I bought this laptop with the 13.3in 4k screen and its absolutely amazing!!! it does everything I need it to do and it can handle apex predator quite well with reasonable settings.

Hey Lisa, I love the fact you take off the bottom to show the insides. Your HD videos also allow me to see what the material of the bottom chassis is. Compare where the screw holes in the main chassis are, if they have the metal star thingy (which receives the screws coming from the lid), then the bottom is fantastic plastic. Check out the latitude 7390 video you made, you can see they screw directly into metal Wish you could open up a latitude 7400 as a review unit, I wanted to see where the screw joints are in that laptop

Got the exact laptop a few weeks ago and love it. It’s quiet, stays cool, has a great keyboard, has legacy ports & USB-C, and a great display. The fingerprint reader works all the time, every time (contrary to some reviews I’ve read). The versatility of a 2in1 is a lot more handy than I expected and I’m glad I got it over a traditional clam shell. Of course the pen storage is excellent, but I thought I would find the pen a lot more useful. I've yet to find anything that I can’t do quicker and easier with the keyboard. I can’t get used to note taking with it either. Maybe I’m missing something? The speakers aren't great, but for anything other than music they sound fine.
i just got this for school, the pen is so nice for note taking. I had used an ancient laptop for so long and its a huge improvement. the only issue is that the fingerprint reader will not work

Mark Harwood XPS is just useless I think ! Who keeps jist usb c decices and cables ! If someone hands me a pendrive First ull need to scout the dongle! Usb c is good for tablets , but for a laptop utility its stupid ! There should be atleast 1 type A port
Great video Lisa! I did want to comment that these notebooks get really hot because they only have one fan and the grate in the back is really small. The only downside I've experienced with this, and the battery run time is a bit less than 7 hours. :( But overall if they redesigned the fan it would be perfect!

The XPS line pretty sure just has more premium build quality. Inspiron line focuses on price to performance. XPS line challenges products like MacBooks and Blades

Hi Lisa, can you please review the new non 2-in-1 Inspiron 14 7000 (7490), specifically the one with the MX250 graphics? The 7490 and 7390 are about the same price in my country. So I'm wondering if the MX250 in the 7490 is worth over the 7390's convertible features, including the touch screen (which is not available in the 7490 in my country), or is the UHD in the 7390 good enough for some light gaming of older titles?
Lisa, I bought the laptop based on your recommendation. So far I love it but at certain sound frequencies, I hear a rattle or buzz. Did you have any issues with the laptop speakers?
I bought 3 of these laptops (hoping for one that had a good speaker) and they all have the buzzing / rattling on the left side speaker. Apparently it's a common problem in this particular model. I tried installing new drivers as well with no luck.
@@adamhiggins6757 Thank you for letting me know. I love the laptop otherwise. I've found a pretty good work around. I went to a website with a tone generator (google it. there are many) and found the approximate range which caused the rattling. For me, it was roughly around 600 Hertz. I when downloaded Equalizer APO (free software) and set the equalizer to remove most of the audio around 500-700 Hertz (and boosted volume overall!). This has dramatically reduced the amount of rattle with only a very minor impact on sound quality overall. Based on your feedback, I may not enter a ticket with Dell if it's that widespread.
That is a REALLY cool place for the pen! I hope more manus do this (though I love Lenovo's silo'd pen! Just hope they can make it full size in the future)! Guessing that Dell pen takes batteries? Interesting device, definitely! Awesome review, Lisa!
I just got this laptop and I love everything about it except the audio is really bad and crackles. I tried to update the audio in device manager, but it did not solve anything. It really sucks because the rest of the laptop is so nice, compared to my 2009 toshiba satellite that I had been using for the past 6 years, which seemed to have better audio than the inspiron
After having used a Surface Pro for quite some time, I feel like the tablet + detachable keyboard format is far superior than these 2-in-1hinged solutions. My ideal laptop would be: - Surface Pro format - Thinkpad build quality / serviceability - Macbook touchpad - Linux compatible out of the box

I have the 2020 version and one major asterisk about the speakers: they're on the bottom facing down so if you use it on a soft/prone to vibrations surface (e.g. legs!), the audio quality will be absolutely horrendous.
I need some major help finding out what my model is! My computer is a dell Inspiron its 8 years old and its Windows 7. Its purple with round edges. The edges are grey. It says dell on the top and inside where usally it says dell under the screen it says Inspiron. It looks like the dell model dell inspiron 15.6 in purple but it has those details i said added it its model 15.6 color basicly. Have you tried looking at the System Information settings on your computer? Type that in and it should have that info. If not, look it up by the SKU number on that page and you should be able to find it

Why is there a different config in china? In china it has a 10th gen i7 with a thunderbolt port with other things having the same specs as the normal one. Also the Chinese one is around 1400 usd

@OldPossum Yet. Nobody used to charge their phones through USB either. Give it a year or two. Macs charge through Type-C. There are a lot of people who have workstations set up with just one Type-C and a docking station that drives monitors, external drives and also charges their laptops.
@@akshaybholee3171 It boots super fast, wakes up instantly. Generally goes pretty well. But I think W10 is messing up with it. sometimes, for example, explorer freezes and takes a couple of seconds to respond. I've been also having issues with heat when running fking word only (or any other low req. program), another is programs closing just by closing the lid. Again I think the issue is Windows, not so much hardware. Display looks great and touchscreen is a pretty useful feature to me.

You could buy the same version of this in silver a year ago from BestBuy for about $1k. It has terrible battery life. Other than that, it's a nice computer. I wiped it and installed Ubuntu 18.04.
Thanks for the review! I purchased this laptop 2 months ago and LOVE IT! However it does have some pitfalls (as every laptop does - none are perfect). What I don't like is that it CAN get pretty hot so I'm not sure that the cooling system is all that great, this heating occurs when streaming videos for long periods of time. Also, the fan can get really loud (not cool - no pun intended). And the biggest pitfall is the speakers! I don't use this laptop without headphones which I don't mind since that's how I typically use laptops.
@@gracesumalinog1963 No I did not. I think I've read on some forum that that's just how the laptop is. Honestly, I got used to the noise of the fan, it's not a huge burden but it would be nice if it was relatively silent all the time.
@@ruffles414 The battery life could be better, you will get a low battery warning after 2+ hours of use. When the fan is loud it is LOUD, a person arms length away can hear it. But it doesn't get loud that often or maybe it does and I haven't paid attention anymore.
I've just bought the 7391 model and discovered that there's no pressure sensitivity support for the pen. I'm fuming; Dell's own promotional material states it supports 1024 levels, but I've just tried to clarify this with Dell tech support and they're telling me is has no pressure sensitivity. Dell make good products but their business is so huge and sprawling that it generates some messy outcomes.
I just bought this, I’m so glad the guy at Best Buy pointed me to this vrs. Letting me shell out the 300$ extra for the XPS. Because mine has 526SSD and 16G the XPS I was looking at only had 256SSD and 8G! This thing is better specked then the XPS it just doesn’t have the branding. I had no idea Inspirons could get this cool! I love mine! Oh and it’s the ONLY 2 in 1 that makes using the pen practice because it’s right there and not lost....
Technically speaking, they're both great. DDR3, most people consider outdated, but a lot of laptops still sell with it for the power efficiency and less heat generated. It's still ridiculously fast and well worth it, IMHO (my next laptop will have it). DDR4 is basically better all around, but it'll use more power and generate more heat, so it's really up to you.
Can you please review the Vostro 7590. It has a i7 6core, a 97 whr battery, and a gtx 1650. The dell latitude 5501 (6 core i7, mx 150 & 92whr battery) and the vostro 7590 are both xps like business notebooks. Being a college student, I have historically used latitudes because Inspiron laptops have always fell apart on me and latitude keyboards are the bomb when it comes to typing. But the vostro is looking attractive with its specs and price. Can you do a comparison of both? I'm afraid that the vostro might just be a rebadged Inspiron.

I have been using this laptop with 4K screen for over a month, and after updating the BIOS it has remained cool. It never gets hot.

@@leighbrett I decided to get the Asus Zephyrus G14 instead with the Ryzen 5 and GTX1650. It costs less than the Dell 7490 but is a lot more powerful.

I wish this laptop had a USB Type-C charge option. I don't want to have to use the charging adapter. I want to use one charger and one cable to charge everything.
@OldPossum Dell's new ultra wide monitor outputs 90w through USB-C.
@OldPossum Yet. Nobody used to charge their phones through USB either. Give it a year or two. Macs charge through Type-C. There are a lot of people who have workstations set up with just one Type-C and a docking station that drives monitors, external drives and also charges their laptops.

@@akshaybholee3171 It boots super fast, wakes up instantly. Generally goes pretty well. But I think W10 is messing up with it. sometimes, for example, explorer freezes and takes a couple of seconds to respond. I've been also having issues with heat when running fking word only (or any other low req. program), another is programs closing just by closing the lid. Again I think the issue is Windows, not so much hardware. Display looks great and touchscreen is a pretty useful feature to me.

Is it worth upgrading the wifi card to Wifi 6 ? I noticed you said the wifi card is really good in there. But seems like im not getting good internet speed.. i have disabled SmartByte and only getting 20mbs or so when i have 150mbs wifi at home and 10 feet away from ac router.. any advice ?

You could buy the same version of this in silver a year ago from BestBuy for about $1k. It has terrible battery life. Other than that, it's a nice computer. I wiped it and installed Ubuntu 18.04.
The newer model is in silver and it looks different, do you have a review on that?

Thanks for the review! I purchased this laptop 2 months ago and LOVE IT! However it does have some pitfalls (as every laptop does - none are perfect). What I don't like is that it CAN get pretty hot so I'm not sure that the cooling system is all that great, this heating occurs when streaming videos for long periods of time. Also, the fan can get really loud (not cool - no pun intended). And the biggest pitfall is the speakers! I don't use this laptop without headphones which I don't mind since that's how I typically use laptops.
where you able to resolve the fan prolem?
@@gracesumalinog1963 No I did not. I think I've read on some forum that that's just how the laptop is. Honestly, I got used to the noise of the fan, it's not a huge burden but it would be nice if it was relatively silent all the time.
Matchbox36 how’s the battery life? And is the fan loud enough that people lets say an arms length away from you can hear it and find it loud too?
@@ruffles414 The battery life could be better, you will get a low battery warning after 2+ hours of use. When the fan is loud it is LOUD, a person arms length away can hear it. But it doesn't get loud that often or maybe it does and I haven't paid attention anymore.

I've just bought the 7391 model and discovered that there's no pressure sensitivity support for the pen. I'm fuming; Dell's own promotional material states it supports 1024 levels, but I've just tried to clarify this with Dell tech support and they're telling me is has no pressure sensitivity. Dell make good products but their business is so huge and sprawling that it generates some messy outcomes.
They have released a new version of this with the new Intel cpu and upgraded ram. Would you recommend it?

I just bought this, I’m so glad the guy at Best Buy pointed me to this vrs. Letting me shell out the 300$ extra for the XPS. Because mine has 526SSD and 16G the XPS I was looking at only had 256SSD and 8G! This thing is better specked then the XPS it just doesn’t have the branding. I had no idea Inspirons could get this cool! I love mine! Oh and it’s the ONLY 2 in 1 that makes using the pen practice because it’s right there and not lost....

Technically speaking, they're both great. DDR3, most people consider outdated, but a lot of laptops still sell with it for the power efficiency and less heat generated. It's still ridiculously fast and well worth it, IMHO (my next laptop will have it). DDR4 is basically better all around, but it'll use more power and generate more heat, so it's really up to you.
Can you please review the Vostro 7590. It has a i7 6core, a 97 whr battery, and a gtx 1650. The dell latitude 5501 (6 core i7, mx 150 & 92whr battery) and the vostro 7590 are both xps like business notebooks. Being a college student, I have historically used latitudes because Inspiron laptops have always fell apart on me and latitude keyboards are the bomb when it comes to typing. But the vostro is looking attractive with its specs and price. Can you do a comparison of both? I'm afraid that the vostro might just be a rebadged Inspiron.
