen apart. I think i will try an Acer next.
why keyboard so small?? i need a good and not expensive laptop for coding ... i don't need touch screen .... what can i buy?
when will the xps series come with skylake? any idea?
Anyone help pls... The touch screen is not switching on... When i turn it on only the keyboard has lights on...
what would be the battery backup of HD version?
I have that wizz noise as well with my iPod touch only when it the screen is of and plunged in to charge.
What is the price man
yeah, Lisa we know it is not the power house, i.e. the price, but good machine
very nice for your Review
having a mom like her would make life more easily, instead of me having to teach her about how to use the computer, she'll teach me how to hack...
Hey Lisa! Would you recommend updating from Windows 8.1 to 10 on launch?
TheRokinrolla So far Windows 10 has been working well for me on a machine that I use daily.
Is this laptop touch screen ?
this is one of the best place to discover new laptop
what is the best laptop of dell inspiron for games

what is your intro music?
Purchased one from Costco and returned due to the power Hum - extremely frustrating.
please mention 4k performance for less demanding games like minecraft or 2d games.
Faust Busserl FIFA 2015 can be played at 4K with more than 30fps, I'm not sure about Diablo 3 at 4K, but at Quad HD (1640x1440) you can easily get more than 30fps. Hi Lisa, Could you please help me. I am about to purchase laptop. I am confused between Inspiron 13 and 15. How much difference it would make it terms of screen resoultion and graphics for normal use.
+Yasir Hamid I am more tilted towards Inspiron 13 SE (i7)
+Yasir Hamid: Have you by any chance compared both Inspiron 13 SE & Inspiron 15

Would GTA V run at the minimum possible requirements?
Zach Skaer Maybe, but with commandline
i got this laptop but it has a i7 and a nvidia 960 4gb graphics with 1tb hybrd hardrive and 16g of ram and 4k
seems very differant from this and its called Inspiron 15 7000 series
i need help plz
Yeah bro, get that one. It's the best value gaming laptop out. I have one and it looks amazing the black and red dell logo looks so elite.
Apollo Skywalker it came in yesterday and its awsome! but the logo is shiny silver not red. i wished it was read but it doesnt matter whats in the outside, its only matters whats in the inside XD
General Spaz lol, yep. But my logo is red for some reason? I love it though.
+General Spaz if it has a red dell logo behind it, you have a dell inspiron 7559, which is different form the one shown in the video, and it's the best gaming laptop you can get at that price!
The gray design is the color for the 4K version of the i7559
could you do the inspiron 17 7000?
does any one can tell me what is the material of the black this computer? i heard that it is plastic? thanks
Does it have expendable RAM
Screen and keyboard looks so small I don't this is their best
