Been driving a few years now. I agree with you that when I first started driving I was not comfortable driving at night. I dont know at what point in my career that changed but night driving is my favorite. I currently haul gas and I work 4-4. The only rush hour I hit is on my first load, after that its open road. I was thinking that with an hourly position one would prefer days though.
I drive for Amazon and my shift is go out on Monday and Tuesday from about 3 pm to 4 or 5 am do 10 hours down between the two days have. Wednesday off and repeat the same schedule Thursday and Friday and have Saturday and Sunday off. Not too bad starting out in truck driving. At $25 an hour. Lots of home time for family.
Thanks for the advice. I’m starting my first CDL job with AFP tomorrow so your video was exactly what I was looking for. I’m definitely going to try for night shifts. Maybe I’ll see you at a drop site. Thanks Bro
I’m looking to apply with amazon but I don’t have experience yet. They’re asking for a minimum of 6 months experience preferred. Do you think they hire someone with no experience?
The website states 4 day work weeks, home after every shift. I just booked my phone interview and they stated its a regional position driving 500 miles outside of my home city, driving 2 days overnight. I guess I need to get that clarified at the interview. Does this sound familiar to you during your hiring process?
Sounds like your doing regional, instead of like that local side. But yea that sounds familiar. On the local side we work 3 days a week, hoke every night. Drive about 300-375 miles max. Off 4 days. On the regional side, you drive more miles, etc. Wish you best of luck. Once you get ya foot in the door, you can start getting your experience
Thanks for the reply. Your videos are informative. I've actually been driving for 5 yrs in the food delivery service sector. It's good money but back breaking work and with my recent injury I'm ready to drop and hook until something else comes along. Thanks again for your info!! Be safe out there.
It’s 12 to 14 we don’t always use the whole 14. Plus a truck driver can only drive legally for 11 hours a day plus 3 hours of on duty time then you have to take 10 hours off by law according to DOT. You never drive more than 5 or 6 hours straight once a day. It’s broken up between stops and we take breaks in between. It sounds worse than it actually is.
Keep trying even apply to the same ones that dont bite. I finally got one to hire me. i was the same i got my CDL back in August i was getting frustrated and then boom one of the AFPs called me.

When you do the career choice for Amazon and get a CDL do they automatically put you with them? Or do you gotta apply to other trucking companies

Honestly three 14 shifts is a dangerous schedule for driving. Should be spaced out to 4 days. Idk what these companies are thinking
